14.01.2022 EOKA - or The National Organisation of Cypriot Freedom Fighters who fought to end British Colonial Rule of Cyprus, fought for self-determination and for eventual Union of the island of Cyprus with the Greek State. On April 1, 1955, EOKA began their 4 year struggle and launched simultaneous campaigns all over the island against British military installations, British soldiers and military convoys, disrupted communication lines, British c...ontrolled broadcasting stations & sabotaged British operations in Cyprus. Many of EOKA’s leaders and members lost their lives during the Struggle, to free the people of Cyprus from British Colonialism.Whilst not reaching their ultimate goal of Union with Greece, the 4 year campaign did manage to end almost a century of British colonial rule on the island and in 1960 an independent Republic of Cyprus was established. Today marks the 65th anniversary of the commencement of the EOKA struggle.

07.01.2022 The Cypriot Community Association of Qld take great privilege in inviting you to the 46th Anniversary Memorial Service of the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus in 1974. The service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George (33 Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane) on Sunday the 19th of July 2020 at 11:30am. The Memorial Service will be followed with the laying of wreathes in remembrance of those who have fallen for our freedoms and democratic rights. ... Bookings for attendance are essential. 07.01.2022 For 46 consecutive years Cyprus and its people remain forcibly & artificially divided. Over 38% of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Cyprus is still under illegal military occupation by Turkey, with the presence of dozens of thousands of heavily armed Turkish troops rendering the occupied area of Cyprus, one of the most densely militarised areas in the world. Today the Cypriot Community Association of QLD had the 46th Anniversary Memorial service of the Turkish invas...ion of Cyprus in 1974. The service was held at the Greek Orthodox church of Saint George. The church service/trisagio was followed with the laying of wreaths in remembrance of those who fallen for our freedom and democratic rights. Due to COVID -19 restrictions the commemorative reception at the Cyprus House was canceled. Thank you everyone for your attendance and continuous support. #JusticeForCyprus

04.01.2022 Have you heard of the children's book called Ikoyenia? We just love this book created by Greek-Cypriot journalist Stephanie Timotheou. The books are now available to order online. These books are written in greek and in english so kids can also learn another language at the same time! Stephanie has released two books so far called Cooking with Yiayia and Gardening with Pappou! There are two more books expected to come out in December about Mama and Baba. ... We totally love what this cookbook is doing for young Greek-Cypriot Australians!
