25.01.2022 Ha ha, I hope Dan isnt getting ideas... Waiting for his radiation this morning Dan has watched Baxter Hutchinson on the Today Show. Baxter has survived 2 malignant brain tumours and is doing this amazing fundraiser...

24.01.2022 Radiation treatment No.35 - Last one!

24.01.2022 This beautiful card and offer from a local photographer who also has children at our school. So incredibly kind and generous.

23.01.2022 Please pray for good results tomorrow (11th August) from Dan's MRI scan on Friday. We are praying for a reduction in the tumour and also in the swelling of the brain. We pray for good results so that Dan can either have a small break from chemo or a reduced continued chemo treatment plan. We pray that the last 6 months of chemo treatment has worked well. Thank you all so much. Tania

23.01.2022 Tania wrote: I am going to ask for a few quick prayers for myself this morning. I have been having increasing issues with my eyes, usually at night but now into the mornings. I saw my neurologist on Tuesday and although we both feel strongly that it is likely that I now have Ocular Migraines along with my Vestibular Migraines. Just to rule anything else out we are doing a full MRI with contrast at 10.20am this morning. I am quite confident that this will all work out fine ho...wever it is a stress for Dan as the MRI that I am undergoing is exactly what he has been doing every couple of weeks. Nobody wants to have another brain tumour in this house. We have no control of the outcome, it is what it is (most likely and preferably) another type of Migraine that will need to be managed. My prayer request is for No Lesions of any kind to be found and for the MRI to be Clear and Normal. This would indicate that it is Ocular Migraine. <3 Tania See more

22.01.2022 Thank you all for your prayers, the scan is Stable. No improvement and no increase...well marginal increase in the swelling. So we talk to the oncologist tomorrow with the expectation of another 6 months of chemo.

21.01.2022 Hey Everyone, I'd personally like to thank each of you for your gracious comments. I could thank many more people tonight who have led us to towards this achievement but my vision is awful, I still see double on the screen. All of your comments mean a lot to me and I smile on the inside and outside while reading them. There is however 2 people I need to thank though. This journey is far from over and it just wouldn’t be right without thanking my Lord and Saviour Jesus. I ...know its cliché to thank him when the times are good and harder when the news isn’t what you were looking for. I wouldn’t have made it this far without having him looking after me like he does. There will be some good and bad to come in the future but that’s where a faith in him will kick in when you need it most. Thank you all for your prayers, they are felt every day. The other thanks goes out to my best friend this side of heaven, Tania. My world just wouldn’t be the same without her. She not only motivates me but teaches me how important love is. Walking every step with me in 34c heat, holding my hand to keep me from tipping over. Thank you beautiful!! I love you heaps. See more

21.01.2022 Hello friends and family, Well yesterday went well with a quick 6 hour turn around trip to Brisbane to see Dans chemotherapy oncologist and collect next weeks chemo. Yep Round 2 Cycle 2 begins on Monday. The kids and I were not able to accompany Daniel into the hospital yesterday and Daniel said that the hygiene measures being carried out during his 2 hours there was excellent.... Other good news: His blood tests results were considered good, certainly good enough to do the next round of chemo. Some other GBM4 patients are not as lucky with oncologists not allowing treatment during the Covid19 situation. We have a 2 week reprieve until the next trip to Brisbane for another MRI regarding the Hydrocephalus (swelling) in Daniels brain. The neurosurgeon called on Tuesday to say that he wasnt ruling out the Shunt surgery as yet. At the moment we are happy to be managed this way. Daniel has now lost 10kgs/22pounds. While he is eating (and not vomiting atm ) we are hoping to get a bit of weight back on him. Ava and I are baking cookies like crazy. The pressure headaches have reduced. This looks directly due to the increase in steroids. Life is so much easier when you dont have a massive headache 24hrs a day. The kids have been home from school and home-schooled for almost 2 weeks now and other than making the days fly past, it has actually been wonderful for all of us. We are so thankful for all of your ongoing thoughts and prayers in the midst of everything else that is going on around the world. When we first had the diagnosis in October it felt like we entered into another world, nothing seemed normal...except the love and support of you all. Its now unsettling to see everyone else enter a similar situation but dont try and do it alone, the love and support of friends and family makes a world of difference.

21.01.2022 The MRI showed that Dans tumor is shrinking!! Lots of happy tears here.

21.01.2022 Great news! No surgery! Coming home.

20.01.2022 Dante T what a wonderful surprise in our mail box last week. You are such a kind, clever and generous friend. We are so blessed to have past clients like you, now as a long term friend. Salamat!

