20.01.2022 As some of us are thinking about going back to school, I thought I'd make a video about my Twit Twoo School books. I'm going to read Mouse's Big Day, and then d...raw all the animals and their teacher Miss Hoot. Mouse isn't keen on the idea of going to school. Will a day at Twit Twoo School change her mind? 20.01.2022 Spotlight on a great new Author/Illustrator gracing our library shelves for the first time; Tai Snaith. We have just acquired two books from Tai, Slow down worldand You might find yourself. Tai is an Australian artist and writer active in the Melbourne arts community. Her children’s books remind me of Jeannie Bakers books with a collage theme in the illustrations. The books have a lovely story for children and adults. A real treat to have started our Tai Snaith collection. I can’t wait to acquire more at our little library. #taisnaith #artinbooks #collage #greatnewbooks #newlibrarybooks #kidslovebooks @taisnaith_books

19.01.2022 Hope you’re reading something good this weekend! A little drawing from my book Dharma the Llama, with a cameo from Macca the Alpaca. Both published by Scholasti...c Australia (It’s been great to virtually celebrate Book Week this week with those who stayed with the original dates. Thanks to the schools who had me ‘visit’. For those who will celebrate in October instead, I’ll see you then! Two Book Weeks in one year - a tiny silver lining to the cloud that is 2020!)

18.01.2022 The weekend forecast is for snow here in Tasmania. Snowy weather activities include; movies, popcorn, board games and hot chocolate. Or it could be the perfect time to get carried away with a good book! #winterreading #booktime #timeforabook #cygnettasmania #kidslovereading #literacyforkids

18.01.2022 Something the kids might like to have a look at while they’re at home.

17.01.2022 After a big break from regular schooling due to the Corona virus, we will welcome back all the faces we have missed at Cygnet Primary School. Our routines may be a little different for a little while longer, but the important thing is, the library will be open for all of our wonderful young readers. The books are waiting....... #libraryisopen #booksarereadytogo #letthereadingbegin #kidslovebooks #librarianlife #schoolisinsession

14.01.2022 Some slight changes to this weeks #stayathomestorytime schedule. Firstly it’ll be an hour later for Britain and Ireland due to daylights savings. Secondly, I’m going to go every other weekday for now. See you Monday for some crayons fun.

11.01.2022 Everyone seemed to have lots of fun with the Stack of Alpacas finger puppets, so I’ve made some more based on my book Alpacas With Maracas. (Plus a bonus Harmer... the Llama from Macca the Alpaca) Print out the free activity sheet available at my website... https://www.mattcosgrovebooks.com/new-blog Colour in the characters, cut them out, tape the tabs and make your own cast of alpacas and yaks. Maybe you can even put on a talent show?! Thanks to my kids for ‘helping’ with the video. (I get no respect!) Have fun and take care! Alpacas With Maracas is published by Scholastic Australia and Scholastic UK

04.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week was initiated in 1996 by Reconciliation Australia to celebrate Indigenous history and culture in Australia and foster reconciliation discussion and activities. At Cygnet Primary School we have a large number of Indigenous students and a very active culture in this area. We strive to support this with a library collection reflecting this. Bruce Pascoe’s Young Dark Emu is shortlisted for the 2020 CBCA Book of the Year Awards in the Eva Pownell Information Boonciliationweek #indigenousliterature

01.01.2022 Something fun for the kids.
