13.01.2022 Q & A T H U R S D A Y D E A N C O X ... How long have you been playing footy & when did you start at the sharks ? I started playing football at the age of 7 and played for 27 years. I played at the sharks until I was 17 before moving to Perth. Always wanted to come back up and play with my brother but that unfortunately didn’t eventuate. Why the Sharks? What drew you to the Club? I was very fortunate that I lived in Dampier. The club was always a place you wanted to spend more and more time at. My mates started my passion for football, my coaches built my love for the game and taught me all the fundamentals I needed to develop to continually improve. Any Nicknames ? Coxy, Big Bird and Snoz. Best memory/memories on the field or around the club ? Playing with mates, the bus trips to play a Hedland side, having night games at the best oval in the country and watching a best mate trip over running into an open goal. Where are you now, what does your life look like? I live in Sydney and am very fortunate to still be involved in football. Coach at the Sydney Swans and trying to find the balance between work and family time. Describe your perfect day off.. Pack an esky, launch the boat, head out in the Dampier Archipelago towards my shack in Brumbles Marsh Bay with family and friends. Fish and relax. Still miss this and wish I could do it more frequently. Any off-field secret talents ? Tipping horse winners. Best life tip/hack? Nothing comes easy. You get out of life what you put in. What would you like the club to look like for 2021, advice for current players, volunteers, supporters etc? A club that plays a brand it is known for - competitive and ruthless. Wear the jumper with pride - enjoy the times while they last, put in more than you take as the club will provide you with endless friendships and memories. GO YOU SHARKERS....! Dean & Dicko We're excited to start up our Past & Present Player Q&As again! We'll be getting in touch with past & present players, but if there is someone you want to dob in, please comment or flick us a message!
