25.01.2022 Back in January last year, Gemma gave me a wonderful birthday surprise with a trip up the East coast of Tasmania and a stay at Lisdillon Estate. Lisdillon is located near Little Swanport and dates back to the 1830s when it was a farm and salt works. Today it remains a working sheep farm and has the added bonus of being a vineyard! 24.01.2022 Yiew! Makes you just want to get out there doesn't it? No better time to explore Tassie without the hordes of tourists. Have a little slice of paradise to yourself while you can.
23.01.2022 Things have gotten a little quieter on the hiking front in recent weeks now that I'm back at work and our weekends have been filled with various tasks and things. This is a post from a wonderful evening walk I made on the 2nd of January this year. I had been wanting to go up on the mountain for ages as it is such an amazing place to have right on the edge of our city. 22.01.2022 The last leg of our journey around Iceland that would take us back around to Reykjavik is the most popular part of the country. The majority of the sights are reachable within a day and quite often, viewable from the road. For some that's the ideal way to explore nature and snap their selfies. It was still an incredible experience and the sights are just as breathtaking as anywhere else on the island but when you have to queue to see a piece of the natural world, there's something not quite right. 19.01.2022 What a special place to call home
17.01.2022 Yahoo! Just found out my photo of Hairyman has been well received by the judges and I'm a FINALIST in the national phase of the AIDR Resilient Australia Awards! How epic is that?!? Yaaaay!
16.01.2022 Last Saturday I had the immense pleasure of joining an Instameet organised by the fine people at Hobart and Beyond and Discover Tasmania, the major tourism bodies of this lovely island of ours. Regular readers of this blog will know the score, we get taken to some of the choicest locations around Tassie in order to take some photographs and help promote those areas and the local businesses we visit. 14.01.2022 Have you managed to get out into the Tasmanian bush since the lockdown's been eased? I was chomping at the bit to get back out there and finally did so last week with a jaunt up Collins Cap. Here's some video from the hike. Enjoy
14.01.2022 Well, it finally happened......we got out for a hike! There's been a bit of a (very much expected) dearth when it comes to visiting the great outdoors since Lachie was born, so it felt absolutely amazing to be out in the bush once again recently. A quick perusal through the marvellous 100 Walks in Tasmania book and we settled on a short one in Mount Field National Park, Lake Nicholls; which is on the way up to [ 638 more words ] http://czechingoutofhere.com//mount-field-lake-nicholls-w/
13.01.2022 Well there's a lifelong dream spectacle to witness possibly lost
13.01.2022 Whoooo! Delighted to win this award and represent Tassie. Huge thanks of course to Hairyman for his support and enthusiasm and for just being a dead set legend all round. Big thanks to Bodhi for helping out with the beautiful short film he put together and thanks of course to the AIDR for putting us up and having us along for the awards. It was so inspiring to see so many initiatives from young people Australia wide. The future is in safe hands.
09.01.2022 I've been wanting to sink my teeth into a long term photo-journalistic piece of work for some time now. Following on from the image I took of Dale 'Hairyman' Fullard for the Resilient Australia Awards, I think I've finally found the story I've been looking to tell. I'm going to expand on the portrait I took of Dale and gather more images and stories from as many different people as I can, in relation to bushfires in Tasmania. 07.01.2022 Happy 100th Birthday to Olympus. Have loved shooting with them since I made the switch a couple of years ago.
05.01.2022 I know I'd rather hear from experts than politicians and armchair scientists so this should be an interesting panel discussion. Starting any moment now.
04.01.2022 Let's not let Winter get cancelled in Tassie! So many things to do and places to go. The best part is on so many hikes and walks, you can have the whole place to yourself. Now that's what I call social distancing
03.01.2022 About bloody time.
02.01.2022 A little test to kick off your Hobart Show Day evening
02.01.2022 Amazing, love finding out things like this about the people we see day to day in the media but know little about. What a talent!
01.01.2022 Sounds like a bit of a journey back in the day! A lovely drive nowadays.
01.01.2022 Cheers to ABC Hobart for the chat earlier about the Resilient Australia Awards. Hopefully I can bring home the prize representing Tassie
