24.01.2022 School Captains laying the school wreaths on ANZAC Day
22.01.2022 The school celebrated a significant occasion on Wednesday 7th August. This celebration acknowledged three events, the 10 Year anniversary of the new school, alo...ng with the official opening of The LRC and the Senior Visual Arts wing and also an announcement regarding Government funding for Stage 5 of our redevelopment. The Deputy Premier and Minister for Education James Merlino and Gabrielle Williams Minister for Women and the local member for Dandenong were special guests along with Martin Culkin our previous school principal. In his speech, which included the announcement of funding to complete our building program, Minister Merlino commended the school on its extraordinary regeneration and even described Dandenong High School as one of his favourites. The school choir, with a solo performance by Emeline, a very moving performance. It was a wonderful occasion where students, teachers and politicians together, recognised our amazing school. See more

10.01.2022 The start of the Centenary Celebrations, reported in the Dandenong Journal.
06.01.2022 At the ANZAC ceremony on April 27th, Dandenong High School was honoured to welcome guest speaker LTCOL Graeme Smith RFD who spoke about the school's first Princ...ipal, Percy Langford. The following is from that speech: "...I have been given the honour of speaking to you about Percy Charles William Langford, the man who founded this school and to provide an insight into the Regiment that he joined and some of the events that occurred while he served in it. World War 1 broke out in Europe in August 1914. Australia declared that it was committed and joined the war on the 14 August 1914.... ...The 4th Light Horse Regiment was raised in August 1914. The men who joined were young and many came from rural and regional areas. Many had horse riding skills which were the essential elements required to be part of the Regiment. Percy Charles William Langford was an early enlistment and signed up on 18 August 1914. His Regimental number was 136. This was the number that distinguished him from any other soldier. His age on enlistment was 30 and his vocation was teacher. He was posted to A Squadron 4th Light Horse Regiment. After enlistment, Percy began training at the Broadmeadows depot which was set up to also equip and train many other soldiers from 15 August 1914. Training was rigorous and required that the soldiers became very skilled in horse riding. Percy was a competent horseman due to his previous service in the 29th (Port Phillip) Australian Light Horse a militia unit . On the 18th October 1914, the Regiment embarked on the HMAS Wiltshire from Port Melbourne and headed for Albany in Western Australia to join with other ships to sail as a convoy to Europe... ... LCpl Percy Langford continued to fight on Gallipoli however on the 8th October 1915 he suffered severe pain as his leg was accidently badly scalded. He maintained his diary for a further month until he was evacuated as his injury grew worse. He was also stricken with paratyphoid fever during this time.I am not able to say where he was evacuated to, but he survived. LCpl Langford survived the war and returned home in 1919. You will be aware, through your school history writings, how Percy applied his efforts to establish this school and his legacy in all that he has done is firmly now entrenched in the DNA of the community. The 4th Light Horse Regiment is still part of the Australian Army today as the 4th 19th Prince of Wales' Light Horse Regiment. Its history is now linked with all of the other Victorian Light Horse Regiments. I have had the privilege to be its Commanding Officer for 3 years. The Regiments colour patch is still white over red, the colours that were allocated at the very outset of the Regiments formation in 1914.The light blue over dark blue, which is now part of the School colours is to remind us that the Light Horse was a big part of Percy’s life and should always be regarded as colours with a meaningful history...."
