25.01.2022 Good news! I've received a decision and five documents are to be released in full and four in part, pending the processing of the remaining administration fees. All documents scheduled for release should enter the public domain next week, via this link: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//minutes_of_all_meetings_of

25.01.2022 There is a desperate need in civil society for investigative journalists drawing attention to injustice and prompting legislative reform. This design is a post-modern nod to the original so-called "muckraker" journalists of the early 20th century, who used their skills and moral compass to make the world a better place.

24.01.2022 Good news. Pending the processing of my final payment, the documentation requested is likely to be released into the public domain via the RightToKnow website next week. If you'd like to see the list of documents forthcoming, the list is available here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//all_correpondence_and_docu Thanks again for your support and your patience.

23.01.2022 We have a number of new artworks that will be showing in regional South Australian galleries in the coming months. The artwork below is currently showing at the Kimba Institute, as an entrant in the 2017 Kimba Art Prize.

23.01.2022 Our year in art is wrapping up but we're soldiering on with our two long-term projects: the documentary film Cuttlefish Country and the computer game Cuttle Scuttle. Both have been many years in the making, and we hope you'll find them well worth the wait.

22.01.2022 A new Danimations design for the surveillance age.

21.01.2022 It's nice to be revisiting some animation we made for a NY theatre production called The Dudleys! back in 2009-10. Audiences are soon going to be treated to an enhanced widescreen version of the show's animated backdrops. Live actors perform on stage before them, and interact with 1980s pixellated digital scenery, characters and props.

20.01.2022 Dan's been busy building up an illustration and design portfolio over on Freelancer. You can hire Danimations directly through the site from anywhere in the world, at any time.

20.01.2022 Good news, the first batch of documents following this FoI has now been released. It can be downloaded in a .zip file at: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//all_correpondence_and_docu A remaining 10 documents are awaiting third party review and are yet to be released. Thanks again for your support, and please feel free to share any of your thoughts on the documentation as I work my way through it.

20.01.2022 Great news! It's still day 1 of this campaign, and our administration costs for this Freedom of Information requests are almost fully paid. We're now just $10 shy of our target. Thanks to our two generous donors and to everyone who's shared this campaign with their friends and networks.

19.01.2022 Well, fees are now paid and this request is in the hands of the Department of Defence. I would expect to receive documents within a month.

19.01.2022 DOCUMENTS RELEASED: Thanks to your support, the minutes of meetings of the Woomera Prohibited Area have been released into the public domain. There are a few redacted (censored) sections, but the minutes show the operation of the body, their stakeholder engagement and the aspirations for the area- essentially to facilitate shared use between defence, pastoral, mining and aboriginal users of this closed tract of land the size of England. You can download all meeting minutes from 2012 to August 2016 in a single, searchable .PDF file here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//FOI%20054%201617%20Documen You can also follow my written correspondence on the topic with the Department of Defence here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//minutes_of_all_meetings_of

18.01.2022 Good news! After months of anticipation, the minutes for all meetings of the Uranium Council from 2011 to 2016 inclusive are ready for release. I will pay the remaining fee next week, but would like to make a last ditch appeal to any prospective donors who would like to help us reach our original fundraising target of $440. Thanks again to everyone who has already supported this and previous FoI fundraising campaigns by sharing these updates or making donations.

16.01.2022 Someone just bought one of our slogan shirts from our Zazzle store. "Do not bend"... a demonstration of determination and will-power.

14.01.2022 Danimations Digital Media Tips are back! This episode shows you how to upgrade an Acer Chromebox CXI, and identifies all the key components.

14.01.2022 We're nearly a third of the way to raising the funds required to cover the admin costs for this request. It is expected to yield 17 years of minutes of meetings between Australian commercial and military maritime interests, associated government departments and agencies. Once successful, that information will remain in the public domain forever. Please help spread the word and know with confidence that your donation is serving the public interest.

13.01.2022 Dan Monceaux has had a busy year in video art, making and showing new works in art galleries and at special events. Here's a recap of 2017.

13.01.2022 If you're wondering what's happening at Danimations, we're in the midst of transforming into Force of Nature. Our new name better represents the environmental theme which runs through the majority of our creative work.

12.01.2022 Thanks Pix. Your support is invaluable.

12.01.2022 Our game and film productions are getting closer... your next chance to play Cuttle Scuttle at a public event will be on Spetember 24. You can also download and play the beta version of the game here.

