24.01.2022 Important changes coming to Dance Culture to keep us all safe (and in business). * BEGINNING TOMORROW (Sunday 2 August) * All students and staff will have their temperature measured upon arrival at Dance Culture. We will be using a contactless forehead thermometer.... Students are also encouraged to start wearing face masks especially for partnered dance classes. We strongly recommend that all students return to greeting each other using elbow taps rather than hugs. For now, staff are not allowed to greet students with hugs, sorry. * BEGINNING SOON (Approx 10 August) * We have ordered disposable face masks that will be available at reception, at-cost, at approximately $10 for 20 masks. As soon at they arrive Dance Culture will move to a policy requiring masks for all partnered dancing during classes. In the meantime you are welcome and encouraged to source your own masks, disposable or reusable, and start wearing them as soon as you have them. Household/romantic partners who do not want to wear face masks may elect to dance only with each other. All classes will continue to be livestreamed to our active members for those who are unable or uncomfortable with attending in-studio classes.

21.01.2022 New timetable starting this Sunday! Please check your classes as there have been some changes to times and Green Belt classes have returned. NEW student-run practica will be held on Fridays fortnightly. --- We are COVIDSafe. If you are unwell, please stay home. We follow the Queensland government's health guidelines for the Dance & Performing Industry.... In addition, assuming the order of face masks arrives on time, we will start requiring masks for partnered classes from Sunday and the masks will be available at-cost from reception (approx $11 for 20 masks - cheaper than local pharmacy and better reviews for quality/comfort). All staff and students must sanitise their hands on arrival and regularly during their attendance at the studio. We are also taking non-contact temperature readings to ensure that noone has a fever.

19.01.2022 Hi folks, Doors will open at 3:45pm today and we will finish at 6pm. There are still passes left if you'd like to join and/or invite anyone to come along. Non dancers like kids/family don't need to pay but still need to get a (free) ticket. At the moment there are four kids registered to attend. Come and enjoy the aircon. There are more followers than leaders which just means more time to rest and have a chat between dances for the ladies. I haven't controlled the ratio of ...ticket sales, to try to keep numbers as even as possible, as I normally would simply because it's Christmas Day and I don't want anyone to be left out (up to our square metre allowance). 18.01.2022 So many of you thanked me for running the Friday Night Classes last night and the previous night but I want to thank YOU for attending and supporting the event. The vibe has been so amazing. I'm delighted to be able to tell you that Csaba Szirmai from Gold Coast Salsa (and previously of Dancing With The Stars fame) will be our guest teacher this coming Friday night. Csaba is a fantastic and hilarious instructor. He will be teaching with Kristi Hall who herself is a world cha...mpion and one of the most knowledgeable instructors I have ever had the privilege of working with. I also believe past guest instructors Woo, Illary, Pablo and Claire are all intending to return just to participate and enjoy the night with us. I'm pretty good at marketing but I simply don't know everyone in the dancing scene who might like to come and enjoy a Friday night with us so I am always incredibly grateful for any and all help spreading the word. Passes for this coming Friday night are now available. 17.01.2022 Classes and practice last night went so well. We had a full house with so many people from other schools joining us. Woo and Illary were our guest instructors plus Jean-Luc joined us to DJ the last hour and Mark Knappe surprised me with a visit to shoot what I'm confident will be excellent photos. Our next guest instructor, Pablo, also participated fully in the whole night. We followed our industry CovidSafe plan and everyone had a blast. There hasn't been any recent communit...y transmission so we haven't been requiring facemasks since last Sunday. I hope you will join us this coming Friday for another instalment, with an extended format, featuring guest instructor Pablo Aguirre de Souza assisted by our own Claire Kellner-Read. Passes will go on sale later today. Remember that last night completely sold out so it's a good idea to grab your pass early if possible. See you tomorrow for Salsa :D

This week we are joined by world Bachata champion Kristi Hall and her teaching partner, from Gold Coast Salsa, Issa Shnoudi. We will be running a total of four fun classes in Bachata and Salsa. In one room we will look after those who are beginning or not yet experienced and in the other room we will look after those with some experience.... 06.01.2022 Ladies, if you've been enjoying the videos I've been posting of Madalyn's Commercial Latin class you might like to try volume 4 of her kinda-famous Something Sensual course. The dancing is a similar style to her weekly Commercial Latin class but you get to learn a longer choreography, really refine it over the course of many weeks, dress up and then perform it to camera (no in-person performance opportunities guaranteed this year). There's no pressure to enrol in the full course. At the moment we just want to invite you to give it a go :)

Public Health Alert Community members on Brisbanes southside are asked to remain alert but not alarmed as Queensland records three new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).... The first case is a 19-year-old woman who tested positive after travelling interstate last week. She is an employee at Parklands Christian College on Brisbanes southside. Queensland Health is working closely with the school which has temporarily closed until further notice. The second case is a 19-year-old female travel companion. Both cases travelled interstate together last week. It is believed they contracted the virus in Melbourne, Victoria. The third reported case is a known close contact, a 22-year-old woman, who tested positive later today. This individual is an employee of YMCA Chatswood Hills Outside School Hours Care. Queensland Health is working closely with the school and the care centre, both of which have temporarily closed until further notice.
