25.01.2022 Meet Harley! Harley is an original 1960's push along toy dog , all original Made by Jakas Toys Australia Very good condition for age. Pop on down and meet Harley, take him for a spin.... He would be the best pet you could ever possibly own, cheap to feed , no vet bills , won't run away and you don't have to carry a plastic bag with you when you take him for walk to clean up after him. 24.01.2022 Just back with another load of furniture. This time i was lucky enough to find some interesting bits and pieces. An original northern european Saratoga baltic pine trunk, excellent condition. A silky oak open front bookcase , solid but needs a tidy up. An english oak bureau with 2 glass doors at top , good solid condition but it also requires some TLC.... A silky oak freestanding cabinet with multiple internal shelves , solid but also needs a bit of attention. And finally a 2 door silky oak cabinet , that has me perplexed, in that I have no idea of what it would originally been used for, anyone got any suggestions? Will get to and tidy most of these up in the coming days/weeks and then put them out for sale. There was more that I bought today but couldn't fit it all on the back of the ute so as soon as is practical i will return with more! See more

22.01.2022 Good morning all. I am need of some help. This extremely unusual shovel and I crossed paths the other day and I am at a loss as to it's use. It is very old, very solid, rustic and extremely well made. Please have a look at the photos and give me your collective thoughts, To be honest I have no idea.

22.01.2022 Time for another " where am I?" Competition Today after I closed the shop I had a delivery . Where i went was to what was originally a one teacher school that is now a private home. The school was officially closed in 1995. The hamlet where this original school house is just under an hour from Dalby and in it's prime boasted 2 hotels, all gone now however.... Boasts a very well maintained cemetery ,lot of early settlers. Please be very specific with your guess. Hint , called in to this pub for a lemonade on the way home. Same deal as always first correct answer gets via freepost a tin of wax and a bottle of orange oil. Go on have a crack. See more

22.01.2022 Out and about early today despite the rain and found this wonderful nest of Qld Maple tables. Very good condition and extremely practical. Hope the rain holds off today, friends of mine have come to Dalby for a Men of League charity golf day, too much rain may partially spoil the day but given how well I know these blokes they will enjoy themselves even if the golf is disrupted, they are all very imaginative, inventive and adaptive when it comes to having a good time! http://www.dalbygolfclub.com.au/pdfs/Dalby%20Golf%20Day.pdf

20.01.2022 Meet Godzilla! This monster late 19th century baltic pine gentleman's press is bigger than big! 2120mm high , 1320mm wide and 670mm deep. Three slide out trays enclosed behind 2 doors and 2 half drawers and 2 full drawers below. Wonderful natural soft baltic pine colours with loads of natural patina as would be expected with a press of this age, 130 years plus,. note the last photo of one of blacksmith made nails from it. ... Would have been designed to house the folded clothes ( shirts , jumpers etc.) of a gentleman. Fortunately it disassembles in to 3 pieces for transportation. Now to find a spot for it in the shop, any volunteers out there willing to give me a hand to move godzilla around, would be better than a work out at the gym! See more

20.01.2022 How cool is this! Just perfect for the mancave/bbq area or even as wood storage beside the wood heater. How good would it look filled with ice and cold beer! All polished up now and in wonderful condition. It was originally the insert out of an old copper boiler, 16 gallon ( large size).... These don't come up very often now. Stand has been made to suit. $395.00 See more

20.01.2022 Just finished another restoration. Today it is an original colonial hoop pine gypsy table. Turned legs with hexagonal top. Lovely soft natural aged patina Finished with natural shellac and buffed with soft beeswax

17.01.2022 Just finished giving this old wool classing table a freshen up. It came in a month or so back and I have just found time to give the love and attention it so desperately needed. Very time consuming project in that the timber was heavy with wool fat lanolin and was difficult to get to the stage the finish could be applied, kept clogging up the sand paper. It now looks the goods, finished with outdoor furniture oil, perfect for the back deck , resists all weather conditions, low sheen finish. Sorry but it is already sold and will be heading to Goondiwindi in due course and will have a toughened glass top fitted, how good will that be !

16.01.2022 From a more gracious and elegant time. Have a look at this wonderfully comfortable split cane verandah chair. It came in a couple of days ago and i have just finished giving it a freshen up. Looks pretty good now, very strong and solid. From a relaxed more gracious time when everyone had time to sit , relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures

15.01.2022 Time for another what is it? This unusual little apparatus came in a few days ago. Dates from the 1930's Same deal as always , first to correctly guess what it is wins a bottle of Gilly Stephensons orange oil , freepost if need. Go on have a crack at what it is.... Sorry no hints with this one, i think it will be fairly easy to guess and it's use is very obvious. Thanks to Steve from Central Pool Care for his detailed camera work in making this masterpiece of cinemaphotography possible! See more

14.01.2022 I never really know what's coming through the front door. Today it is something completely foreign to me but am learning as I go. This unique little item is a 1930 Tool Kit holder (complete with mounting bracket) that suits a 1930 Harley Davidson VLD 750 motor bike. Pretty cool piece in it's own right but to an avid collector this is pure gold. Not sure how much to price it at , anyone got any suggestions on it's value.... Thanks in advance to all for any help See more

09.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that I will be taking a short break and the shop will be closed as from tomorrow Sat. 6th March and will not be reopening until Mon. 15th March. Whilst away I hope to stumble upon some different and eclectic items for the shop, keep your eyes peeled for any posts that I may put up during my sojourn. I am sorry if the holiday closure causes any inconvenience to anyone.

08.01.2022 This incredible baltic pine saratoga trunk came in a few days ago. It was in excellent condition but this morning I came in early this morning to beat the heat and gave it a quick spruce up, lightly sanded it , then applied a couple of coats of natural shellac and then buffed it with soft beeswax. It shines now. Larger size . 985mm wide , 600mm high and 550mm deep. Great storage piece for the home , kids toys , shoes , etc.... Here's a bit a of quick quiz, who knows why they made these saratoga trunks with domed lids? 2 reasons , don't google it have an educated guess. See more

08.01.2022 Old world style and luxury , this outstanding luxury cotton Marcella quilt has it in spades. Found it then other day, all wrapped up in a cupboard, looks like it has never been used. Beautifully decorated patterned quilt. It is stunning. I washed it, and have spread it out on a bed at home.... It is a double bed size, approx. 1700mm x 2200mm. Will fold it up and take it in to the shop tomorrow. Sorry about the quality of the photos, will see what I can do to improve them, they don't do this quilt justice. See more

07.01.2022 Have a look at this beauty. An original Australian Red Cedar miners couch in terrific condition given its age, at least 100 years old. Needs a bit of TLC but will get to it when time permits. As an aside , I would just like everyone to know that I am taking a break next week and the shop will be closed for all or most of next week , beginning on Sat. 6th March

07.01.2022 Every now and then something comes in to the shop that piques my interest. Today one such piece did exactly that, this wonderful very kitsch 1960's Clown biscuit barrel came in. Immaculate condition, never used. Note , 35/- written inside lid and on upper left side of face of clown, have a guess what that it stands for, I know and i imagine only those amongst us of my vintage or older will know.

03.01.2022 Started to clean up the back shed this morning, moved a few things around, found some stuff that I had forgotten about and threw some rubbish out (not too much though). During my spring clean i dug out this wonderful multi drawer cabinet that was stuffed in to a corner , gave it a bit of a dust off and repositioned it. 3 upper shelves , 18 multi drawers and shelf at the bottom. Good condition and somewhat ( bloody ) heavy. Million and one uses around the house.... 1350mm wide , 1900mm high and 400mm deep See more
