25.01.2022 Safety and well-being for all with management using separate spaces. When an adult can fully supervise both dog and child all can be in the same space.

25.01.2022 Chippie the Kelpie had no focus and was all over the place running left to right with his leash walking. Chippie and his Dad are doing heaps better. Loose leash walking requires ALOT of practice before it looks easy. These two are well on their way to more happy and relaxed walks which was what they were aiming for. Its great to see even though Chippie still breaks ahead a bit he remembers to return next to Dad and then he is rewarded for making the right choice. Developing a thinking dog capable of making choices helps in the long run. #forcefreetraining #bekindalways #dontbeajerktoyourdog

25.01.2022 Love this. Well done to all!

25.01.2022 Teaching your dog what you do want is far easier than the dog just guessing.

24.01.2022 Tinkerbelle put a spell on her special client today and enjoyed a lovely walk together at a local park. So much laughter and enthusiasm in sharing childhood memories when they had dogs as a child. Some of our clients live in lovely group homes with fantastic support provided, but the joy of a dog living full time in a group home is not feasible. Thats why our one on one visits provide a special connection for the individual that has special memories or connection to dogs. #visitationtherapydogs #tinkerbelle #ndis #selforplanmanaged Follow our therapy dog visits on Ladybelle & Friends - therapy dogs

24.01.2022 You may wonder why dog trainers wear long pants.

24.01.2022 Abby the Labby after 7 years of being untrained had some change of circumstances at home which meant we had to help her be trained and also help the new family members feel safe and understand how to work with Abby. This one was pretty intensive as Abby's family were both in their mid 70's. So we pushed our sleeves up and helped with a lot of hands on training for the month. Abby now sits at the door and waits until she's asked to come inside. No more bowling the family over ...and nasty bruises through the doorways. Abby can now be safely walked locally around with her Dad and keeps pace with a little shuffle walk. Everyone is so much happier and safer as they all have respect and understanding for each other and how to work with Abby. (Abby has also lost a bit of weight and is on track to continue to reach a much healthier weight. Dads love feeding their dogs don't they. ) What a rewarding outcome it has been. Feeling pretty chuffed and happy for team Abby. See more

24.01.2022 Come by and support Nepean Therapy Dogs this Sunday.

24.01.2022 We got creative with Chippie the Kelpie. He loved chasing the kids and trying to herd them by nipping their legs. So we setup a large step ladder to teach him a place to watch and wait. We then introduced the flirt pole and taught Chippie impulse control along with playing with the kids safely.

24.01.2022 Hazel lives with a young family where we helped reduce jumping and teaching the kids how to safely interact with their bouncy puppy. Separation distress has much improved for dear little Hazel that was having a tough time adjusting with the family going back to work. Hazel is on her way to being a much more confident and relaxed dog.

22.01.2022 This young lady is enjoying learning all about care and training gorgeous pup Molly the Cavalier x Poodle. #privatepuppytraining #dandydogtraining.au

22.01.2022 Perspective: Would you leave a child unattended near your pool? Dogs require the same level of safety.

21.01.2022 It’s all about perspective. Wishing you all a wonderful New Year there are still so many wonderful opportunities and things for us all to enjoy. Thank you for your wonderful support in 2020, it’s been a pleasure and so rewarding helping so many people. I’m so excited for 2021! ... Best Wishes and Happy New Year! #newyear #dandydogtraining_oz #thankful

20.01.2022 I totally love this and can relate! This is what it’s all about.

20.01.2022 Finishing an outing or social visit when the dogs are still keen for more is the ideal to time to finish. Finish on a positive note.

20.01.2022 For our small dog friends.

20.01.2022 The realities of being a good advocate for your dog no matter if it is a pup, rehomed or a rescue. Judy does a good job explaining it in real terms that we can all understand.

19.01.2022 Thor just completed his 4 week baby puppy sessions. With his Mum and Dad being new guardians we had lots to cover with sleeping, toilet training, mouthing along with basic foundations of learning his amazing name, follow me, sit, drop and go to his mat. This little champion is already using his teeny doggy door and takes himself outside to toilet in controlled situations. What a Dandy Dog and fantastic family invested in his well being and training.

19.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all those doggy Dads out there.

17.01.2022 Some great advice for young families.

17.01.2022 Happy Spring! Please be mindful and careful that snakes are already emerging as the weather warms up. Nepean River Walk is known for having snakes about. They warm themselves in the sun at the base of trees amongst other fun locations. I was once surprised to see a snake that looked like tree roots. Gave me a bit of a surprise!

