21.01.2022 A Mount Waverley family has had a lucky escape after fire engulfed their home this morning and caused a partial roof collapse. The home owner was awakened by a loud bang at 4.53am, according to a Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokeswoman, and evacuated his wife and child to safety after noticing the fire. The 1970s three-bedroom brick veneer, in Bennett Avenue, suffered extensive damage from fire, water and smoke with the roof collapsing into the home. The blaze took 23 minutes t...o bring under control, said the spokeswoman. An electrical fault in the roof is believed to be responsible. Could your properties be exposed to these risks? 15.01.2022 Melbourne home gutted after cigarette sparks fire. A burning cigarette has sparked a fire that destroyed a house in Pascoe Vale, in Melbourne's north, early this morning. A couch on a verandah caught alight and the blaze quickly spread throughout the Railway Parade home around 4:15am.... No one was hurt. The damage bill is estimated to be around $400,000. Metropolitan Fire Brigade Acting Commander Gary Cronin says the fire engulfed the property. "The investigation has found that the cause of the fire was accidental and it was a cigarette," he said. "There were three occupants. They self-evacuated from the building. "They were very lucky to escape because the intensity of the fire spread swiftly into the roof area." 06.01.2022 A WOMAN has died in a house fire in northern NSW. Emergency services were called to the Yamba home around 11.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday night where they found the house well alight. A body found inside the building is yet to be formally identified.... Police believe it is a 66-year-old woman who lived at the home. The cause of the fire is not yet known, police say.

01.01.2022 A HEATER is believed to have sparked a Melbourne house fire that has left a man fighting for his life in hospital. Firefighters dragged the 20-year-old unconscious man from the fully engulfed Werribee home about 7.45am yesterday. They performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived a short time later and continued their efforts. He was rushed to The Alfred hospital where he last night remained in a critical but stable condition. Two other occupants of the house escaped unharmed..., while a third was treated for shock. All are believed to be in their 20s. It took firefighters around 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Police said they are not treating it as suspicious.
