24.01.2022 Wrapping up CWA Awareness Week with Cashew Brownies! Delicious. 2020 has been like no other with COVID-19 impacting every aspect of our lives, across the board Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW is advocating for victims of domestic violence during this unbelievably difficult time for those at risk. Restrictions and the lockdown associated with the coronavirus pandemic are thought to have contributed to rates of violence and significantly reduced victims’ options and ab...ility to seek help. Please download and keep a classic CWA recipe card, with domestic violence assistance information on the other side. https://drive.google.com//1ToRz9GgpD0dWTFEZg11_X6hQy/view We encourage you to hang onto the recipe card with the assistance information handy too, if there is ever a need to share it. #cwaawarenessweek #recipeoftheweek #cashewbrownies #domesticviolenceawareness #cwa
21.01.2022 Long before joining the CWA I was making recipes from CWA cook books. One of my favourites is Jam Slice. So very easy to make, you’re almost guaranteed to have the ingredients at hand, and goes perfectly with a cup of tea. INGREDIENTS... 1 dessertspoon butter or margarine 2 cups self-raising flour cup sugar 2 eggs jam for spreading (I like mulberry or raspberry, the original recipe calls for plum) 1 cup desiccated coconut 1 dessertspoon sugar METHOD Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and flour a baking tray. Rub butter or margarine into sifted flour until it resembles bread crumbs. Add sugar, one egg and a little water to make a dough. Spread dough over the tray to cover it. Now spread jam all over the dough, to cover quite well. In a bowl combine coconut and remaining egg with sugar, mixing well. Spread the coconut mixture over the jam, covering it completely (the coconut layer should be 5-10mm thick). Bake until dough is cooked and top is beginning to turn golden brown. Once cold, cut into squares and store in an airtight container. An oldie but a goodie! 15.01.2022 Home Free https://issuu.com/onlyhuman1/docs/home-free-fa-complete is a book featuring real women's journeys to safety from domestic violence. The road to safety is not always a straight line. Women don't always ask for help when they need it most. If you suspect domestic violence speak up and reach out. Support from others can make all the difference. #homefree #cwaawarenessweek #domesticviolenceawareness #cwa

14.01.2022 As we celebrated the new year back on January 1st 2020 many of us could not have even begun to imagine the immense changes our world would go through in the ensuing 12 months. It is a testament to us all to have come out the other side. And as we ponder what 2021 holds in store for us after tighter restrictions for NYE gatherings and then waking to find that the rest of Australia has closed its borders to NSW, we sincerely hope you have all managed to be in touch with your loved ones, whether physically or virtually, and are well and safe today and everyday in 2021. May gratitude and kindness fill our hearts as we embark on the adventures of 2021. Happy New Year from CWA Galston.
14.01.2022 CWA Galston is so proud to share that we have been recognised in Parliament by NSW Minister for Energy & Environment and Member for Hornsby, Matthew Kean. We received a lovely acknowledgment from Mr. Kean for our efforts to reach out to our local community despite not being able to meet and fundraise in the usual ways during the pandemic. Special mention was made on our complimentary resume preparation service and work with local women’s shelters to raise awareness for domestic violence during COVID. Another great reason to get down to Castle Towers and vote for CWA Galston at Australian Seniors Insurance Agency to help us win $1000.
14.01.2022 Happy Australia Day from our backyard to yours.

03.01.2022 It's official, we’re halfway through silly season! But can this year get any sillier? Thanks to a relaxing of COVID guidelines CWA of NSW- Galston Branch had the opportunity to come together for our annual Christmas party and last meeting for 2020 last week at the beautiful home of one of our members Kate Trotter. We shared a delicious Christmas lunch out on the verandah overlooking the picturesque gardens and reflected upon the year that was. Although it has not been witho...ut its challenges, we are so grateful to be able to do it all again next year. New year? Yes, please! From our bubble to yours, CWA of NSW- Galston Branch wishes you a happy and healthy holiday season.
01.01.2022 The power of purple. Don a purple ribbon for CWA Awareness Week 6 -13 September. 1 woman is killed every nine days and one man is killed every 29 days in a domestic violence-related situation. ... This year’s Awareness Week is a vehicle for the CWA's member policies aimed at helping turn around the confronting domestic violence statistics. Members endorsed policy motions earlier in the year that urged governments to consider domestic violence as a national emergency, and called for the utilisation of existing research and implementation of relevant recommendations and best practice relating to protecting survivors of domestic violence. This includes recommendations from the Australian Law Reform Commission’s family law review and the National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety. People in rural, regional and outer metropolitan areas experiencing domestic violence face unique challenges and have specific needs, Domestic Violence NSW is calling for the NSW Government to hold a regional forum to meet with local domestic violence services to gauge their immediate needs. It’s a recommendation supported by the CWA of NSW, as part of our Awareness Week lobbying efforts. #cwaawarenessweek #powerofpurple #domesticviolenceawareness http://www.tinadeecreations.etsy.com/
01.01.2022 Paying tribute to this amazing lady Janet Shearer for 30 years service with Galston Girl Guides. Janet was my first point of contact with CWA Galston and I can honestly say I had made up my mind to join within a couple of minutes of meeting her (my long standing love affair with all things CWA may have helped ). I’m sure the girls she mentored during her time with the Guides would have experienced that same warmth and absolute loveliness that I did. A big thank you to Janet for being such a wonderful member of our community and a beautiful friend and role model to the women and girls of Galston and surrounds.
