12.01.2022 Interest Rates on way up???? Noticed in past 2 weeks , most lenders have increased rates by .2 to .3%, Received letter from my Mortgage Lender (ING) to advise that variable rate will increase by .18% from end of Feb, due to "financial market pressures"

12.01.2022 Welcome to 2019 and a new "credit crunch". This will effect all but especially Consumer credit i.e home loans, car loan, credit cards etc. Lenders must now allow for increases in interest rates for home loans and calculate repayments on credit card LIMITS to pay off over 3 yrs at higher rate. So how will this effect you. 1. They will recalculate your mortgage payment at a rate of 8%.... 2. Will calculate your card LIMIT to pay off over 3 yrs @ 24%.. So if you have a $15k limit on your cr card with balance of $1200, the will have to assess your repayment at $576 pm - based on limit not balance - as these funds could be spent today. This may well affect how much you can borrow. You may have noticed that there are not as many TV adds for zero interest cr card transfers - that is because they may not be able to offer you the same limit with these new criteria. You may have to reduce your limit or number of cards to be able to fit within the new lending criteria. These are some of the new challenges for 2019. See more

03.01.2022 After the Banking Royal Commission , we are starting to see changes to consumer lending assessments from all the lenders. They bare now sensitizing mortgage repayments by recalulating repayments based on *% interest rate, and also credit card limits on 3 yr p & I @ 20+%, this will tighten credit for many borrowers,.

02.01.2022 Interest rates down again, all this talk about banks not passing on the full cut is a bit over the top. They still have same overheads /costs as when rates were 7% +, so if rates get to 0% do the pollies expect interest free home loans ?? I can remember in the 80's we were paying 18% on home loan & $24% on car loans..
