20.01.2022 Just in case you were ever wondering what the life of a truck driver is all about.... pretty accurate Effective immediately, every employee is required to remain in the office 24 hours a day starting Sunday afternoons at 5:00pm. Each employee will remain in the office and will not go home until Friday night possible Saturday morning.... Occasions may arise when employees will not be allowed to go home every other weekend. In these cases, we will attempt to make arrangements that the employee be home the following weekend if we can work it out to get you there. Each employee must bring all clothing and personal necessities that they require with them on Sunday. The company will provide a storage space approximately 2 feet wide by 2 feet deep by 5 feet tall for each employee to store their personal items. The employee should be aware however, that this space is subject to inspection by company or government personnel. Employees will be given a single bed mattress to sleep on. Employees must provide their own bedding. Your sleeping environment may be very noisy and there will likely be several interruptions of sleep during each evening. All personal phone calls and business calls will be made via employees’ cell phones which they will be solely responsible for paying for. Public restrooms, and showers will be provided, but bring your own towel and you may have to pay for these services. Employees will bring their own food for the week or eat fast food. Either way, the employee will not be allowed to eat at home. During their nonworking hours, employees will be allowed to participate in any activity they choose, so long as it is in the place they finished their last shift, and does not involve spending time with their children or significant others. Furthermore, each employee will be required to maintain a record of how they spend their day. These logs will be submitted daily to the company to be audited by company personnel. The amount of time given to complete their work will be strictly regulated and occasionally, the employee will be given more work than they can complete in the allotted time. You must adjust your records to show that you completed the tasks in the time allotment. Any violations of the regulations will result in either a reprimand, or in some cases termination. Employees will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing and of course, if any alcohol is found in your work place (even if it’s just stored away for your free time) you may be terminated. Also, you will only receive pay for your regular shift and there will be no compensation for the non working time. In occasional circumstances, there may be a token financial "gift" given for non working hours. This however, will only apply if certain criteria are met, and is approved by management and our clients. The general public would think this harsh, but this is how truckie's live in order to get the job done.

19.01.2022 Anzac Day might look a little different this year, But our respect wont. 07.01.2022 Our additional member feature for the week is, Danni Kempton. Danni is a finalist for the Women in Industry 'Excellence in Transport' Award. Danni first entere...d the transport industry in 1996 in a bookkeeper only capacity for her dad and uncles’ transport businesses. Then after some persuasion from her partner at the time, in 1999 Dananni Haulage was started and she bought her first truck, a used 8t Hino and they started doing HOTSHOTS to the north west of WA. This quickly progressed to urgent freight deliveries into the mines in the NT and north Qld and the offshore industry. The urgency for the freight created the need for two drivers. When employing drivers to fill the role of a two-up driver, Danni learned that a lot of those applying for the job had no experience or interest in the transport industry and could not find a job anywhere else. So she decided that if these people were going to come into this industry that we would teach and train them and the rest of the industry would know if a driver was wearing a Dananni shirt he/she was competent to be in this industry and that all their drivers would be fully CoR compliant. Not an easy task at all when most wouldn’t listen to a sheila or only wanted to talk to her ‘husband’. Danni realised if she was going to make it in this industry that she’d better get her act together and learn what she was talking about. So, learn it she did. She spent weeks, then months researching rules, responsibilities and the different laws across the jurisdictions so that she would know what she had to do to keep her people alive as well as everyone else on the road. Nearly 21 years later, this process has Dananni sitting with zero incidents. Thanks for your ongoing support to TWAL and the transport industry Danni! If you are a TWAL Individual Member or Corporate Member and would like to be featured on our social media pages, please email a profile of yourself in 300 words or less and a photo to [email protected] #twal #transportwomenaustralia #drivingthedifference #transportindustry #memberprofile #memberspotlight #memberengagement #membershipmatters #connections #transportation #equality #equalityanddiversity

06.01.2022 How did you pay your respects to our Anzac's today? Did you do the dawn driveway tribute? At a memorial? Whilst watching TV footage? Me, I did the driveway tribute with the last post on the radio, with candle in hand watching as the neighbours join in. Anzac day may not be as we know it today, or ever again, but I don't think I'll ever lose that lump in my throat with heartfelt gratitude for those who served to protect us, . You really are the greatest people WA.

03.01.2022 21 today we're 21 today Yes that's right, 21 years ago today this little pink HOTSHOT transport company was created to support the needs of the oil & gas industry. Thank you to all my staff and drivers over the years that have helped support these clients. When our first client is still using us 21 years later we must be doing something right.
