24.01.2022 Here is another one of our friends from Cassowary Falls. These Saw-shelled turtles (Myuchelys latisternum) get their name from the rear of their shell resembling a cross cut saw. They live from the top of Queensland down to northern NSW. They are another one that loves to eat anything and everything! From fish, frogs insects and crustaceans, through to fruits, leaves and algae. They are also one of the very few animals able to eat cane toads! Fortunately though, humans toes are not on the menu!

23.01.2022 Guess where the worlds biggest mouth lives. Right here in FNQ! The Hercules moth (Coscinocera hercules) has a wingspan of 27cm, although the biggest one ever discovered had a wingspan of 36cm! These amazing moths have no mouths, so only live around a week as a moth, but, can spend up to two years in a cocoon! Photo was taken by Chris, one of our amazing guides.... 08.01.2022 Here is one of our friendly Jungle Perch (Kuhlia rupestris) that inhabit the beautiful Cassowary Falls. These are common in all the freshwater streams of Far North Queensland, but are also found from the western Indian Ocean region, north to Japan, and east to Fiji and Samoa. They are definitely not fussy when it comes to eating. Insects, crustaceans, small fishes and even fruit are all on the menu. They are popular for the fisher people, but thankfully for these guys, tha...t are protected in national parks throughout Queensland.
