20.01.2022 DIFFERENT Conceived & Directed by Rachel Kennedy Choreography by @Rachel Kennedy and the performer Music composed and performed by Tracy Chen... Performer: Courteney Cox Sometimes you feel like you’re different to everyone else, sometimes you follow your dreams and sometimes you get stuck. Life is a struggle sometimes and sometimes you just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
20.01.2022 DIFFERENT by Rachel Kennedy & Tracy Chen RACHEL KENNEDY Rachel Kennedy is the owner and founding director of Stomping Ground Studios, a dance & movement centre in Stepney which is the main sponsor of Dances for a Small Stage.... Rachel began her dance training in Adelaide at the age of 8, she studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and from there went on to dance in the UK, USA and Canada. Her choreography is rooted in the dance theatre genre and aims to connect with the audience at an emotional level. TRACY CHEN Tracy Chen is a composer and performer based in Adelaide, South Australia. Combining simple pop-influenced progressions, soft vocals and found sounds at her desk, Tracy’s focus is on emotion, making space, and the warmth of low-quality recording. Rather than looking at ways to add, Tracy attempts to highlight existing details and pace her music gradually and in line with current feeling. Tracy has gradually gained attention from press (Sound Doctrine, i-D, Noisey) and local/international artists alike with only a few tracks online. Most recently, she was one of 10 artists selected to collaborate with Imogen Heap as part of a Brighter Sound residency in Manchester, UK."
19.01.2022 ¿Por qué? Choreographed & performed by Emily Mayes Music composed & performed by Anthony Zatorski... Emily and Anthony have collaborated to create a dramatic piece that explores themes of confusion, delusion, obsessive love and eventual healing. The themes are a response to a personal journey right in the heart of Latin America, Argentina, where hearts are opened and closed in the same breath. Drawing together contrasting styles of vocalization and flamenco dance, ¿Por qué? is emotionally honest and vulnerably human. The question is. ¿Por qué? no me amas más?

14.01.2022 KHASM by Bridgett Cains & Daisy-Chain-Massacre BRIDGETT CAINS Bridgett took her first ballet lesson thirty years ago, and has been obsessed with dance ever since.... She trained full-time in contemporary dance at AC Arts in Adelaide, and commercial dance at Dance Factory in Melbourne, before having her heart stolen by circus arts and world dance in her early twenties. Her choreography fuses an eclectic mix of disciplines, including belly dance, contemporary dance, and contortion, and she continues to study, teach, and perform across Australia, Europe, and the US. DAISY-CHAIN-MASSACRE When the Musical universe implodes and a much needed musical black hole is created, defying all known styles and genre's to create the "Antigenre"... Introducing, from very diverse musical backgrounds, a collaboration between Johann Dreyer (We Play Machines, AfrikanAmerikan, LoCoJo), Chris Lambert (Clowns of Decadence, Capital F, Medicine Troupe, Rhythm Caravan), and James Chang (Enemymine). Daisy-Chain-Massacre is a culmination of various music styles and influences. Industrial, metal, dub, ambient, rock, fusion, hip-hop...setting a next level sonic experience.

11.01.2022 HA'ADAM Choreographed & performed by Ruby Dolman Music composed & performed by Leah Blankendaal... Let’s not lose our connection to the world, let’s not lose our humanity. Through common tasks and actions, through every day ritual and shared experience, we are more than the sum of our differences. Sound sources from the physical world hold space in the other: connecting the tangible with the immaterial. Base needs for clean water and air are drivers through which we can recognize a deeper connection with each other.
11.01.2022 KHASM Choreographed by Bridgett Cains Music composed & performed by the Daisy-Chain-Massacre Performers: Bridgett Cains, Bridgette Anderson, Kelly Nicholas, Maryann Boettcher... Exploring the dynamics between the fluid art of belly dance and the explosive, industrial energy of the Daisy-Chain-Massacre, this work dances along an off beat path, channeling the perfect balance of these juxtaposed energies. Dance and music merge into a beautiful and almost antagonistic experience that pushes your expectations into the unknown. Anthony is a specialist performer of New Music and collaborates with composers and artists from other disciplines to create new works. EMILY MAYES is a dancer with over 20 years experience on the stage, originally training as a ballet dancer. Her love of flamenco music and dance began while spending time in Spain in 2008. 02.01.2022 ORANGE by Lisa Lonero Allen & Jesse Budel Conceived by Lisa Lonero Choreographed by Lisa Lonero & the dancers Music composed & performed by Jesse Budel... Performers: Ruby Dolman & Courtney Cox Like the choreography, the music for Orange successively explores each perceptive sense through sound. Relishing in the effervescent citrus flavours and scents, taste and smell give way to the experience of hearing conjured through building rhythms out of the natural rebound of oranges. A quirky take on the vibrant sight and rich colour of the fruit follows, moving through to the porous and strewn textures of touch, before a final climax, which integrates the full sensory experience together.
