Most times the skin is inflamed, bumpy or uneven, flakey and sensitive to the touch. 19.01.2022 We all know we need to exfoliate to remove build up? But how do we know what product and why?? There are a few different types of exfoliants available to use on our face. We have mechanical exfoliants, products that have physical granules in them assisting in removal of build up. These exfoliants are only recommended to use very lightly and only 1-2 times per week. Any excessive use can cause mirco abrasions on the skin and intern damage your barrier.... We also have chemical exfoliants. These exfoliants come with lactic acid, glycolic acid or salicylic acid. These exfoliants work on a cellular level, when used every day or every second day, they turn over the skin quicker, shedding unwanted buildup. There is also fruit enzymes, these ingredients work very similar to chemical exfoliants but can be compounded from naturally grown plants. Both chemical and fruit enzymes work by breaking down the glue holding dead skin together. These two methods are a lot more gentler on the skin and can be over all, good for skin health. Finally there are also in salon treatments for exfoliation, including, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and peels. 09.01.2022 Argh, we are all feeling it at the moment. Whether it be internal or external stress, it can show on our skin. It can cause acne or breakouts, rashes/hives or eczema, hair loss, weight loss or gain and all these are visible on your skin. I for one, know the effects of stress on the body. I feel its important to "switch off". I aim to prioritise my duties and allow some down time, not everyday but a few times a week - self care at the moment is very important. Somethings I do include: listen to podcasts, workout, call a friend, a full body massage or watch youtube. My list and your list can be completely different, and that is the best thing about self care, it only has to please you. Have you adapted a new "self care" activity? I would love to try some new ones this weekend.
