24.01.2022 During a Laser Genesis treatment, it will start by one of our nurses applying a cleansing mask to help you prepare your skin for the treatment and then the treatment itself takes about 30 minutes, the skin will feel very warm but it isn’t painful. 22.01.2022 We get asked this all the time, so Dr Tracey Purnell has written a quick myth buster: Myth All muscle relaxants are the same. There are 3 main muscle relaxants on the market in Australia (an another 2 will be released in the future). What they have in common is they all relax muscles. But, they are not the same. They are reconstituted differently, they have different proteins in solution with the toxin, one relaxant needs to be injected straight into the belly of the muscl...e, the other two can be injected just under the skin and filter down into the muscle. One kicks in after 3-4 days, and the other two in 5-7 days. One of the products is reported to be less likely to produce ‘toxin resistance’ (the horrifying situation where anti wrinkle injections stop working because your body has made an antibody to prevent it from working). What is important is that your injector understands the differences and is using each toxin correctly. Myth One toxin is better than another. As I said, they ALL relax muscles and really, that is all they need to do! The real skill is knowing when, where and how to inject. The product used is really not that big of a factor. We understand that some people are loyalist to a particular product. For that reason, we keep all 3 brands on hand for the fussy ones For most of our patients, they love coming to see us, not because we use one toxin over another, but because we produce consistent results and take the time to work out what will work best for you and how we can tailor all of our treatments to meet your goals and budget. 02.01.2022 The evolution of a healing bruise. Bruising is common with cosmetic injections. A lot of Instagram accounts won’t show you any of this, which we think sets people up for disappointment and concern if they do bruise. So, in the interest of keeping it real, here is one of @drtraceypurnell patients who bruised after lip filler. What is good to know is that these pictures are taken a day apart over 5 days. The bruise resolved quickly as Tracey treated it early with our vascular laser, so by the end of the week it was barely visible. It’s always best to schedule treatments when you can lay low for a few days should you experience bruising or swelling.
