21.01.2022 The Petition below is seeing posties at delivery centers all over metro Melbourne lining up to sign it. Please share it widely. Petition to Communications Minister Paul Fletcher MP CC Members of the Senate Environment and Communications Committee... We the undersigned note the comments of the acting Australia Post CEO, Mr. Rodney Boys, at the Environment and Communications Committee on 9 November 2020, where he dismissed the findings of a survey of Victorian postal workers having a negative experience with the ADM, and instead asserted a majority of posties support the ADM. Mr. Boys dismissal of the survey as unrepresentative (over 400 Posties) and only in a small region (Melbourne Metro) shows not only a lack of understanding of the issues that Posties have identified but also a lack of empathy in regards to the many comments that were made in the survey. We consider the ADM is an abject failure that has led to a great deal of stress and anxiety amongst Posties, severely damaged morale, and has led to a range of Health & Safety Issues. Transferring small and medium-size parcels from traditional delivery via the posties on the footpath to van delivery is less efficient and has lessened, as opposed to improving, the service for metro Melbourne communities. We call upon the Minister to end the temporary reforms as soon as possible and restore the previous service levels.

19.01.2022 News story from the Financial review... Patrick Durkin AFR "Australia Post strikes a deal to keep deliveries flowing"... Australia Post has announced it has struck a deal with the state government that exempts its posties and delivery drivers from the worst of the stage 4 lockdown rules in Victoria. "We have worked with the Victorian government to ensure that our post offices remain open and that our deliveries our posties and drivers across Victoria remain on the road," the organisation said on Monday. While there are still restrictions on parcel processing, shifts can be arranged so that the workforce does not need to be cut by two thirds. "For our delivery and parcel facilities in metropolitan Melbourne only, we will have a 10 per cent daily workforce reduction, coupled with split shifts in a COVID-safe environment, ensuring cleaning between shifts and a COVID Safe Plan. "While we do expect some delays as we work through these restrictions and set up our operations accordingly, we thank the Victorian government for their consideration and support to ensure the community receive the essentials services they need in a timely fashion." The deal follows a series of reports in the Financial Review that the lockdown rules would cause major bottlenecks on critical deliveries.

06.01.2022 No doubt Express Post will be impacted this week ( on top of everything else!) From 5.29pm today Monday 3rd August... Qantas freight disruption By Erin Pearson A Qantas spokesman said a contractor working in a security hut at Melbourne’s international freight terminal has tested positive for COVID-19, sparking a temporary shutdown of freight services. He said two further employees at the domestic freight facility had also recently contracted COVID-19 though neither staff member had been at the facility for more than 10 days. "In line with advice from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), we have temporarily paused operations at our Melbourne freight facilities," they said. "The Qantas Medical team has undertaken contact tracing in line with the protocols set out by health authorities. As a precaution, a number of co-workers have been considered close contacts and are now also self-isolating. "At least one of the employees appears likely to have contracted their illness through a family member." It remains unclear exactly what type of freight will be affected and when services will be back up and running. "We have acted immediately and are working with authorities to ensure the site is safe before freight operations resume," the Qantas spokesman said. Both the international and domestic facilities have undergone additional cleaning. DHHS is also investigating the cases.

01.01.2022 Press release, Please share widely MICHELLE ROWLAND MP SHADOW MINISTER FOR COMMUNICATIONS... MEMBER FOR GREENWAY AUS POST FLAGS NEED FOR SEVEN DAY DELIVERY FREQUENCY DESPITE INCOMPETENT FLETCHER CUTTING IT IN HALF In the latest evidence Paul Fletcher is incompetent, an Australia Post executive has today told the Sydney Morning Herald that seven day parcel delivery could become the new norm: "In terms of consumer trends, [seven-day delivery] is something I think over time will become a reality," he said. "As we see growth in online shopping in the years to come, I believe it will become something we do more often, if not full time." This begs the question why is Minister Fletcher cutting the delivery frequency of posties to 2 and 3 days a week when posties previously carried 50 per cent of total parcel volumes to households every day of the week? Who is going to deliver the small and medium sized parcels that posties are arguably most efficiently placed to deliver? This is why there has been a growing lack of confidence among local Australia Post managers in the service cuts and their impact on parcel delivery. The simple fact is the incompetence of Minister Fletcher is resulting in parcel delivery delays to millions of Australians households. Fletcher initially cut service standards in a sneaky attempt to cut Australia Post costs and services under the guise of COVID-19. Now that the jobs have been saved by the unions and Labor, he doesn’t know why he did this to begin with. WEDNESDAY, 29 JULY 2020 Authorised by Paul Erickson, ALP, Canberra.
