25.01.2022 Look Out The Daintree has been showing her finest colours this last few weeks, with a long hot drought being broken by downpours that have lasted days, not hours. This shot, taken from the lookout at the top of Alexandra Range, shows the mist generated by the sheer volume of water that has been absorbed by the forest under a dramatic grey sky. Just visible are Snapper Island and the mouth of the flooded Daintree River. If you can, zoom in to see the colour of the water pump...ing into the sea like a mushroom cloud!! 22.01.2022 Tree in the Sea Cowie beach can be found half way along the infamous Bloomfield Track, and if you set out to design a beach that was perfect for photographers, this would be it. The gently sloping each means that low tide offers a vast landscape with gentle ripples on the water, protected by the fringing reef. These solitary mangroves clinging to the sand seem to defy nature, and stand firm and unchanged for years.... Prints and more available @ daintreephotography.com.au

20.01.2022 So today I spotted this guy hiding in the forest :) www.daintreephotography.com.au

17.01.2022 Meeting of the Waters A great day for photos today (between tropical downpours of course) It's amazing how quickly the rivers and creeks are responding to every shower of rain at the minute. The ground is so saturated that it doesn't take much to transform crystal clear waters into raging brown torrents of water. This spot in Whyanbeel Valley is fascinating, as two creeks converge in this corner and flow away together. Where the two streams meet they seem to repel each oth...er, reluctant to merge. It can bee seen in this pano, and also in an abstract I took which will be posted in the coming days. Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

17.01.2022 Moody Blues A five minute exposure of the Southern Inlet at Newell Beach, during which I was bitten by around 5376 separate mosquitoes. The glassy effect of the water on an overcast day really grabs me in this shot, with the cool blue tones reflecting the gloomy conditions of a wet day in the tropics.... 16.01.2022 A very dramatic Re-Edit of a shot taken a long time ago up near South Noah Beach. Very different from my usual style, but I enjoyed having a play around with the image to create something with a mystical, fantasy look. Very intense colours, but a very selective range and an exceptionally clear and crisp view have come together well to give this result Adrian... www.daintreephotography.com.au See more

15.01.2022 Another shot of the Boyd's Forest Dragon I stumbled upon near Cow Bay last weekend. These guys are so confident of their camouflage that they will just sit still until they are sure they have been seen. This shot was taken with the lens no more than 30cm from the dragon, and he still showed no sign of moving! www.daintreephotography.com.au

13.01.2022 Four Days (click for full photo) Four Days a year this creek flows through our yard in Cow Bay, and Four Days is also how long we have been looking out at the most incredible wet spell in this amazing place. Driveways have become beautiful flowing creeks, and creeks have become raging torrents. A very wet Christmas and a very spectacular scene for those of us lucky enough to be flooded in on this side of the river.... Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

10.01.2022 Mist Over Lake Eacham Sometimes I like to sit on an image for a while before I make up my mind about it. Six years is a long time even for me though! I remember the morning I captured this image like it was last week, and I have revisited both the photo and the location many times since but I think I have finally cracked it.... 10.01.2022 Another view of the stars shining through as the sun starts to rise at Cow Bay. The haze generated by the extreme heatwave and various fires across Queensland a few weeks ago when this shot was captured gave some absolutely incredible sunrises. The horizon was already on fire as the stars still shone brightly above, with just me, my camera and possibly the odd crocodile on the beach to witness the spectacle :) Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

08.01.2022 Last Light at Noah Creek One of my favourite places to be has to be the estuary of Noah Creek, on the Daintree Coast. A beautiful 2km stretch of deserted sand leads you to this breathtaking sight, with the channel narrowing and swinging to the North to create the perfect viewing platform high and dry away from the crocs :) I had come to this spot to watch the sun go down on a beautiful summers evening. As so often happens, the dark clouds rolled in as the light began to fad...e and created the dramatic textures in the sky. This was the last shot I took as the scene descended into darkness and I realised that I didn't pack my torch again. Looks like I'll be running back to the car then Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

06.01.2022 Platypus Square Before the rains arrived, I went for a short walk up Oliver Creek. The water level was low, but crystal clear and the reflections on the surface of this deep pool were deep, rich and magnificent. As you will know if you live in the area the Daintree looks a bit different to this right now, with the weather giving us a relentless battering of wind and rain over the Christmas period. Should lead to some great opportunities for some photography but for now it's... simply too wet to venture out with a camera (Even the ferry has just shut up shop due to flooding and it takes a LOT to stop those guys!) 06.01.2022 Oliver Last Saturday, I took a long walk up Oliver Creek, right in the heart of the Daintree. Glad I did, since we are once again flooded in for a few days of torrential rain. This is one of my favourite locations to visit - The creek is just a perfect size and offers spectacular views at nearly every turn. Although I went further up the creek than I'd been before this time I took this shot close to the start, in the beautiful soft early morning light.... I was drawn to the scene, and sat down to take a photo and enjoy a coffee (How did I ever survive without my Thermos Michelle Tallier) Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

05.01.2022 Another fairly minimalist shot taken at Palm Cove last week. If you have been in the Far North in the last couple of weeks you'll be familiar with the incredibly hazy conditions we have been having. This is what allowed me to isolate the jetty and the men fishing in the hot and steamy early morning. This shot was captured at about 7am on what was already a very warm day, with the horizon barely visible and almost all colour bleached from the scene (this photo has not been... desaturated - it really is what was captured like this in camera) Hope you like the effect and I'm very happy to say that the unbearable conditions seem to be coming to an end at last! 04.01.2022 Over The Water Following on form the last photo I posted, this is another shot from the same location at the mouth of Noah Creek. I have always admired these trees, with their twisted forms standing out like silver in the green of the surrounding vegetation. Again, I have used a long exposure here to soften the reflections on the water and the sky.... Another beautiful moment from a very peaceful shoot Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

04.01.2022 Sunrise Over Rocks Another favourite spot of mine along the Daintree Coast this one; the rocks at the southern end of Cow Bay. I was a little late arriving for this beautiful sunrise (missed the 4.30 alarm) and the sun was already threatening to pop over the horizon when I arrived at the beach. I decided to take a walk around the rocks, since I hadn't done so for a while and I was not disappointed. ... The sun cast a beautiful purpley type light over Cow Bay, and if you look closely you'll see that the famous Thornton Peak rockslide is still very obvious from here Prints and more available from www.daintreephotography.com.au

03.01.2022 Take Two What a way to start 2019. More than a metre of rain in the last week, one cyclone gone and another on her way and a morning out exploring for me. I took a drive to Emmagen Creek this morning, and found the crossing has been temporarily transformed with a turquoise torrent of water flowing out towards the coral sea.... Not great news for the couple of cars waiting to cross but a spectacular sight and well worth the trip (twice, since I arrived without a battery the first time) Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

02.01.2022 Another shot from last weekend, taken at Port Douglas this time. The dark, low blanket of cloud had obscured all but the slightest glimpse of colour for most of the sunset. As it began to spread out and break up a little this scene presented itself with an intense window of oranges and reds set perfectly above the boat. I set the horizon very low in the frame, because I was amazed at how the textures of the thick dark clouds contrasted with the light, colourful layers th...at lay above. Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au

01.01.2022 This image of the Sugar Wharf in Port Douglas was taken when the last light of the day had more or less faded. The camera was able to capture these beautiful purple hues reflected on the water and a nice long exposure was possible because of the lack of light. This blurred the water and added to the soft, ethereal feeling of the scene. Adrian www.daintreephotography.com.au
