25.01.2022 A big thankyou to all our volunteers, helpers, local members, and anyone who donated, letter-boxed, contributed ideas, placarded, and of course, voted.

23.01.2022 A beautiful day in Upwey with new buds emerging. It reminds me of all the beauty in the world. It is not all pandemic and bad water.

21.01.2022 Australia has one of the worst extinction rates in the world. It is a national disgrace. Nearly 1 in 3 of Australias unique mammals are at risk of extinction,... and Australias threatened birds declined 59% over the past 30 years. But right now, the Morrison Government is trying to push through new laws that will make it easier for mining companies and big developers to get approval for projects that will damage our environment and put our threatened species even more at risk. We need strong laws that preserve nature and save our native animals. Join the fight to save our unique wildlife and wild places: greens.org.au/campaigns/save-our-environment If we dont act now, our threatened species will be lost forever.

19.01.2022 Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. "All Australians should celebrate and be proud of the culture, survival and achievements of the oldest living c...ulture on Earth, and NAIDOC Week is our opportunity to do that. But in order to do this we must recognise and come to terms with the impact that invasion, and the creation of the Australian nation has had on First Nations peoples." You can read more from Lidia Thorpe's New Daily piece here: https://thenewdaily.com.au//11/08/lidia-thorpe-naidoc-week/

15.01.2022 Q: How much does it cost to find out if a new coal fired power station is worth it? Liberals: about $3.3 million Greens and Labor: $0... This is why we need to declare a climate emergency, so the Liberals stop pissing away public money to find out what we already know the world is heating up, and building any new type of coal, oil or gas energy is adding fuel to the fire

15.01.2022 "The Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it ...created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - always was, and always will be Aboriginal land." Artwork: "Shape of Land" by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander, and 2020 National NAIDOC poster winner.

12.01.2022 Nurses, teachers, mental health workers, and disability and aged carers have been working hard to look after Victorians, providing us with essential support. Bu...t far too often care workers, who are mostly women, are poorly paid and struggling with insecure work. Vital services are also often underfunded and stretched thin, making it hard for people to get the best possible care when they need it. A caring society, where everyone can access the help they need, starts with a strong caring economy. Thats why were launching our Green New Deal Victoria Cares jobs initiative. Victoria Cares would help fund more jobs and services for: Community mental health Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations Disability care Early childhood learning Housing and homelessness support By investing in Victorias caring professions, we can create much-needed jobs, build stronger, healthier communities, and help ensure that no one is left behind as Victoria begins its road to economic recovery. You can help call for Victoria to invest in the caring economy by signing up to our campaign today: http://greens.org.au/victoriacares

12.01.2022 Scott Morrison shouldnt ask R U OK? if hes not prepared to hear the answer. Every day my team and I get calls, emails and messages from people around the co...untry struggling. So many are doing it tough. People need decent rates of JobKeeper and JobSeeker. Mental health support. A dignified aged care system. An NDIS that works. Support to come home from OS, or stay in Australia while we ride this pandemic out. Access to secure housing. Real climate action so were less terrified about our future. The list goes on. What we dont need is videos with false sympathy from the PM. We need action. Maybe then well be okay.

11.01.2022 On behalf of the Greens campaign we would like to congratulate Cathrine Burnett-Wake for winning the vote for Streeton Ward. It has been an extremely closely fo...ught contest, and the community has shown strong support for a candidate that takes a strong stance on climate change, protecting our environment and community consultation. It is also good to see strong support for a more gender diverse council. We hope that the new councillors will listen to the thousands of voters in Streeton who voted for candidates who promised to represent them on these issues. Thankyou to all our supporters for your help. See more

03.01.2022 BREAKING: The uni fee hikes bill will go to a Senate inquiry! The Morrison govt has backed down after the Greens motion and crossbench pressure. Thanks to eve...ryone who called or emailed the crossbench this week. An inquiry will help take this rotten bill apart so we can block it once and for all in October.

02.01.2022 Shana Tova UMetukah! Wishing all Jewish Australians a sweet and happy new year. Viktor Frankl said, When are are no longer able to change a situation, we are... challenged to change ourselves. This past year has certainly been one of great challenge, and I know many people will be celebrating the New Year very differently tonight, especially those here in Victoria. But the history of the Jewish people is one of finding strength and resilience, even in the darkest of times. May tonight be a joyous celebration - even if socially distanced - full of hope for the year to come and reflection of the year that has passed.

01.01.2022 BREAKING: Both big parties just voted against Greens amendments to electoral laws to stop lobster lunch pay-for-access meetings, to cap all donations to $1,000/... year, and to stop dirty donations from fossil fuels, gambling, tobacco, big pharma, banks, defence, alcohol and property developers. But when Lib/Lab have taken over 100 million in big corporate donations since 2012, its no wonder they want the dirty dollars for their re-election campaigns to keep flowing. Democracy should NOT be for sale. Thanks to three of the crossbenchers for their support.
