24.01.2022 Have you heard of Donation Dollar? The Royal Australian Mint has launched a world-first initiative, designed to inspire and cultivate the collective spirit of ...generosity in all Australians! It is the world’s first $1 coin with a call to action to make Australia a more charitable nation. Over the coming years, the plan is to mint one coin for every single Australian, creating millions of reminders to give. The idea behind the initiative is when people receive a $1 coin in their change, rather than spend it on themselves they invest it by giving it to someone in need, especially through charities and in their communities. It goes beyond encouraging people to give not just in times of crisis, but to give all year round and to give more often. We want CWA to be the charity of choice! To support this, Perth Belles are holding a bake stall outside CWA House on Friday 16 October. There will be plenty of delicious treats available to buy for just $1 (handbaked by the Perth Belles), as well as tickets to the CWA Monster Raffle! There are heaps of great prizes to be won, including accommodation, experiences and gifts! Drop by between 9am and 12pm to grab a tasty snack and say hi. #cwaofwa #chickswithattitude #notjustteaandscones #donationdollar

22.01.2022 CWA Goldfields have received a directive from CWA of WA to cancel all gatherings, no matter the size. Unfortunately this means Craft is canceled this Saturday, as well as all other events until further notice. During this uncertain time, we suggest that you look out for others and you check in with those that are vulnerable in the community, a phone call can go a long way.

11.01.2022 Did you know that the CWA collects used stamps? If you have a large collection of stamps The Goldfield's branch is happy to send them off on your behalf, just PM us for drop off details otherwise you can mail them direct to the Head Office, PO Box 97, West Perth, 6872 What are the stamps used for?... CWA belongs to Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) which is made up of women’s organisations like our CWA, representing 9 million women throughout the world. All organisations work to improve the wellbeing of women, children and families. Those in more developed nations generally support projects in less developed areas, particularly with health, education, agriculture and women’s rights. For ease of management and interest focus ACWW has divided the world into areas where better off organisations can aid more needy. Our area is the South Pacific Area which extends from Timor Leste, WA, the other Australian states, New Guinea, New Zealand into the South Pacific Islands like Fiji, Kiribas, Fiji etc. All over Australia used stamps are collected and sent to a volunteer in NSW. She sorts and sells the stamps and the proceeds are used to support projects in the South Pacific, mainly in the Island nations. As State International Coordinator I forward the stamps to her from WA, and while I don’t know how much money they bring in, I’m sure stamp proceeds make a valuable contribution to projects like reclaiming land from the sea for vegetable growing, small self supporting sewing projects enabling women to earn money, and several education projects.
