24.01.2022 Retreat- I'm away this week- last newsletter... - https://mailchi.mp/danettewatsonyoga/newsletter Click here to read my short newsletter this week...I'll be away so only Monday morning and Friday morning meditation classes are on...

23.01.2022 Awareness is the power that is concealed within the present moment. This is why we may also call it Presence. The ultimate purpose of human existence, which is to say, your purpose, is to bring that power into the world. Eckhart Tolle In yoga last week in the Park, we explored the nature of our thoughts and our constantly wanting mind and then we explored the power of presence and feeling our Aliveness in each moment a la Eckhart Tolle. He says: The only thing that ultima...tely matters is this: Can I sense my essential Beingness, the I AM, in the background of my life at all times? He says when we do this, we become free of the ego, free of the constant wanting something more, free of our Pain-Bodywe become free to BE. What brings you a sense of your own Presence? Nature? The breath? Your senses? Your heart? This is a little collage of our practice last weekyou are always welcome to join our group of beautiful, empowered, kind women Thursdays 10-11:30am at Chinaman’s Dam and then for lunch afterwards. It’s like a mid-week retreat in Nature. xx. If you can’t make Thursday, you can follow all my classes on my online studio

23.01.2022 DH Lawrence once said: We are not free when we're doing just what we like. We are only free when we're doing what the deepest self likes. And there is getting down to the deepest self! It takes some diving. We explored this theme in our Dru Yoga class this week- I LOVE Dru Yoga where there is so much ... joy and fun, rest and challenge, peace and inner work going within and gathering with like-minded souls Here are a few snippets from this week’s class. You are always most welcome to join us. Normally we’re in the park but this week was a bit icy so we moved upstairs to the art space at the Cinema- thank you, thank you! If you can’t come to a live class, you can always also join online. This class is up in the Online Studio already if you’re keen to explore Intention and do some diving- if you don’t make conscious choice about where you’re going and how you’re living, then social media, friends, well-meaning loved ones, the habit energy of everyday life will choose for you WHAT IS YOUR HIGHEST INTENTION IN THIS MOMENT? Tara Brach tells us that there are three signs it comes from Your Highest Self: 1. It manifests your innate potential. It is already there within you , waiting to be fulfilledexpressed 2. It is embodied. When you choose it, you know it’s powerful because your whole body feels itawakens 3. It is available to you right now. Not some future, I’ll-be-happy-when intentionit is here RIGHT NOW. Namaste beautiful souls xx

22.01.2022 Start your week by strengthening your ability to be living and kind. 7-7:30am Monday on Zoom. According to Stanford psychologist and researcher Emma Seppala: The purpose of Lovingkindness is to make people feel more connected and kind to others as well as to themselves. There was very little research on loving-kindness meditation at the time we started our research. So my fabulous colleague Cendri Hutcherson and I launched a 5 year study of loving-kindness and examined ...its impact on well-being, happiness and the brain. 100s of participants went through our studies and we found some really interesting data! For one, loving-kindness meditation makes you feel closer to others, even strangers. And this happens not just consciously (as in you noticing that you feel closer to this person) but also on a deeper level (in that you automatically react more positively to people). We also found that it increases your feelings of happiness and well-being generally. In another study, we found that loving-kindness meditation makes you less self-focused (i.e. you have less thoughts about me, myself and I). And that’s a good thing, folks! Self-focus is associated with anxiety and depression. Our brain imaging findings (Yes, we did have people meditate while getting their brains scanned!) also support these findings. So what’s the bottom line? Loving-Kindness is good for you: it makes you feel happy, less focused on yourself, more connected to others and all of those things are good for your psychological and physical health Practising live together on Zoom, we have the opportunity to feel connected and to offer a Lovingkindness dedication to someone in our lives. To join, book on my website danettewatson.com.au or DM me for the link.

