21.01.2022 Our first ever Cheese and Chuney Night is coming this Friday (16 October)!! Chutney’s are due this Wednesday! See you all there, members and non members are welcome, don’t forget your cash donation to vote with. RULES BELOW... 1. To enter you must be a CWA Member - please contact us at [email protected] for a form 2. You can submit a maximum of two chutney entries per person 3. Your chutney must be a chutney (a savoury condiment), not a relish or a jam. It can be m...ade from vegetables or fruits (eg. from something sweet) however the added spices and vinegar need to make it spicy and fragrant. 4. Your entry must contain two jars from the same batch, with no labels or stickers visible 5. One of the jars submitted for an entry must be 350ml (for taking to the AGM in Darwin if you are the winner), the second can be any size/type jar. 6. You must provide a full ingredients list and name per entry 7. All chutney’s must be hygienically prepared. 8. They all tasted amazing it was hard to pick a favourite. 16.01.2022 Dust off your activewear, the Alyangula gyms are opening! From midday Friday 19 June, NT based FIFO personnel and Groote Eylandt residents can be ...considered as one group, called Territorians. Queensland based and other interstate FIFO personnel will be called Interstate FIFO. The old gym will be open to Interstate FIFO The new gym will be open to Territorians Don’t get FOMO, gym equipment has been equally distributed between the two gyms, so only attend the gym designated to you. Failure to do so may result in the gyms being closed again. Pole 13 gym and outdoor gym equipment remain closed. GEMCO personnel are required to wear wristbands. Other Groote Eylandt residents are encouraged to wear wristbands for easy identification. Resident wristbands can be picked up from the Alyangula supermarket.

16.01.2022 Whilst restrictions of COVID-19 are beginning to ease, we have made the difficult decision to post pone our highly anticipated ladies night event to June 2021, to ensure we can make it as fabulous as always! The dry is a great time of year for an outdoor event and can also enable us to secure off eylandt entertainment and allow everyone plenty of time to get their outfits together. Same theme as previously proposed so if you were an organised early bird you are all sorted

07.01.2022 The Northern Territory will end its mandatory quarantine arrangements to all states and territories from 12:01am on Friday 17 July. This morning I received medi...cal advice that community transmission down south is now tracking at an acceptable risk level. Based on the evidence, our Chief Health Officer recommends a 28-day assessment period before opening our borders which is two COVID-19 replication cycles. That is why we are waiting until next month. From 17 July, arrivals will not have to self-quarantine for 14 days before enjoying the Territory. This gives the rest of Australia four weeks’ notice, and it gives the Territory four weeks to get ready. It gives businesses time to prepare. It gives us time to market the Territory to visitors. It gives us time to lock in the gains we’ve made and be absolutely certain we aren’t putting our progress at risk. 28 days notice makes sure we that we don’t stuff this up. The safety of Territorians will always be my priority.

GEMCO is committed to ensuring the safety of its workforce and community during COVID-19. The GEMCO Clinic ensures that GEMCO residential workers, contractors and their families can access high quality healthcare, while ensuring there is no additional impact on the NT Health system. The GEMCO Clinic will operate in the same manner as any GP medical clinic, seeing patients for all concerns and maintaining patient confidentiality. Before the GEMCO Clinic opens its doors to patients, drop in and see the facility, meet the friendly staff and ask any questions you have.
