03.01.2022 Baby Chicks in a Brooder Box. Always keep an eye on your chicks and look for signs of illness or discomfort. Things such as chirping loudly and huddling together, they are too cold. Spread out, beaks open, panting, they are too hot. Chicks standing by themselves withdrawn, may have head down, may be fluffed up, treat immediately for coccidiosis. Red in their poo, usually blood, again treat immediately for coccidiosis. Balls on their toenails, gently remove and immediately clean brooder box, this are sometimes refered to as poo shoes.
