21.01.2022 To all of our wonderful DWM families and friends, I would firstly like to apologise for my lack of communication over the last week. All return to plays and timetables were finalised but all parties were just waiting for further government advice before releasing them, as things were changing daily in Melbourne. I know how excited all of us were to be back to face to face dancing but unfortunately with the recent announcement by our premier, we all just have to wait a litt...le longer. I know myself and all of our wonderful DWM teachers are heartbroken by this announcement but the heath and safety of our loved ones is most important. Although not everyone's first option, it is the continuation of dancing online that not only has benefited our students improvement substantially but too will enable our DWM families to stay connected and our studio doors to reopen. As most of you are aware this studio is my full time job and I see you all as family so I am beyond thankful for your continued support during this difficult time. It is your support that enables our passion for dance to be passed onto all of our students and I hope that this will continue. This being said, we will be once again offering online classes for our 6 week lock down. We have become professionals at this online thing and are so lucky to have a platform to stay connected and dancing. I will be redoing timetables and creating new and exciting programs for our online students. From pj parties and discos to princess and super hero parties and online guest teachers, we are constantly adapting and improving our delivery. 18.01.2022 FREE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES @ DWM At DWM we put a strong emphasis on friendship and family. This current lockdown has not been easy news for any of us and as a result we want to organise a few online social activities for our students. ... All are welcome and do not need to be enrolled in our online classes to participate. Our main aim is to give all of our past and current students the opportunity to see their friends and simply be able to socialise and have some fun. Our social activities include: Show and Tell (3-8 years) -Tuesday August 18th 11.30am We have given some time for our students to prepare their home creations, favourite pet animal, favourite toy etc to share with their friends. A good excuse for us to catch up and chat. Depending on numbers, group will be split into ages. DWM TRIVIA (9-teen) - Friday August 21st 5.30pm Groups will be split into ages. Nothing better than some Friday night trivia. Great way for our older students to socialise with some fun trivia and giveaways. ADULT WINE AND CHAT (teen-adult) - Thursday August 20th 6.15pm A great way for our older teen and adult students to connect. Wine is supplied at home, so not encouraging alcohol for any students under 18 years. Our adult social ballroom class usually connects every few weeks, this time I'm extending the invite to any other adults who feel they would like some adult interaction and discussion during this tough time. 18.01.2022 A huge THANKYOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS from us to you!! After a whirlwind of a year, we have made it through and couldn't be more thankful for the ongoing support from all of our DWM family and friends. After what was close to 10 months online we were so thankful to have our last 3 weeks in the studio. The smiles from ear to ear from all of the students as they were reunited with their dance friends and teachers was what made it all worth while. ... A huge thank you to all of our staff, students and families for their support during this time. At DWM we really are one big dance family and I couldn't be more grateful. 18.01.2022 WEEK 1 COLOURING COMPETITION WINNERS A huge thank you to all of our colouring in entries! We were so impressed and overwhelmed with all of our wonderful students creations, it was super tough for our judge to decide. ... Miss Monique asked someone unrelated to DWM to adjudicate our first round of competition. It was a very tough decision but congratulations to our winners below. All entries will receive a prize with our top 3 placings in each division receiving some DWM giveaways when we return back to the studio. From assistant stage assistant to prop maker for concerts, she always goes above and beyond for our students and we are always so grateful. Growing up and training in Miss Monique"s mums studio in Wagga, we are so lucky to have Miss Milicia in our Melbourne DWM family. ... Thank you Miss Milicia for all that you do Name Milica (Ma-lit-za) Rancic Dance/ performing experience I began taking Classical Ballet in 1999. Before long I was taking class and competing in every style available to me; from jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom, Latin etc. I began assistant teaching my first jazz/ballet classes as a teenager. Later I attended the Australian International Performing Arts Highschool. For the past two years I have taught classical ballet at DWM studies. Favourite food Korean BBQ Favourite colour Mist Blue How you kept busy through isolation Isolation has been a very busy time for me because I am the assistant operations manager of a medical centre; and there were many obstacles to overcome during this time. What you liked best about teaching online I loved how much extra effort everyone from students, parents and teachers put into the online classes to make them work. Its a beautiful thing to see people pull together in tough times. Why you can't wait to get back into the studio I cant wait to be back in a nice, large, open space that we can all run, jump, dance and be free with no obstacles. Quirky fun fact I see in 2D! One of my eyes doesnt work as it should, so I dont have binocular vision. Not sure how I dont bump into everyone on the dance floor

11.01.2022 With all of the changes in restrictions, we are finally back dancing ONLINE today for Term 3 (well atleast the first few weeks) I cannot begin to thank all of our wonderful families who have continued their support again online, without you DWM wouldn't exist.....so from the bottom of our heart thank you it's because of you, myself and all of our wonderful staff can continue working and sharing their love and passion for dance. To see all my beautiful students again and do script work with our acting class Quirky fun Fact - Miss Cherie has been to America, NYC and LA Miss Cherie"s training and performing experience Cherie Spiteri was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and has 20 years of dancing and acting experience. She has studied both dance and acting at Danceworld 301 and has completed fulltime dance training at Jason Colemans Ministry of Dance and Brent Street. Cherie has just graduated from Victoria University, studying a Bachelor of Education P-12 and is now a qualified Teacher for the Department of Education Victoria. Cherie has an extensive performance background and has worked within the entertainment industry as an extra on the Australian children's television series Elephant Princess and was a promotional dancer for the well known Australian Soap Opera Neighbours. Cherie has also been a featured and ensemble dancer in a number of corporate and live performances including; The Learning and Leading Conference, Womens Rights Conference, The Variety Charity Ball, Paul Maleks Collaboration-Project Y (Gallery), Dance Cancer Initiative, Melbourne Latin Dance Festival and the International Natural Bodybuilding Association Championships. Cherie is very passionate about the Performing Arts and Education; she continues to develop her knowledge in both Dance and Drama and undertakes professional learning in order to improve her teaching practice. However many traditional approaches can result in decreased mobility, and even injury. The science of flexibility is new, exciting, and constantly evolving. Using evidenced-based approaches means that you can expect safe and reliable results. This workshop will help you understand the physiological and psychological systems that support (or interfere with) your flexibility goals. You will leave empowered to work with your nervous system, muscles and connective tissue in a simple program to safely improve your flexibility. Highly recommend for dancers wanting to improve their flexibility.
