Cycling Victoria is now calling for expressions of interest from Junior (J15/17 age categories) riders who seek to participate at the 2020 Junior Road National Championships in Wagga Wagga between the 20th - 22nd of November.... Our goal is to provide support and a positive, inclusive and exciting experience for our Victorian junior cyclists within this period of uncertainty. 18.01.2022 Since 2014, Cycling Victoria has made changes to become a more gender equitable organisation and sport. We elected our first female President - Lisa Bryne, have a minimum of 40% gender representation on our board and are committed to become leaders in the Gender Equity in cycling. We are still on a journey and we are still seeing a disparity between male and female cyclists, coaches, officials and those in leadership positions. The Cycling Victoria Gender Equity Action Plan... 2020-2023, will continue the work being done by Cycling Victoria and its Member Clubs to create real change for our sport in Victoria. 16.01.2022 The distinctive name "Plugger" Bill Martin is mentioned often in cycling history but who really was he? He was winning long distance track events before large crowds before his major pro win came in what was the first Six-Day at Madison Square Garden in 1891. Billed as the long distance championship of the world, it was a single rider event, now on Penny-farthings, with "go as you please" rules. He covered 1,467 miles and the victory netted him $1000 in gold and became the decider that cycling was his future. To learn a bit more about Plugger Bill have a read of this article by our wonderful History & Heritage Committee: https://cycling.org.au//wheres-my-money-plugger-bill-martin

15.01.2022 "The club has made the difficult decision to cancel our plans for the 2020 Baw Baw Classic. We are especially disappointed because this year would have been the races 20th edition, said Warragul Cycling Club President and Race Director Karin Jones. We have made this decision because of the uncertainty around when competition can resume in Victoria and the events reliance on sponsorship."

08.01.2022 It is with much sadness that Cycling Victoria notifies members and the cycling community of the recent passing of Marie Manskie. Marie was a long time contributor and supporter of cycling, putting in many years as a volunteer at events, most notably her encouragement of junior participation. Marie assisted at Christmas Carnival events, track meets and numerous Championships. Marie came into cycling with her husband Norm who was initially a Professional Referee then a Commissa...ire in the amalgamated racing. After Norm passed away Marie became more active taking the role as Number Steward where her face was the regular first welcome to riders collecting their race number at both road and track Opens. 04.01.2022 World Bicycle Relief, an international nonprofit organization that mobilises people through the Power of Bicycles is proud to launch their first ever Global DIY Adventure Ride, Pedal to Empower, happening on September 12th, 2020. This is an all-ages virtual ride and global movement to empower women and girls in need to break down barriers with bikes. In rural developing countries, distance, inequity and early marriage stand between young girls and their futures. With bicycles..., there is a way forward. Bicycles help them confront these obstacles, take control of their futures, and create their own paths. We prioritize 70% of bicycles for girl students, and partner with communities to ensure the long-term sustainability of our bicycle programs. By providing bicycles, you empower young girls to fulfill their potential and break the cycle of poverty. Investing in women and girls will change the world.
