16.01.2022 $25,000 payout for small businesses One of the most significant offerings for small business is a grant payout of up to $25,000 for small-to-medium businesses with employees, costing a total of $6.7 billion. Businesses with turnover of up to $50 million, that employ staff in the period between January 1 and June 30 2020, will be eligible for the funding.... According to the Australian Financial Review, those that pay income tax on behalf of employees are likely to be eligible for a payment equal to 50% of employees salary, to a maximum of $25,000. Those that pay wages but are not required to pay tax are likely to receive a minimum payment of $2,000. Crucially, the government says these grants will be issued automatically, based on business activity statements or instalment activity statement from April 28. Designed to help support business and workers, the package includes:... - $500 million in payroll tax refunds for 24,000 businesses that employ around 400,000 people - Businesses that qualify will receive every dollar they have paid in payroll tax for the year to date back - the final three months of payroll tax for this financial year will be waived - $500 million fund to support sectors that are doing it "very tough". Sectors noted as being under pressure included hospitality, tourism, accommodation - Rent relief for businesses renting government properties - Liquor licenses waived for 12,500 venues - Balance of package will "support people who have lost their jobs"

07.01.2022 If youve received a government stimulus payment this financial year, do you know whether you need to include it in your tax return? Different payment types are... reported differently: JobKeeper payments if youre an employee these will be included on your income statement as salary and wages or an allowance. JobSeeker payments need to be included in your tax return and will also be included on your Centrelink payment summary. Accessed super you dont need to pay tax on COVID-19 early release of super amounts, so you dont need to include this in your tax return. No need to manually fill this out, most info will be automatically included in your tax return by late July.