16.01.2022 Blaze the Golden Retriever just completed his baby puppy 4 week program. His family learnt all the basics as first time guardians of their pup. Theyve already booked in to start senior puppy private lessons in a couple of weeks!

16.01.2022 The basics of ‘come’ step 1.

15.01.2022 Lulu the Cavalier is one lucky lass living with a wonderful family invested in her future. Lulu and her family are learning the foundations of training to develop a confident, focused capable dog. #teentraining

15.01.2022 You may remember young Nina that we helped with training from puppyhood last year. Were so excited to share that Mandy and Nina have been working hard with their consistent training and have just passed their therapy dog suitability assessment. Mandy first approached us very clear on her goals and Im so chuffed we were able to help them become a reality. Ill keep sharing their progress. You can also follow Nepean Therapy Dogs to learn more.

14.01.2022 I need your help! What colour polo shirt do you think could work for Dandy Dog Training as their uniform?

13.01.2022 Kim with dear Penny the Boxer have been working on loose leash walking and her reactivity to other dogs on leash. Calming inside the home and relaxing in her chill zone. Progress is going well, weve achieved so much together and continuing to new responses when she sees dogs.

09.01.2022 With lots of new dog owners becoming part of the Dandy Dog family, it seemed like a good opportunity to share the free online course on learning how to read dog body language. If you so choose to learn to read your dogs body language youre life will change. Will you choose the red pill! https://dogknowledge.thinkific.com/cours/dog-body-language #dogbodylanguage #dandydogtraining_oz

09.01.2022 Dogs are amazing.

09.01.2022 Were closed on Mondays. Reason being Im working the rest of the week for all of my wonderful clients. You might wonder what I get up to on my day off. Ive been learning to kayak with Ladybelle my number one doggo. Theres other boring stuff, but who wants to hear about all the adult responsibilities. This is far interesting. Its taken some time to ensure my dog and my friends dog were comfortable and confident wearing their life jacket and joining the paddle. Our big girl Lassie is still desensitising from wearing the jacket and following my cues. If youre interested chat to me about it. Its a great conversation to be had. #nepeanriver #thingstodowithmydogs Thanks to Horizon Line Canoes for their rentals and great equipment in store

08.01.2022 Notice to our caring community - We understand that there may be many lost pets today. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide the community service of taking ...in stray pets at this time. Our hospital is currently at capacity and we have been advised by Penrith City Council Animal Services that they are unable to collect stray pets from our clinic at this time. This means we will not be able to arrange transfer of animals that are not microchipped or pets whose microchip details have not been updated. We are always happy to scan a stray pet in an attempt to reunite family members. We will continue to provide care to injured strays presented to the clinic to alleviate pain and discomfort. ALL STRAY PETS, where owners cannot be contacted, are unable to be left at the clinic and will need to be taken directly to HAWKESBURY COMPANION ANIMAL SHELTER by the caring members of the public. Thank you for your understanding.

08.01.2022 Look for the good things and reward them with a treat, a pat, a toy or ‘good dog’ in a happy voice. You’ll be amazed at how things will change when you focus on the good behaviours they will continue to bloom.

04.01.2022 Happy New Year!

04.01.2022 You can be part of the solution.

03.01.2022 Frankie was a bit tired from trying out some of the enrichment items that I brought along for him to experience. Snuffle mats are great to put dry treats in for dogs to sniff and forage for the food. Seems Frankie likes it for a snooze. #canineenrichment

02.01.2022 What phase is your dog?

02.01.2022 There’s our beautiful gal Lassie and my husband supporting Nepean Therapy Dogs at Panthers Penrith in the foyer. Panthers generously arranges the Tree of Hope annually for members to vote for your charities’ Christmas Tree. If you are visiting Panthers please have a look at the foyer entry and vote for their tree, which is number 9. If you’d like to meet some of the therapy dogs, they will be visiting Wed-Fri 6 to 8pm. A grand prize of $4k goes a long way for this charity to continue bringing joy and connection to those in need. We can all use that these days can’t we. Thanks for the read. Paula

02.01.2022 Charlie is pretty proud of Bear for passing his Baby Puppy sessions. Bear lives on a big property so we took extra time with recall and making sure he is safe with the vehicle movement on the property with some environmental management. Bear has already been fishing on his Dads boat and loves it!

02.01.2022 Bambi missed out on puppy school at the time COVID first started and all of the classes shut down. Weve pulled together some training to teach her guardian how to help Bambi feel safe and more confident outdoors. Her tolerance and confidence in seeing new people is increasing as we continue working together.
