25.01.2022 This would have to be the number 1 most OBVIOUS phishing attempt I've ever seen!! How many ways can we tell that this is a scam? A laughable attempt at scamming some people. Stay safe everyone
24.01.2022 Just a few ways to tell you have a suspicious e-mail! Stay safe everyone!
23.01.2022 NEVER give remote control of your computer to anyone you don't implicitly trust. If in doubt, DON'T. Ask questions if you need to. Giving remote access to someone gives them the right to use your computer acting as you. Think about that. They can even use your saved passwords. They can also copy and delete files, install programs, basically whatever they want. On top of that, they can lock your keyboard and mouse while they are active so you can't interrupt and they ...can even black the screen out so you can't see what they are doing. If the worst does happen, remember you can always turn the computer off by holding the power button for a few seconds, or pulling the plug. That's still better than allowing a criminal free unrestricted access to your computer! Stay safe everyone
23.01.2022 Hahaha! How many "tells" can you find in this one? This is about as obvious as they get
22.01.2022 Don't be fooled! Stay safe everyone :-)
20.01.2022 Now is the time to start planning to upgrade any Windows 7 machines you might still have!
20.01.2022 Be vigilant! Clicking the Update button would most likely cause some malicious software (virus) to be loaded into your system. Stay Safe Everyone
19.01.2022 Please be aware of this phishing scam. Stay safe everyone!
19.01.2022 I can't stress it enough!! Backups sound tedious and technical, but those who backup their important files correctly don't end up in distress when their hard drive fails or their computer is stolen. Please make sure that files you really do NOT want to lose are copied to at least one secondary location. Two is even better. And even better again is having one of your backups stored off site just in case of fire.... If you need to discuss your backup needs, drop us a line. Stay safe everyone!
19.01.2022 No, the Commonwealth Bank won't pay you to test their app! Stay safe everyone!
18.01.2022 Stay alert and stay safe everyone!

16.01.2022 Phone call scams are on the rise. Don't call back a strange number, especially overseas ones. You might be paying dollars per minute while they try to keep you on the phone as long as possible. That's just one way they are getting money. Make sure your kids with phones know about that one!... Stay safe everyone!
15.01.2022 This type of scam doesn't go straight for your money, but your information. Stay safe everyone!
15.01.2022 Everyone start getting ready... if you don't have Windows 10 yet, now is the time. Forced on us by Microsoft, there is now only one valid OS provided by Microsoft and anything else will leave you at risk.

15.01.2022 "Unfortunately modifying the caller ID is a simple technique which can be used by scammers as a way to build credibility by making a call or SMS appear to come from a reputable agency." I can't wait for the day that this becomes impossible. Or at least highly illegal. Apparently, it's perfectly fine for anybody to send e-mail/SMS to anyone and make it appear as if it came from YOU?! Ridiculously insecure system. Stay safe everyone!
14.01.2022 I am seeing a lot of similar malicious e-mail regarding energy bills lately. Don't be fooled! What is the most obvious "tell" that this is not a legit bill... besides the fact that I am not with "Energy Australia"?
13.01.2022 Great Job SAPOL! This image serves as both a warning of a new scam getting around and a great info-graphic of what kinds of things are indicative of a scam e-mail
13.01.2022 Be aware of the phishing scam 'Medicare Rebate'. Here are details about it. (28 Nov 18) Don't get caught.
12.01.2022 NO! The Australian Taxation Office does NOT call people with robotic voices claiming that you have violated whatnot. They don't do that. If you get a call from what claims to be the ATO, yet they don't know your name and call you "citizen", it's a clearly recorded message that's computer generated, just hang up and don't give it a second thought!... It's the time of year to be clearly aware that there are plenty of scammers out there trying to trick you because it's tax return time. Stay safe everyone
12.01.2022 Keep up with your Internet acronyms if you have young'ns. Here's an article that you might like to read to keep up with them. Yeet!... Stay informed, stay vigilant, stay safe everyone :-) https://staysmartonline.govcms.gov.au//do-you-know-what-yo
11.01.2022 Heads up people! Don't be burned by e-mail scams! I bet you are all well prepared, but I will always spread the warning to keep you reminded that vigilance is importance when dealing with e-mail. Stay safe everyone
08.01.2022 Well this is a new approach, but so riddled with extremely obvious 'tells' that make it very clear that this is not legit. Not the least of which is that I got the exact same message from some other identity, word for word
07.01.2022 Always check the URL. That's one of the things to do when looking at an e-mail or website to assess if it a scam. This one is highly deceptive. At first glance it looks legit. However, government websites don't end in .net. They end in .gov.au.... The site has a section to enter your bank, account number and password! This is a really strong indicator (dead giveaway really) that you're looking at a scam. No government agency is going to ask you for your banking details. Under no circumstances do you give your banking password out... ever. If you have signed into this fraudulent mygov site, you should change your real my.gov.au password immediately. Stay safe everyone!

02.01.2022 Don't get tricked by this one. I have 4 of these mails at the moment, making it really obvious that it's some kind of scam. I suspect that clicking the link will result in malware being installed. Now, how many other "tells" can YOU spot which reveal that this e-mail is not legitimate? ... Can you find the SIX signs that I did? Yup... 6!
01.01.2022 It's a good thing that these spammers are learning nothing! Some "tells" in this e-mail are underlined in red. I'm definitely not clicking that link! They can invoice me but they don't even know my name? How does that work?! ... Don't be caught out. Stay safe everyone :-)
01.01.2022 All good advice! Have a read and be reminded how to ... Stay Safe Everyone!
01.01.2022 Stay alert everyone! Tell your friends and family to always be vigilant. If it seems too good to be true, it more than likely is.