20.01.2022 We want to share our little Christmas miracle with you. Dan's last MRI scan on Friday is showing marginal reduction in his brain tumour! Last year we didn't know if we would get to spend this Christmas together as a family but now we are seeing light and a future in 2021.Tania, Dan, Wyatt & Ava

19.01.2022 This lovely note came home with Ava yesterday from her very sweet friend Chelsea. "Mr Englund" loved it and thanks to Chelseas Mum & Dad for letting us share it.

19.01.2022 The oncologist was happy with Dans blood work. We have the go ahead for cycle 6 chemo to start on Monday. To our surprise he then requested another review appointment on 12/8/20 and printed off a script for chemo for another 6mths. We wont know how many more chemo treatments will be required and for how long until after the next scan on the 7/8/20. The + side that "he is stable" and "he is well enough" to continue treatment.

18.01.2022 We havent watched this and not sure that we will...we are living it... but to see these words can only make you smile. "Chris and I chose to allow ourselves to be filmed to help those suffering from GBM see that you can survive long term, though you will have consequences in making that decision. We wanted people diagnosed with GBM to have hope." Off to Brisbane today to hopefully our last chemo oncologist appointment for a while. https://www.facebook.com//photos/a.8887/10157516991058870/

17.01.2022 Thank you so much for all of your love, support and prayers. The last 24hrs have been pretty crazy but I knew the altruism of our friends and family was going to get us through it....and it did and with the best outcome! We are home again now, all exhausted but happy. Next trip to Brisbane is late next week for chemo but that is 9 whole days away.

16.01.2022 Well Cycle 1 Round 3 of chemo finished last Friday and felt like we had started all over again, without having actually stopped the chemo cycle. The chemo took a huge toll on Dan. His abdominal pain, nausea and fatigue where some of the worst I have seem him go through. This has also resulted in more weight loss. But a week later and we are starting to gain some ground back with him looking and feeling a bit better. Prayers that this improvement continues. Unfortunately t...his week I have seen the toll that the situation is taking on the kids. While they still manage to be their amazing strong, confident and mature selves they are also showing the signs of stress fatigue. Please pray that next weekend (Sunday) will be a joyful one for us as we celebrate Fathers Day in Australia and also Wyatts birthday. Tania See more

15.01.2022 Celebrating 8 years ago: <3 https://www.cqnews.com.au/news/survivor-succeeds/1540650/

15.01.2022 Taking a break from hospital food :D

14.01.2022 Oh the power of prayer and after today I am kicking myself that I waited so long to reach out. This is a bit of a squeamish yukky subject so : *WARNING* Today Daniel kept lunch down!! Normally once he starts vomiting it is violent and it is lengthy. Today as he lunged for the sink he was able to have the nausea pass without losing his lunch...literally...and I hope you wont lose yours now, with this terribly honest post .... Thank you, thank you, thank you all those who have chosen to pray for this ongoing and debilitating problem. Anyone who has ever been sick with a really bad headache would understand how much of a relief this was. I believe this was solely due to the prayers said for us as a result of yesterdays post. Thank you for your prayers See more

14.01.2022 Saw our Neurologist on Monday - He requested the tests this week and the team will be led by his findings in regards to Dan's black out on Saturday. Ophthalmologist on Tuesday. God bless Michael Statham and his family. While away on holidays Micheal had his staff take scans of Dan's eyes looking for signs of swelling ( brain swelling and pushing on the back of the eyeballs) and reported back to us (the same day) good news of no moderate or severe swelling noted. This gave... us such a boost mid week. MRI completed yesterday with high priority on the report so should be available for our GP visit on Monday morning. The lovely Emergency Department doc told us last Saturday that he really couldn't tell us what caused or is causing the black outs. However he did rule out a few possibilities that we hadn't even considered such as cardiac issues and sodium issues both caused by chemo. There is also some debate about if these are actually seizures or just events...If they are being caused by the brain tumour or the swelling or both or because Dan's blood pressure is so low, regularly getting to 80/60. So we pray for a quiet weekend as Dan has had to undergo all of this extra testing and time in hospital the week after doing his 8th round of chemo and he is exhausted. Now we wait, hope and pray for some good news on Monday or this week. See more

13.01.2022 Dan had his 3rd fall on the weekend. This is due to his blood pressure being so low and the tumour placing pressure on the cerebellum which is responsible for balance and movement. So I would like to put out a call for anyone who may be able to make or knows of someone who could make a timber walking stick for him to use. <3

12.01.2022 Happy Birthday to an amazing Husband and Father!

12.01.2022 We are going ok. Today marks a year since Dan's brain surgery. We have so much to be thankful for in that he survived the operation, he has survived 11 rounds of chemo, 37 treatments of radiation, seizures, weight loss, double vision, choking/gagging events and black outs. Last week Dan managed 4 laps of the backyard, the last MRI showed some reduction in the tumour and he has been able to complete chemo every 3 weeks. Every month is a milestone and we have been blessed with miracles.

