24.01.2022 Heres a lil favourite of mine - the HaPI logo HaPI was created for an app, so named because it is a Hospital and Patient Interface. 20.01.2022 White space Its important, ok? What exactly is white space, you ask? It is the area between design elements. It is also the space within individual design elements. Despite its name, white space does not need to be white. It can be any colour, texture, pattern, or background image. Frustratingly, so many clients consider white space wasted space... Thinking it could be used to house more information or other visual elements Umm, no!... Clean, uncluttered design promotes elegance and is essential for a balanced and harmonious layout. It balances design elements and better organises content. Without it, the design would look overcrowded and overpowering. Do we want information and design to bombard us? Yeah nah. Its *Rihanna singing voice* Proof proof proof proof proof proof Im currently working on lots of printing jobs, and Im finding myself repeating the same thing to my clients - dont just skim over artwork, be checkin it thoroughly! If its a poster or a 100+ page catalogue - Check the spelling, the contact details, the images, the sizing, and the specs. ... Then, do it again. Thennn, get someone with fresh eyes to do the same. Kinda like designing Get it? The Daiquiri allows for personalised taste (or aesthetic taste, as per business branding) as you can add the fruit of your choice to give it your fave colour and tang.... 17.01.2022 Taking it back to 2015! This was the fourth edition of the Turner Hastings Catalogue that I worked on, which also included a Corporate Profile. It was a massive project at over 250 pages, 500+ products, a fold-out colour selector, and full specifications! Well worth it though - the client was very happy with the finished product... Im Heidi, and Im the one that does the designing I decided to start Daiquiri Design way back in 2004 after working in Marketing and realising answering to a boss wasnt muccch fun. I was only 22 but I knew I could totally do it on my own. I applied for NEIS (new enterprise incentive scheme), and off I went...... Then BOOM! Suddenly Im 37 and fairly chuffed I made the leap. A variety of colours were used, with the main colour teal, to create a logo which symbolises the great community spirit of the school. ... 10.01.2022 To run a successful business Insta account, Ive been told many times over that I have to make it personal. That its vital that Im relatable, so I can connect to my target audience... Urg, okkk then. So, Im Heidi and Im pretty bossy. Im a peacekeeper and a natural mediator, yet Im hopeless at communicating for myself. Instead I prefer the method of being sorta passive aggressive. Eeeks. Im a big butter and salt fan. True tolerance and acceptance are... ace. Love wins. Feminism 4 lyf. I am no fan of judgemental people, but then again, errr, I kinda am one at times. I need to work on that. Im a late person. Soz in advance. I have two daughters. Stevie, named after Fleetwood Macs Stevie Nicks, and Lotus. Her name derived from Christina Aguileras album Lotus, but to pretend Im cool I tell most people she was named after the Lotus flower and its ancient Buddhism symbolism. Like most Mothers, I cherish wine. I like to think I can see two sides of a story. Conflict makes me awkies and anxious. Feelings are difficult to talk about. I love trash tv. I procrastinate. A messy house shits me. My ego also shits me. I adore roast pumpkin. If you dont like it, you clearly arent cooking it properly. Cheesy romantic moments make me cringe. And eye roll. Im sorta vain. Do you stand stationary on travelators? Its not a ride! Please, just walk. Sarcasm is my friend. As is a cheese platter. I prefer to think, write and express things correctly rather than speak and get it wrong. I have two prominent and permanent horizontal dents on my legs from a time I sat in the baby seat of a shopping trolley at 2am, drunk, and it crashed. I shant be doing that again. I have a celeb crush on @shawnmendes. Yes, I know hes only 20. No, thats not weird at all. Im chronically indecisive. But never about loads of garlic prawns in a hot pot served with soft yet crusty bread. It is perfection. As are people with an open mind and a kind heart. 09.01.2022 Even though websites are no longer my thing, yesterday I worked on my sister Toni’s biz website @massesoflashes www.massesoflashes.com.au I’ve made some important changes, making the site more user friendly and, of course, prettier. I’ve also been editing bits and pieces so that navigation is easier and products and quantities are categorised more effectively. In addition, since March I’ve completely taken over the Masses of Lashes Insta and email marketing, ra...mping up the social campaign and shining a light on all of the fab lash products that Masses of Lashes stock! I’ve been loving the marketing side - thinking of strategies to gain more sales and continue to connect to the current customers AND, this weekend we’ll be doing a huge photo shoot to update the products pics on the website Can’t wait! 09.01.2022 Well, after working all day yesterday until midnight, and most of today - we have lift off! After well over a year of no website (), Ive just launched my new online presence. Hurrah! 08.01.2022 Who doesnt love a Friday (or Tuesday) afternoon cocktail? Youll need: Cracked ice Juice of two limes... One teaspoon sugar syrup 90ml traditional Barcardi Put loads of cracked ice into a cocktail shaker. Pour the lime juice, sugar syrup and rum over the ice. Shake thoroughly until a frost forms, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. I love to muddle in strawberry and guava into the mix - delish! Heidi x See more

08.01.2022 In 2017 I was lucky enough to design the logo for the brand new Wentworth Point Public School I worked with the principal Ms Rose Manousaridis and the local community to create a concept which included the unique triangular shape of the schools main building, the white-bellied sea eagle and the Parramatta River In designing the logo, the native eagle was of upmost importance as it inhabits the local area and was used to remind of the power, beauty and the vulnera...bility of the natural environment The bird, looking forward with a strong sense of purpose was intended to inspire the students to have the same courage and resolve Lime and navy blue were chosen as we wanted the logo to POP, and steer away from traditional (and sometimes daggy ) school colours. 06.01.2022 My most recently completely project! The brand new logo for Mt Annan cafe @wilddragonflycafe. New owner Kylie wanted a circular logo which included flowers and a dragonfly (of course). A brand thats fresh, happy and fun! I ended up going OTT and providing 10 initial concepts, and after one small change to this logo, we were done!... 04.01.2022 So it’s 2021 and somehow I didn’t post once on my Daiquiri socials in 2020 But if there was a year to completely skip, last year was definitely the one! So, how do I sum up a year of work in one post? Unfortunately I cannot, so I’ll quickly run you through the larger projects of 2020, and post about more in the coming weeks...... I was lucky enough to continue to design more Furniture One catalogues and broadsheets! I also developed the new Organic Rituals logo, packaging, and marketing material, as well as working a whole lot for Fastlane Karting Sydney; managing their socials and editing their website, as well as all sorts of design including signage, brochures, flyers, race event logos (plus SO much more). 2020 was definitely a busy one! In 2021 I’ll be working five days a week - the first time I’ll be working five days since 2012! I’m now able to as my youngest daughter Lotus begins Kindy next week (despite her protests that she’s NEVER going to school, and will instead watch TV for the rest of her life). I do disagree with her, however... Both Stevie and Lotus being in school will give me the opportunity to get stuck into a larger workload in 2021! I am feeling refreshed and ready for the new year after my girls and I had a great holiday in Forster last week (the pic is of Lotus and I enjoying lunch at Si Señorita Forster. Delish! ). I’m now back in the office, and ready to take on new and exciting design projects! Can’t wait to hear from old and new clients, and I hope you are all ready for a better year ahead... Heidi x

03.01.2022 Back in November Jess contacted me wanting a logo for her new salon @ivyandritzhair in Woonona. She wanted something eye catching and classy, and it also had to appeal to both women and men. She felt that simple was best! Jess sent me through some images which best represented the colour scheme she wanted - this was a big help when designing the initial concepts.
