23.01.2022 Today, our Educators met at the amazing Melbourne Museum for a training day. First was a session on embedding Aboriginal Culture into our curriculum. As well as... an exploration of history, we were able to hear the Dreaming creation story of Bunjil the Eagle, which was lovely, given it is NAIDOC Week.. Later, we learned more about Nature Based Play and A Parents Journey: Diagnosis of a child on the Autism Spectrum. See more

21.01.2022 Hygiene at home Encouraging good hygiene habits in children while they are young helps them develop good life skills and stay healthy. Here are some simple hygiene rules you can follow to maintain a hygienic environment at home: Remind your child when they should wash their hands e.g. before eating, after using the toilet, after touching an animal etc. Model good personal hygiene skills, and describe to your child what you are doing. For example, seeing you wash your hands b...efore cooking. Teach your child the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day. You may want to consult your childs dentist to know if they need to floss as well. Remind your child to cover their mouth when sneezing or coughing. Teach your child how to blow their nose gently when its blocked, and throw the tissue in a dustbin immediately after. Encourage your child to think about why good hygiene skills are important Always have a spare set of clothes ready in case of any accidents e.g. toilet accidents or food and drink spills Keep your child at home when they are sick and potentially contagious While bathing daily is hygienic, it is not recommended to bathe babies daily. Visit Pregnancy Birth & Baby for more information on washing your baby. The best way to wash your hands This method is recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council: Wash hands with running water Use liquid soap and spread over hands Rub your hands together and wash all over Wash palms and backs of hands, between your fingers, under finger nails and around your wrists Rinse your hands enough so all the soap and germs are gone Turn off tap using paper towel Pat dry your hands with a new paper Encourage your children not to touch the tap after they have used it as the tap will have germs on it. 20.01.2022 From 11:59pm, Wednesday 22/7/20, it will be mandatory for everyone over the age of 12 in the Melbourne area and Mitchell Shire to wear a mask when outside their... house. For under 12 years, it is recommended but not compulsory. For under 2 years, masks should not be worn due to strangulation and choking risks. Please ensure you use your mask properly, covering both mouth and nose, and wash your hands prior to putting it on and after taking it off. See more

12.01.2022 Loving the new playspace in our Community. So natural with endless amounts of opportunities to explore and discover!

11.01.2022 Benefits Of Outdoor Area Just as you would design and arrange the indoor space. You must give careful thought to ensure that children are exposed to activities and materials that support growth and development. Listed below are some suggested learning objectives that support a childs overall development. Children develop decision making (choosing an outdoor activity).... Enables children to re-enact life experiences (playing as a firefighter, painting a fence with water). Encourages children to develop and co-ordinate hand/eye movements (catching, throwing etc). Helps children develop gross motor skills (climbing, swinging, jumping etc). Children have a better understanding of spatial awareness (swinging, climbing up, down, over or under). Develops childrens balance (using the balance equipment, walking on different surfaces). Increases childrens vocabulary (learning new names for natural objects, plants, birds animals). Demonstrates childrens social skills (participating in social play with other children). Being outdoors provides an endless amount of opportunities for children to explore and discover. Children will begin to notice changes in the weather, listen to different sounds and explore natural objects, which you can use to encourage further learning outdoors with children.

07.01.2022 This week we spent a lot of time exploring water! We watered the vegetable garden and the pot plants with watering cans and spray bottles. We had a large container under the tap to collect water to reuse. We poured the leftover water from our drinks into the indoor plant. We discussed the importance of not wasting water as it is precious. We learnt how to recycle water instead of wasting it.