11.01.2022 A wonderful memory from 8 years ago.

11.01.2022 Ava looked on my tablet a couple of days ago and brought to my attention that we have in fact passed our halfway mark on our Go Fund Me page. I feel as if I have been a little neglectful of the wonderful people who are quietly giving us money every day as it is sustaining us. We are So Very Thankful for all of the donations, prayers, texts, messages, love and support. Ava asked if she could write a message and I thought it was lovely so here it is: Oh wow! Thank you all ...so much! The halfway point of anything is a mentor to the end Ava E. What amazing support and phenomenal donors we have who donate to us out of the blue sometimes. (Some of the donors are complete strangers but they are donating, and we thank them dearly) Radiation & Chemotherapy draws nearer and nearer, our prayers are not only in family, but safe travels home to and from Brisbane. And prayers for rain. For Dans healing. For a happy ending. For a new year. Pray for hope. Believe you can and youre halfway there - Theodore Roosevelt Thanks, Ava! See more

11.01.2022 Chemo breakfast and the kids are very jealous.

11.01.2022 We are now officially past the halfway point of chemo and radiation so Dans almost "normal" blood results this week is a big deal. I am so proud of him and his attitude to getting through this and by the end of January he will be released from the hospital and able to do the next 6 months of chemo from home.

10.01.2022 Please pray for good results tomorrow (11th August) from Dans MRI scan on Friday. We are praying for a reduction in the tumour and also in the swelling of the brain. We pray for good results so that Dan can either have a small break from chemo or a reduced continued chemo treatment plan. We pray that the last 6 months of chemo treatment has worked well. Thank you all so much. Tania

10.01.2022 This is it, this is what we were hoping for: MRI shows DECREASE in tumour! This is it, this is what we were hoping for: MRI shows DECREASE in tumour!

09.01.2022 And just like that we are off for the monthly blood test today. The telehealth appointment is tomorrow with chemo oncologist and Cycle 4 chemo due to start on Monday. It feels like we just finished chemo with Dans stomach still not 100% after the last round and having lost another 3kgs. Focusing on the good news that we only have 1 more chemo cycle after this one and the positive MRI last week. :)

08.01.2022 We received this gorgeous hand made quilt from Daniels hometown Church this Christmas and already it has comforted usif you look closely you will see Daniels favourite rainbow trout swimming in the beautifully sewn blocks. Thank you for the hands that made it and for all the hands that pray for us each day.

08.01.2022 No more tears hearing this song..yesterday we were told that Dan will be allowed out of hospital to spend Christmas at home!

08.01.2022 Round 5 of 6 now done! We only have 1 more chemo round to go.Round 5 of 6 now done! We only have 1 more chemo round to go.

08.01.2022 Sorry about the long silence, at the moment I have 12mins until the washing machine is finished to do a quick catch up before heading to town to fill more scripts, grabbing some milk and stopping at the post office Where are we in all of this? If October was the diagnosis month, November was the surgery month, December and January was Chemo & Radiation month then February must be the rest month? Dan has been given all of February to rest before starting his 1 week of Che...mo per month for 6 months. Thankfully this coming round of chemo will only be for a week per month however it will be 4 times the dose that he has been receiving over the past 2 monthsI just pray that he is a bit stronger by then. This Saturday 15th February is our 23rd Wedding Anniversary. We are hoping that Dan will be well enough for a picnic in the park or maybe lunch out somewhere. He is unable to keep food down 3-4 days a week and any social interaction is completely exhausting for him so fingers crossed. Friday February 28th is the day we return to Brisbane for the follow up MRI. This will tell us how his brain is recovering post-surgery and also how the tumour has reacted to the past chemo & radiation. I will be a little more active in updating and communicating because I am going to be asking for a lot of prayers again. This MRI is going to be a big hurdle for us and we are hoping to get some good newshowever either way it is in Gods hands and we will accept it. Thank you all for your ongoing love and prayers, to know how many of you in your own busy lives with your own struggles still think and pray for us is humbling. We are very blessed. To everyone in Australia we hope that you received some lovely rain and to everyone in the US we hope you didnt get too much snow. Tania See more

06.01.2022 Sunday morning, slow day.

05.01.2022 I am so glad that chemo week didnt coincide with the first week of school, however it is amazing that on Monday we start Cycle 3 of Round 2 and officially hit half way on the current treatment chemotherapy program. Yippee! Could I please ask again for a mention in your prayers for the MRI on Friday & subsequent consult with the neurosurgeon on Monday. We will need all fingers and toes crossed and as many thoughts and prayers again as we wait to see if... again...we can avoid having the shunt surgery if only for another few weeks. Tania

