The best way to determine if you have a mineral deficiency is to randomly use a supplement on half ...your herd ie odd or even tag numbers then ask a third person to evaluate each group 6 weeks later without letting them know which is which. 23.01.2022 Ok lots of shows have been cancelled this year, some will be feeling lost and others will be making the most of their spare time to catch up on jobs. Let’s spread some cheer and happiness by posting some pictures here please. You can post pictures of your Milkers, new babies or goatlings. Why not some of your feeders, shed etc. You can make a comment or just leave a pic. post in the comments or on the visitors posts. Which ever suits you. I would like to let you all know I am not standing for Federal Publicity Officer this year and will be passing this page back to the Administrator. 19.01.2022 Udders on bucks Some Saanen bucks can develop milk and udders. If you want to select for good udder shape then select bucks whose mothers, sisters and daughter...s have good udders. 06.01.2022 Zoom Worm Control Training I have just set up some worm control training meetings for Australian goat owners in various categories: - milking goats (1.30pm Sat ...12 th Sept Brisbane time or GMT +10) - miniature goats (1.30pm Sun 13th Sept) - novice pet wether owners (1.30pm Sat 19 Sept) - meat goats. (1.30pm Sunday 20 Sept) I will be limiting participants to 5 people each so that people can ask lots of questions. Participants can then (if they wish) do a 2 page written exam & send in a video of using a dummy FAMACHA card so they can get accredited and then buy a FAMACHA card from the ANZCVS I have done the on-line Zoom training videos and had some practice sessions and teach student vet nurses each week but must admit I feel a bit nervous about the technology and internet speeds. Email me ([email protected]) if you want to take part. There is a small charge which will help offset my time, the Zoom pro costs & for up-grading my internet speed. Therefore I will only schedule 2 before doing more. I am interested in people's thoughts re the best times (I am trying to avoid school hours and peak Netflix times). See more

03.01.2022 I was asked about which worm drenches can be used in Australian milking goats. There are only 2 drenches registered for goats whose milk is used for human consu...mption - Panacur (and similar white drenches) and Caprimec, now called Virbamec oral. However the labels dose rates are only for sheep - you need a vet's prescription for the different higher dose rates for goats. Vet's are welcome to email me for a copy of mine and the paraboss team will send vet's an email about the regulations in each state. See more
