19.01.2022 The HIA recently held the 2015 Western Australian Housing Awards in Perth. I was unable to attend, missing a great afternoon. Dane Design Australia won the Residential Building Designer of the Year for a project in Quindalup. I wish to congratulate the team at Tallwood Construction who once again exceeded expectations with construction works. I also send this public thank you to the HIA, my team and the owners. Of course without the owners trust and commitment we have nothing ! Thank you all very much.

11.01.2022 Stumbled across these old photos, a project I worked on in Shanghai in 2003. No 3 On The Bund, a refurbishment project inclusive Chinese & French restaurant, Jazz Bar, Shanghai Fine Art gallery, Evian Spa and a few high end retail outlets. Night lights are my walk home after work, my interpreter and one of the main contractors with me. A bunch of exotic materials, rare blue marble, gold and copper leaf ceilings and walls, onyx cladding to stairs and much more. I loved the cupola and roof deck off the Jazz Bar, spent most evenings on this level so I could take in the sky line as the nigh started. Awesome city, awesome buildings !

10.01.2022 Back on site at the studio project after the Christmas break. Windows are now framing the views and the steel wall cladding has commenced install. Won’t be long and the scaffold will drop and we will be able to see the project. New photos in a few weeks.

05.01.2022 Update photos from a current project. Timber eaves detail taking shape, timber siding complete and other walls prepared for stone installation.

05.01.2022 Last weekend the HIA held its annual South West Housing Awards. Tallwood Construction received the Home of the Year award and my office the Residential Designer of the Year award for this project. Hats off to the design, construction and supply teams, it was a complex and highly detailed build. I think there is a little coverage in this weekend’s paper and I’ll be uploading images to the dda web site very soon

04.01.2022 Progress on our new project, timber cladding well advanced, stone work and renders to follow. There will be striking contrast of materials on this project.

03.01.2022 As far as we get on this project this year.

03.01.2022 The old photos from my last post made me look at a bunch of archived project photos. A few snaps from the Radisson towers I was involved with in Jakarta in 1993. Image 1 - piers finished on the third tower. Image 2 & 3 exposing piers in preparation of the raft slab. All by hand, hard to see how many guys in the pit with sledge hammers..brutal. Image 4 & 5 views from the top of my nearly completed tower down to the concourse level and adjoining slums. Image 6 & 7 tradesman hard at it. It looked like a top hotel and apartments in the end, not many people get to see this messy stage.. tough job !

03.01.2022 A few photos of a recently completed project. Great light on dusk accentuating the form and materials of the home. I haven’t designed a home with a gable roof for some time, very pleased with the results of this one. Must congratulate the Tallwood team (again) for seriously good construction !
