25.01.2022 ? The answer is unlikely. Although crime fighting agencies exist who actively search for illegal activity. Unless your torrenting a vast amount of pirated movies, no-one is really going to care about those 16 orders of purple spandex you placed last week, or your obsession with kpop.

22.01.2022 Computer bugs, glitches and viruses are a universal problem most of us are all too familiar with. They work well one day, and then stop working the next causing us to pull out our hair asking the question "Why did it suddenly break?", thus is the nature of technology. Even when your computer is working well, a software update will be released which changes the layout of your entire interface requiring you to re-learn how to use it again, or it causes some of your applications... to stop working due to compatibility issues. Cyberwest Solutions has helped many businesses lift their IT infrastructure out from a murky mess to meet optimal standards which eliminated risks of losing data, and improved productivity by creating a stable working environment. Cyberwest Solutions can also help those who want to start up their home business and need advise on how to setup remote access to their computer and files, or create their own company email. For all your IT consultation needs for both home and business, please call on 0431035315, or send messages here. Will reply at the earliest opportunity! Don't hesitate to contact for free quote. Affordable price and quality service.

22.01.2022 Philips has released a new 40" size monitor. While I can see that this will probably replace the need of having two LCDs for each desk in the future, along with the 35" curve sync monitors. The average asking price of 1K still makes it more expensive then investing in two small LCDs. However when the price starts to drop (and it will) It is probable this will be the standard monitor used for most offices. Something to keep an eye out for anyway. http://www.philips.com.au//brilliance-led-backlit/overview

21.01.2022 ? These are the questions I get faced with all the time, and here is my take on it. 1. When looking at replacing a computer, most people look at the entry level devices when comparing costs to repairs, these usually have minimal specs, cheaper parts, and a design which may or may not be to your liking. ... Generally with repairs which include new parts, these tend to be of better quality, will also bring your computer up to specs which is likely to compete with the more expensive models, and is also likely to have fewer problems since you now know what you put in it. 2. Replacement Parts are actually not that expensive and are easy to install, and can significantly improve the performance of your computer. If the costs seem high, it's probably associated with the labour involved with installing it. Just remember to ask for a quote on parts and estimated labour before going ahead just to ensure you get the best value for money. RAM upgrades shouldn't take longer then 30min, however hard-drive replacements can become complex depending on the type of drive used, however your tech should discuss this with you before going ahead with the job. 3. Your more familiar with your computer and the way it is setup. If speed is the issue, then it is likely that you are happy with everything else about your computer, why complicate that setup with a new computer which may not have enough USB ports, or the right VGA/HDMI outputs that you need. If you have any questions at all about whether to repair or replace your computer, you can contact me by email or phone, or by the Cyberwest Contact page listed on our website.

18.01.2022 Did some cable tidying for a client where the cables were just ugly to look at and a bit of a foot hazard. Now I'm probably not going to win any awards for classy cable organising, but it does look much better then before. I used J Channel Cable Organizer's for this job which had to be imported from the US since they aren't available in Australia.

11.01.2022 WD has released two types of NAS devices, but not really a lot of information on what the real differences are. Recently someone purchased the WD MyCloud Home for their company and asked me to setup it up to be used as their main file server, and lets just say it was nothing short of a nightmare to work with due to the fact that this device was not designed to be used this way. Traditionally a NAS is a just a hard-drive enclosed in a... box with a basic web interface which can be used to set folder permissions, accessibility and IP addresses. The approach for the WD MyCloud Home however is different and it tries to be as simple to setup as possible, by removing the web interface and having it automatically detect and sync with your WD Online account by simply plugging it into your home router. The only way you can interact with the NAS is through your online portal, or the WD Disovery Tools and even that provides only limited control. This poses problems if setting it up for business. I will provide some of the benefits of choosing a business purpose NAS over a Home NAS. - INCREASED FILE SECURITY: User Access is controlled through user accounts and permissions managed centrally by the NAS. - DATA REDUNDANCY: With two or more Hard-drives mirroring data off each-other, if one fails the other will kick in, allowing business continuity. - REMOTE ACCESS TO FILES: Most modern NAS devices feature built-in VPN Servers allowing you remote access from anywhere that has internet. The WD MyCloud Home seemed to lack these features, it only had one Hard-drive, did not provide the ability to configure User Accounts and Permissions, nor even a static IP address. However this doesn't disqualify WD's product as it was purposed for home use, and it does that quite well. In fact WD grants each user as much online storage equal to the storage of the WD MyCloud Home. These NAS device prices do start at around the $300-$400 mark, so if you do decided to purchase one for your business, it would be a good idea to consult your IT Consultant before heading to the store, it could save you hundreds of dollars and time.

02.01.2022 AMD Threadripper 16 Core CPU PLE now stocks these. Amazing how far they are pushing technology these days. I still have my humble Single Core Pentium 4 with hyper-threading (Basically simulating dual core) in the house somewhere.
