24.01.2022 As of this morning the Federal Health Minister has advised that podiatry practices can continue operating and are encouraged to do so as an essential service to our community. We are of course taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of both our patients and staff. We are here to deal with the problems of the lower limbs to free up our doctors and local hospitals to deal with more pressing issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to be advis...ed by the Dept of Health and the Australian Podiatry Association. To reinforce our procedures, -please call or text us on arrival and wait in your car. We will either call or text you when we are ready for you. -the clinic is cleaned regularly and all surfaced in treatment rooms are wiped and disinfected after each patient. -clinicians will be using the appropriate personal protection equipment to limit the spread of any pathogens -only the patient (Except one parent or one carer) will be allowed into the treatment room. -The clinics hours will vary depending on booked appts. The clinic will close when there are no patients booked in so our staff can isolate at home. If you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms or respiratory issues, we ask that you call the clinic so your appointment can be rescheduled when symptoms have passed. If you arrive at the clinic with these symptoms, please be advised that your appointment will be rescheduled for when you have recovered. Keep Safe and Well. Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face. The Team at CWFAC.

10.01.2022 This week we are 4 years old! We love being here in the central west. We love being part of this community. Supporting school fetes, sports clubs, duck races, raffles, book sales and local cancer survivors. We strive to give of our best. We are wholly owned by locals and are fiercely independent. Head office is here, in our glorious part of the world. We are here for you, as you have been there for us. We are so proud of our little clinic and all those who have helped us to... where we are. Thanks to our staff, past and present who work so hard to make sure that we give the best possible care to our patients. Thanks to our referrers, both doctors and allied health professionals. Finally a massive thank you to our smiling, happy patients who put their trust in us. We look forward to helping you and being part of our community for many years to come. See more

10.01.2022 This, whether we want to admit it or not, will be a long road. It will require all our patience with each other and steadfast relationship skills. It will end though, and people are defined by their actions in times like these. Be kind to each other. Choose to love. Choose to smile. Choose kindness. Choose generosity. Choose Hope. We choose to do these things through helping others and being here for you. We are open. We are here. Stay safe and well. The Team at CWFAC.

09.01.2022 Mikes boys have just visited The Athletes Foot to pick up their Ascent Footwear school shoes for 2020! The podiatrist recommended footwear for school shoes this year! There is no item of clothing your child will wear more than their school shoes.

09.01.2022 HELP THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM! We are remaining open, offering urgent care and high risk podiatry. With this we are hoping to help with reducing the stress on our GP clinics, Emergency Departments and the hospital system. Let them deal with the pandemic and other life threatening presentations. Some of the ways we can do this is by you choosing to access our expertise in the following:... 1. Foot and Ankle injuries - sprains, strains and fractures. - We can assess your injury and refer you directly for medicare rebated xrays and ultrasounds. - We have a full size stock of "moon boots" - We are foot and ankle experts and can advise you on acute care and rehabilitation of your lower limb injury. 2. Ingrown toenails - Please attend the podiatrist for treatment of your ingrown toenail and prevention of infection. This is often the most common reason people would otherwise see a GP. More often than not, theyd send you to us anyway. 3. Wound management - All our podiatrists are trained in high risk wound care. Please consider using our services at this time, rather than burdening our public hospital emergency department or your GP. They are going to be super busy!

Public health recommendations have been issued for a number of groups of people related to the risk of COVID-19 infection, as follows: People who have been in, or transited through high risk countries in the last 14 days or who have been in contact with a person with confirmed COVID-19 while infectious must self-isolate for 14 days following last contact. People who have travelled to any other countries in the previous 14 days must monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. Please ensure you access reliable and reputable information regarding the virus. 04.01.2022 It is clear from listening to patients that there is a mountain of misinformation around the COVID 19 Vaccine. Most people have no idea how it works and their ‘facts’ come from social media, friends and often, not hard science. Being health professionals, we deal in science, not politics or scare tactics. It is likely that in regional NSW we will get the Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine, which uses DNA (the instructions to manufacture cells and proteins in a double strand) as oppo...sed to mRNA, to allow you body to manufacture the COVID Protein Spike. DNA (double strand helix) is tougher than mRNA (single strand helix) which is why it doesn’t need to be kept as cold as the Pfizer Vaccine. Once your body is given instructions how to manufacture the protein spike, you have the ability to destroy the virus once it enters your body. How do vaccines work? Similar to the mRNA method of action explained in this 5 minute vid from the WHO. Spend five minutes. Listen. Educate yourself. This is Science. It is fact, whether you believe it or not.

03.01.2022 Pretty Serious out there. Thank you to our wonderful RFS volunteers. You are doing a stellar job. Stay safe everyone and if in doubt, err on the side of caution.

02.01.2022 What winter sports boots does a podiatrist recommend? ASICS, ASICS AND ASICS. Asics are currently the only brand that has a 10 mm heel lift on their winter sports boots. This means that for growing boys and girls, there is less pressure on their Achilles tendon and less chance of developing heel pain known as severs disease. They are also the only brand recommended by Sports Medicine Australia and the Australian Physiotherapy Association. So the choice is clear with boots covering football, AFL, Touch, League and Rugby. ASICS is the boot of choice this winter. #ratherbeplayingthaninjured #coloursdontmatter #performance #seversdisease #wintersports #playyourbest

02.01.2022 Proudly sponsoring Bathurst Little Athletics Club at the regional championships at Bardon Park, Dubbo.

02.01.2022 Seeing plenty of patients who have fallen into these traps!

01.01.2022 Message from Mike Curtin, practice principal. How we can help during COVID-19? Stay away from hospitals if you can. We are experts in lower limb health and are essential health care practitioners.

01.01.2022 EXERCISE.... With gyms and pools closed, organised sport cancelled and social distancing in play we have seen a spike in walking/running related foot, ankle and knee injuries. Its a great way to get out, clear your head, do some thinking or just enjoy our beautiful autumnal weather. We are here to help. So a few tips.... 1. If your runners are older than 12 months, regardless of usage, get a new pair and talk to an expert to make sure you have the right type of shoe for your... foot and your needs. 2. If your feet, ankles or knees are sore, examine your shoes for age and wear. Replace if necessary. 3. Ensure you gradually increase the workout intensity and distance. Dont start high and long. Start low and short. 4. Stretch.....before and after. At least 60% of all running and walking related pain that we see in clinic is a result of poor footwear choice or footwear age. Once you replace your kicks, if pain continues, its time to give us a call on 6334 2389. We are open, following Dept of Health guidelines and as Allied Health are here to help you. Lets get you moving again!!!