05.01.2022 Guess who just walked 1000mts, yes that is 1km!! Super excited and no stopping him now.

04.01.2022 This was our sunrise this morning. I woke up thankful to hear light rain and thankful that everyone in the house had slept all night. Yesterday was tough and come to think of it so was the day before but I am back on track today. Thankfully the head & chest cold doesnt seem to be getting any worse for me or the kids. We had to see the Doctor on Thursday as the swelling in Dans brain was becoming unbearable for him. So the doctor put him back on the steroids again to help an...d it did within a few hours. Our amazing neighbour Sharon has again gone beyond normal human achievements. A full time carer for her own husband and 2 children, she has still carved out time to mow our lawn and bring home some medication for us along with a beautiful orchid for my (early) birthday present. That woman is amazing. I also had a few "work calls" to do yesterday....our business was never just "work" to us and now when I have the pleasure of speaking with clients I can remember why. We had a donation to our GoFundMe page yesterday...from a client... one of the last jobs we did before the diagnosis... and the 3rd donation by this humble man who we met and knew just briefly. We also had a call from another client who isnt that well himself but another caring and humble person who calls to ask how Dan is doing regularly. During our conversation he said that he had mentioned us to his sister and a niece, both who are Nuns in Malta, and that they had said that they would pray for us...every day in Malta. So I guess after writing all of this and looking back, yesterday was amazing, it was the roller coaster ride of low lows (you can cry and clean the shower at the same time) and yet when you take it all in and look around, there is so much to be thankful for. See more

04.01.2022 Very busy day today but more good news! Looking through a (very powerful) lens Dan was able to see in a straight line at the ophthalmologist, the first time in exactly 12mths. It was emotional and so inspiring to be given this kind of hope. So many thanks again to Dr Michael Statham and his staff.

03.01.2022 Prayers please: We are booked for an MRI in Brisbane at 9.30am this morning and then possible surgery on Wednesday for a shunt to be inserted.

02.01.2022 We are about to start the next stage of Dans brain cancer treatment and asking for prayer for: The tumor to have visibly shrunk on the MRI to be done on Friday 28th February. For Dan to not become ill with the quadruple doses of chemotherapy for the next 6 months.... For a safe trip to and from Brisbane on Friday and Saturday. For Gods peace and grace to be with Dan, the kids Wyatt & Ava and me (Tania). For the kids and I to finally get over the chest and head colds that we are struggling with. To thank God for answered prayers of Dan not catching our current colds and to protect him over the coming winter months. To ask God for improvements in Dans double vision, dizziness and balance problems and also for a reduction in fatigue. To thank God for all the wonderful people that love us, support us and are praying for us and may they also receive Gods blessing. See more

02.01.2022 Chemo - Round 2 - Cycle 1 - finished on Friday. Unfortunately, we also had to do a trip to Brisbane on Friday to see the Neurosurgeon to discuss swelling in Dans ventricles (brain) that was picked up on the MRI last week. This swelling is restricting Cerebral Spinal Fluid CSF from flowing freely and if the swelling doesnt reduce by the end of this month, Dan will require another surgery to insert a "shunt" to allow the CSF to pass into another part of his body such as his... abdomen. The issue with this is that it may also transfer cancer cells to other parts of his body. He is resting as much as he can but is in fairly constant pain. The good news is that the vomiting has stopped again. Prayers please for Wyatt for his maths exam today and Ava for her stress eczema, a decrease in Dans swelling and pain and continued health for all of us. Tania See more

02.01.2022 This is what answered prayers looks like! Healing in 10 days This picture was taken on Saturday. Please forgive us if this photo makes you a little squeamish but the evidence of the healing is just amazing. It is 2 weeks today (Monday) since Dan had the operation to remove the tumour. We now ask for prayers for the radiation and chemotherapy treatment and also for Dan to continue to get improvements in the left hand side of his face, especially his left eye. Thank you for your prayers!

02.01.2022 We have a good feeling about this MRI. Dan has been reasonably stable over the past couple of weeks and we are hoping that the MRI will reflect that as well. We have a telephone appointment with the neurosurgeon on Tuesday for the results and hope to hear the words "no shunt surgery required".

02.01.2022 Good to see Immunotherapy kicking some goals as it is our "other" option.

01.01.2022 Please God, please let these chemo treatments do their work. Please God let the next scan show a reduction in the tumour. Please God, we ask for a break in the treatment to regroup. Please God, may Dan have time without constant pain, double vision, lack of appetite and constant fight. Please God, we ask that you bless our family with these requests. Thank you for praying this prayer for us.
