25.01.2022 Messy play is the most fun play. We froze flowers we collected from the ground on our walk then the next day enjoyed a sensory experience painting with the coloured frozen flowers. Adding jewels and glitter to the mix made it so colourful. An activity allowing the children to take it wherever their mind led them and get messy hands along the way.

25.01.2022 Rainy day = playdough of course. Playdough is such a favourite activity, the choices are endless. We created our own resources today to stamp with. The children's creativity is explored while developing their fine motor and hand eye coordination skills.

24.01.2022 Welcome to my new page & new venture as a family daycare educator. I decided to start this page to share some special moments I share with the kiddie, to give an idea of how I run my program & to also show the public a visual on my cosy space I provide here in Peregian Breeze. Please get in touch if you are in need of care for your little one. I look forward to sharing our journey with you all. Dannii

24.01.2022 Let’s all work together. Help our children understand too

21.01.2022 Helping the children to feel important and welcome, we start our day off by seeing who's here adding our names to the chart. We have now added our own welcome to country poster, to celebrate NAIDOC week, where we will now also say our welcome verse each morning together. Creating a sense of identity and connecting the children to their community, country and eachother.

21.01.2022 A day in the life at Dannii's Daycare

20.01.2022 Letting the children get messy is such a big part of their development, learning and growing....and another bonus about daycare, we take care of the mess for you!

19.01.2022 Incorporating colours and numbers can be fun!

19.01.2022 So simple yet So fun...and SOOOOO messy. Homemade slime with cornflour food dye and water... we learnt how to make new colours by mixing 2 colours together. And not to mention the language learning opportunities. The slime was wet, smooth, sticky, oozy, gooey, soft, blue green, turquoise, cold, yucky...lots of words and learning their meaning. The more mess the more fun I say!

19.01.2022 Make your own paint. Super easy, fun and educational all at once! Just use flour, water and food colouring. Have the kiddies involved with measuring, scooping, pouring and mixing. Mix colours, use hands and fingers, get messy!

18.01.2022 I am very regularly hearing about how difficult children are being for their parents alot lately...this explanation below helps clear up exactly why this may be happening or is one of the reasons why your darlings may not be so lovely lately... take it as a compliment! ;)

17.01.2022 For those families struggling with their child having meltdowns and tantrums... this webinar may be of help... free for all also!

17.01.2022 I hope this isn't really an issue?!!! I love the children I work with and feel it's important that they know they're loved and special.

16.01.2022 Simple puzzle play can be extended in so many ways...our favourite is through sensory! Opportunity to be creative, colour and shape recognition, fine motor skill development, language skills aswell as building on each child's sense of belonging, ...all through this one fun activity ;)

14.01.2022 Children love to cook. Even though most of it ends up on floor, there's so much opportunity for learning through cooking experiences. Learning about measuring. Developing their fine motor skills. Discussions about the ingredients and where they come from etc. Plus, eating the end result is the best part!! Today we made a healthy version of chocolate cupcakes, as finding ingredients at the moment is tough. Still was a hit!!

14.01.2022 Letter recognition games can be fun! Find the letter then smash the egg shell!

12.01.2022 We 'saved the dinosaurs' from their homes being frozen! Smashing coloured ice to free the dinosaurs was fun and another learning extension from our dinosaur habitat play..

12.01.2022 Today we chose colours and activities that made us feel happy. Even though times are strange lately, there's always ways too bring colour and joy into each day

11.01.2022 Focusing on colours this week... Play based learning is built off the children's current interests... no better way to learn!!

10.01.2022 Has your child received their flu shot this year? Remember it is free for children under 5 years. It's a very quick and easy shot and small needle so doesn't hurt much. Highly recommend as this winter has been decreased as the worst one yet... Winter is coming....

10.01.2022 What a little cute so proud of her creation for her babies and her 'Chelsea' to play in. A castle made out of recycled materials. Teaching children about reusing aswell as allowing their creativity to flow. Just look at her smile!!!

09.01.2022 Mixing colours while making slime. A successful messy experience the children loved. They were able to build on their colour recognition and learn what colours make when they mix together. This was also a great sensory experience as they felt the sticky slime through their hands. We also built on their language skills by practising saying many words and discovering their meaning such as smooth, sticky, chilly, slimey and wet. Learning Outcome 4: Children are confident and inv...olved learners. Learning Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators See more

09.01.2022 Instead of throwing out those egg shells, incorporate them into your children's play! We hid letters under the shells, the children smashed them with spoons, then named the letter hidden underneath them! Educational and super fun!