12.01.2022 Generous supporters of public interest research! I've just heard back from the Department of Industry and am now expecting the release of these minutes no later than December 24. It seems that extra time was required for consultation with 3rd parties, of which there are many. If all goes well, we should have some reading material in time for Christmas. If you know anyone who wants to give the gift of open government this festive season, please direct them to this fundraising... campaign. We're still $180 short of the total administrative charges. Thanks for your support everyone, and as is necessary with all bureaucratic processes, your eternal patience!

11.01.2022 In the past few years, we've become frequent users of Freedom of Information Acts at State and Federal levels. Here's the batch of our bulk document releases.

11.01.2022 This week I was updated on the progress of this FoI request. It turns out that the department has suggested that I reduce the time period of minutes requested to be from 2010 to present (instead of 2000 to present) owing to the recently discovered need for extensive 3rd party consultation. Without recoping, the request was likely to be refused on the basis of the administrative burden it would place on the responsible department. As such I've honored the request, and include...d an additional request that a cost reduction be considered. If costs are revised and come to less than the $300 raised, the remaining funds will be held over and used to fund an additional request for minutes of the same entity from preceding years in the future. Thanks for your support, everyone.

11.01.2022 Our main focus at the moment is advancing our documentary film Cuttlefish Country through post production. Our game Cuttle Scuttle is also approaching its commercial release. 2016 will be quite a year!

11.01.2022 Just had some nice news from abroad. Can't say anything more at this stage: sorry! :P

09.01.2022 Wow! Thanks to three generous donors, this Freedom of Information request directed at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) has been fully funded. Your support had made this public interest research possible.

09.01.2022 Great news everyone- the minutes have been released at last, and can be read by anyone here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//FOI%20078%201617%20Documen My personal analysis is pending and I'll update supporters of my observations in due course. Thanks for helping make this release possible!

09.01.2022 Last days to see Emma and Dan's artworks at the Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery. Look out for Dan's marine life video art pieces (cuttlefish and fiddler ray), Emma's coastal and marine life inspired scarf designs (nudibranch and pigface), and digital illustrations printed on canvas from both artists. The group exhibition they are featured in closes on November 5, and the gallery is open daily.

07.01.2022 I was just asked by the Department of Defence if I would allow them to identify me as the applicant while they consult with 3rd parties regarding my FoI request. I granted them permission, and am now expecting to receive documentation no later than 11 November 2016.

06.01.2022 There are a few ambitious, socially-minded independent documentary filmmakers at work in Australia, and Charlie Hill-Smith is one of them. Well done to his team for pulling together a novel road (air) trip movie which serves as a gentle introduction to the richness of aboriginal culture and the rugged beauty of the Aussie interior. Check out Motorkite Dreaming during its short run at the Mercury Cinema, also coming soon to SBS and DVD.

06.01.2022 Great news everyone! Progress has been made and the minutes of 10 meetings of the Australian Maritime Defence Council have been cleared for release following my request. These span the years 2010 until 2016. My appeal for the Department to consider reducing the administration costs owing to the public interest merits of the request was also fruitful, resulting in a reduction of costs by approximately 50%. The costs saved through this negotiation will be paid forward to a rela...ted, future Freedom of Information request. Once I've received and paid the final invoice from the Department of Defence, the documents will be released into the public domain. This ought to happen before the week is through. Thanks again for your support, everyone. Those super-interested can also follow the administrative process of request, negotiation and fulfillment via RightToKnow here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//minutes_of_all_meetings_of

03.01.2022 The Department of Industry contacted me yesterday, encouraging me to rescope my request to focus on content relevant to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission in South Australia. I responded by notifying them that I sought the minutes in their entirity, as I am interested in the sector's relationship with government. While the Royal Commission and the South Australia have been a key research focus for me since 2015, I am always interested in understanding the wider context and deeper history. Hence my original request for meeting minutes, rather than discussions of a specific topic. You can follow the paper trail of correspondence here: https://www.righttoknow.org.au//minutes_and_agendas_of_all

02.01.2022 I have some amazing news! Thanks to eight donors, all the government administration costs associated with releasing 17 years of minutes of meetings of the Australian Maritime Defence Council have been met. I look forward to sharing their contents with you and providing my analysis of them. If all goes well, the documents should be released into the public domain within a month.
