05.01.2022 From this (photo 1) To this (photo 2) In just a few sunny hours. Another Dakota Homes project in Diamond Creek getting going. ... Have a great week people.

02.01.2022 Hello again from Mickleham display home! The Merrifield display village is really starting to take shape. These posts are a bit behind what is actually happening on site at our home, and today we had the plumbing fixtures installed- which look awesome! I’ll get to that in a few weeks but I’ll continue where I left off last week. ... In my last exciting post, we were getting the home ready for the plaster to be installed. We did our rough ins and lock ups and lastly we installed the insulation in the walls and ceilings. A very important step that you wouldn’t want to miss! Plaster board gets delivered to site and then our good friend Michael Sheean and his team from Stoddart Linings come in and hang all the plaster to the walls and ceilings. Within hours the house is transformed from a timber frame to a home. At this stage it becomes real! You can see the size of the rooms and how everything flows... or doesn’t flow depending on if Rob from Design Vision got it right Only kidding, at Dakota Homes we always gets it right. Once the plaster is hung, the stopping up of all the joins in the plaster and corners happens. Within days the plaster work is complete and we are ready for the chippies to come in and begin hanging the doors and installing the skirtings and architraves. Also just around the corner is the install of the staircase and the kitchen cupboards. Exciting times ahead. I hope everyone is enjoying this process as much as I am bringing it to you.... See you all next post. Stay safe and stay happy.

01.01.2022 Our keysborough build going well - thanks to W&M Cabinets for the shout out!

01.01.2022 Hello FB friends, and welcome back to the Mickleham display home series. In our last post we finished up the plaster work and were getting ready to start fixing the house out- which in simple terms means, installing the internal doors, architraves and skirtings. My favourite Columbian carpenters, Esty, Juan, Hector and George are the best. Polite, punctual, hardworking and just all round great boys. ... Dakota Homes wouldn’t be the same without them. Also at this stage we install the stairs, kitchen and waterproof the wet areas ready for tiling. So plenty going on inside the home and some other stuff going on outside the home. With the scaffold up we complete the brickwork, install the eaves, painting, render, install the downpipes, and finally clean the windows. As you can imagine it’s a lot to coordinate but it’s also very satisfying when it all comes together. Having the scaffolding up is expensive but obviously needed for safety of our trades, and any extra time the scaffold is up, is just throwing away money. Our good friends at Statewide Scaffold look after us but it’s still a thing we need to be mindful of. At this stage inside the home you really start to see all your selections come together. Shae my lovely wife has had heaps to say with the selections and I think she has done a great job. With the styling still to happen, I had better be nice. What do you think of the kitchen? We went with a timber look laminate with white Vinyl Wrap base cabinets. Adam from W&M Cabinets not only did the most perfect job with all our cabinets, he also organised Polytec to supply the board for next to nothing. If you ever need cabinets for your builds, I couldn’t recommend Adam and his crew more highly. His only downfall is he is a Cats supporter In real time this week, I have been building the decking and pergola off the living and dining room. It’s coming up a treat, and will add another dimension to this beautiful home with outdoor living. Like most things I do, I go big, and this pergola is certainly that. I look forward to bringing you some shots of this real soon. If you have got this far you deserve a big thank you for reading another Dakota Homes post. I hope you enjoyed it! Catch ya next time....
