24.01.2022 Today we celebrate Our Lady's birthday. Let us remember our heavenly mother, and do something special to show our love for her - it could be as simple as some flowers in a vase, listening to or singing a song to honour Mary, a rosary or prayer, learning about a Marian devotion or pilgrimage site, or just some time spent with Our Lady in meditation on her life and beautiful character. 22.01.2022 The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood. In these last few days of July let us remember Jesus' Passion and Death because of His love for us. Lord Jesus, You became Man in order by your Passion and Death and the draining of your Blood on the Cross, might prove to us how much You, our God, love us. Protect us, dear Jesus, from ever running away from the sight of blood. Strengthen our weak human wills so that we will not only not run away from the cross, but welcome... every opportunity to shed our blood in spirit in union with your Precious Blood, so that, dying to ourselves in time we might live with You in Eternity. Amen Excerpted from The Precious Blood of Christ, Fr John A Hardon, SJ. 18.01.2022 What a truly amazing saint Fr Maximilian Kolbe is! Our Lady appeared to him in a dream when he was a boy. He founded the movement Knights of the Immaculate in 1917, a year before being ordained a priest of the Conventual Franciscans. in 1927 he established the first "City of the Immaculate", consisting of almost 800 friars working in a printery as a mass media apostolate through books, magazines, pamphlets and a newspaper. He started a mission in Japan with four other fria...rs in 1930. His return from Japan saw the Nazis occupy Poland in September 1939 and Fr Kolbe and many of the friars were arrested. He was released two months later (with the Nazis suppressing his printing and publishing apostolate). He refused to sign the Deutsche Volksliste, which would have given him rights similar to that of German citizens in exchange of recognizing his German ancestry. Fr Kolbe arrested on 17 February 1941. Fr Kolbe's heroism is an inspiration to us all - he volunteered to be the victim in place of another prisoner, and after being assigned to a starvation bunker died on 14 August 1941 (aged 47), the feast of Our Ladys Assumption into heaven. In June 1979, Pope John Paul II visited St Maximilians death chamber in Auschwitz, and proclaimed him Patron Saint of our Difficult Age. He is also patron saint of journalists (as well as families, prisoners, political prisoners, drug addicts and the pro-life movement).
15.01.2022 Our Lady of Fatima said to Sr Lucia, Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the Church (13 July 1917). Just over three year's later, Lenin allowed abortion to be legalised in Russia on 18 November 1920. Since then, legalised abortion has spread throughout the world, with an estimate of over one billion unborn children aborted as a result. Fr Shenan J Boquet writes: "I believe fervent prayer, acts of penance, and social a...wareness can save many unborn children, bring about changes in the abortion culture at a global level, and accomplish what Pope St John Paul II called a Culture of Life." #ourladyoffatima #cultureoflife #JPII
15.01.2022 Archbishop Comensolis letter to the People and Clergy of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (16 September 2020) extract: "Now, it is essential that the Government does not treat faith communities as an afterthought to the opening up of other sectors. Our churches are locations for communities of care and essential service, and must be treated fairly and reasonably. "Practically speaking, I have been in discussion with the Premier to thank him for overturning the restricti...on on spiritual ministry to the sick and the dying, and have assured him that the Catholic Church is able to manage restrictions (including good hygiene, face coverings, social distancing and density requirements). If pubs and restaurants can open, then places of worship should be open under similar conditions and numbers." Jesus Laid in the Tomb (John 19:39-42) The seven promises: 1. "I will grant peace to their families." 2. "They will be enlightened about the Divine Mysteries." 3. "I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work. 4. "I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my Divine Son or the sanctification of their souls." 5. "I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives." 6. "I will visibly help them at the moment of their death. They will see the face of their Mother. 7. "I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy." https://www.catholiccompany.com/c/The-Seven-Sorrows-of-Mary Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows (right wing of diptych) by Adriaen Isenbrandt (circa 1485 1551) / Wikimedia Commons

He established monastic communities and became the Bishop of Hippo in northern Africa. In the year 430 Augustine fell ill and spent his time praying the penitential psalms. Interestingly he asked to have the psalms written on the wall of his room. 01.01.2022 Today we celebrate the Feast of The Assumption of Our Lady. Dr Robert Stackpole, STD, writes about this special event in an article titled "The Case for the Assumption of Mary". He is director of the John Paul II Institute of Divine Mercy, Massachusetts, USA. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of... her Son's Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of His Body (974). Father in heaven, all creation rightly gives you praise, for all life and all holiness come from you. In the plan of your wisdom she who bore the Christ in her womb was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven. May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness and join in her hymn of endless love and praise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Prayer for the Assumption of Mary www.catholic.org/prayers