08.01.2022 Trying to think outside the 'box' Cardboard box cut out train and car track What a winner to the children. This fun activity was also a learning experience. We talked about how many wheels cars, motorbikes and trains have, each colour of the vehicles, counted how many there are and talked about the different road rules and how we can recycled different materials to make many different fun things to play with

08.01.2022 THANKYOU Katrina For being our voice. I hope this gets to who it needs to get to so you are heard. Like you said, it's crazy to think we are the only industry to have been asked to continue to work through this pandemic but not continue to get paid what we normally do for our work! We are expected to be ok to earn less and sometimes earn nothing for the same work! Please share this so Family Daycare is recognised through these times.... We have to stay 'open' to be paid, but we are being paid less than minimum wage at a few dollars per hour. See more

07.01.2022 A simple addition to our window has made an all day learning opportunity. We keep referring to the coloured cellophane naming each colour and shape. We will change the shapes every few weeks, adding letters and numbers also.

07.01.2022 Messfree paint bags colour recognition sensory exploration fine motor development FUN!

07.01.2022 For those who are unaware, although this new childcare package is absolutely amazing for families who need to work as they now have access to free childcare, sadly it has come at a huge loss to our industry as well as my small family daycare business where I am now expected to continue to work for below minimum wage. The government has promised us a package to help supplement the income and run our business, which hasn’t even been passed in parliament yet, meanwhile we have t...o get through the next month on basically next to nothing, until they decide. I am so lucky to have such amazing families in my care, that have understood my position now and what I am faced with. As much as it was a shock to me, now my families also may struggle as I have no choice by to reduce my working hours and days to suit my 'already decided weekly pay cheque' by the government. I feel for those who have or are struggling in this time due to COVID-19 and the new rules that the government has enforced, as alot of us were not considered. For those of you who know me, if there is anything I can do for you, please ask, if I am able to I am more than willing to help. Let's all stick together, support each other and please remember that we all have some struggle during this time, and we need to do what's best for our own families and our own wellbeing. I am so looking forward to the next 6 month's hopefully flying by so we can all go back to normal.

06.01.2022 The joys of doing daycare from home...leave it set up for your own kiddies to enjoy too!

05.01.2022 Sometimes a parent may look at the work their child did to take home and be disappointed its not 'pretty', but please, don't be disappointed. Be happy that you are receiving their actual work that they did alone. I am one to not do the child's work for them. I can show them an example of what I did or a picture that they can work off, but they should be given the opportunity to make it their own, create it how they see it. This is how children's creativity and imagination are developed. Who cares if its not neat or not in the lines, they did it! Be proud of their work no matter what it may 'look' like, because to them, it's amazing.

05.01.2022 Simple play can not only be fun but educational aswell. Today all the children loved these balloons hanging from the frame with added shapes drawn on and their names written on also. This bright and fun experience allowed the children to develop on their shape and letter/ name recognition aswell as developing their fine motor/ hand eye coordination skills by hitting the hanging balloons! Was a joy to listen to all the laughter!

04.01.2022 Building on the children's Identity today as this week is Children's Rights Week. We talked alot about who we are, what we love, what makes us happy, our families and then we looked in the mirror and looked at ourselves in the reflection. We talked about what's on our faces. 2 eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair. Then the children were encouraged to paint how they see themselves. This built a sense of pride and confident within the children and how proud they were of their painting of themselves. Learning Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

03.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all those special dads out there and also to all the mummas doing both jobs! Being a parent is the most hard but most rewarding job in the world! Hope you have had the best day with your little ones

03.01.2022 Invitations to play allows children to take the activity to wherever they want it to go... giving them the opportunity to explore their imagination and creativity...

02.01.2022 Creating sensory experiences allows children to be creative and use their imagination endlessly. Our ocean theme sensory play was extending from a conversation with a child about visiting Seaworld. We looked at our resources and put together an ocean tray with kinetic sand, shells, jewels and ocean animals. Such fun!

02.01.2022 Colours and textures to create beautiful art work. By Miss Siena (2yrs old!) Activities like this help build on fine motor skills and can ignite creativity and wonder. We can also teach children how to create using natural materials from our environment.

01.01.2022 Love that it's still winter but hot enough for water play! The kiddies love to mix, pour, scoop, measure and splash! Even this activity is a learning experience with areas being focused on: Fine motor skills Hand eye coordination Cognitive development... Experimentation Colour recognition Language development Social development And the most important part...it was FUN! See more

01.01.2022 What better way to keep your kiddies entertained on this rainy day other than with sensory play...my fav kind of play. This was a big hit with the littlies and will be a regular activity that I'll keep handy ;)