15.01.2022 The Dalai Lama has said, If you want to be happy practise compassion. If you want others to be happy, practise compassion. Compassion can be learned and cultivated. The practice of Metta Meditation is one way. It is an important and foundational practice in Buddhist meditation traditions in which we direct lovingkindness toward ourselves and then, in a sequence of expansion, towards somebody we love already, somebody we are neutral towards, somebody we have difficulty wit...h and ultimately toward all beings everywhere without distinction. So we begin with ourselves and expand our circle of compassion outwards until we include all living beings. You can join me each Monday morning 7-7:30am on Zoom to begin the week by activating compassion and loving friendliness towards yourself and all beings. It is truly a life-changing practice xx To join, go to danettewatson.com.au and book the class. You can also listen to a free lovingkindness meditation under Free Meditations on my site.

14.01.2022 Feeling scattered? Stressed? Just ready for a moment of centring? Join me for a few minutes of Ocean or Whispering Breath(a clip from the beginning of our Sun Salute class this week) I take you through a short introif you’re really keen to explore more, DM for a private session... Ujjayi breathing is a technique that allows you to calm your mind by focusing on your breath. It’s the most common form of pranayama (breath control) used during asana (body posture/pose) practices. How to do ujjayi breathing Both inhalation and exhalation are done through the nose. As you inhale and exhale: * Constrict your throat to the point that your breathing makes a rushing noise, almost like snoring. * Control your breath with your diaphragm. * Keep your inhalations and exhalations equal in duration. At first, it may feel like you’re not getting enough air, but the technique should become easier with practice. What are the potential benefits? Ujjayi breathing may: * release tension throughout the body * Improve concentration and clarity * regulate heating and cooling of the body * diminish pain from headaches, * relieve sinus pressure, * decrease phlegm, * strengthenthe nervous and digestive systems * Encourage free flow of prana * Regulate blood pressure * Help yoga practitioner to maintain a rhythm while they practice * Build energy * Detoxify mind and body * Increase feelings of presence, self-awareness, and meditative qualities Enjoy xx

13.01.2022 Yoga for Digestion tomorrow at Chinamans Dam 10-11:30am- Dru Yoga sequence and deep relaxation . All welcome. Wear layers and embrace this beautiful space out in Nature! Our physical digestion is intimately linked to our emotional state- our ability to mentally/emotionally digest our life experiences. Is your digestion sluggish? Are you holding on- resisting letting go? Is it too quick and sloppy (sorry!)- are you rushing through life, not taking the time to savour and fully integrate your life experiences? Let’s build some digestive fire and nurture and balance this most important system in our bodies. Message me if you’ve never been and you’re unsure what to bring

09.01.2022 We were blessed at the end of yoga and meditation at Chinaman’s Dam this week with some very special visitors who wanted to show off their babies to us. Here are some snippets of the class and visitors at the end! This week was about Balance. Wayne Dyer, the psychologist and spiritual teacher, said that balance is not about reorganising your life or finding new strategiesit’s about realigning your thoughts so that what you desire (your goals, intent...ions, wishes) are balanced with HOW YOU SHOW UP EACH DAY IN YOUR LIFE. Are your actions and words aligned with your highest intentions and desires. If so, THAT is balance. With this in mind, we also worked on a beautiful balance flow to build strength and agility The weather is so beautifulyou can always join us Thursdays 10-11:30am at Chinaman’s Dam. All levels welcome. Call or DM if you’re unsure. A welcoming, friendly group of women! And we have lunch together afterwards xx

02.01.2022 Are you one of the 33-45% of adults that are struggling with sleep issues? Meditation can help with the processes that support and initiate sleep. For example, in a 2015 study published in JAMA Internal Medicine Trusted Source, researchers analyzed how mindfulness meditation affected 49 adults with moderate sleep issues. The participants were randomly assigned 6 weeks of meditation or sleep hygiene education. At the end of the study, the meditation group experienced fewer ins...omnia symptoms and less daytime fatigue.
