25.01.2022 Alright troops, you are killing this #deskto5k program! I’m so proud of you all. I’m fist pumping with every run selfie I’m tagged in. Keep it up legends! This week it gets a little more complex as we up our progression on each of your 3 runs & lengthen out the on time. If you’re not ready to step it up, stay with week 2. Just don’t stop. ... And if you aren’t already using an interval timer, this would be a good time to download one. Now, you ready to run?



24.01.2022 Week 1- #deskto5k 3 runs in this week ahead. Lock them in your diary. The hardest part is putting on your runners. ... That or trying not to wee *If you’re doing this on a treadmill, please set incline to 3 to counteract the help the tready gives you with drag. Rest days Rest days are super important. Have at least one between each run. They will reduce your chance of injury and allow your muscles & joints the necessary time to repair & get stronger. It would be also be a good idea to begin a soft flow yoga program or stretching routine on your days between runs. Make sure that you stretch out your ITB (runs from your outside hip, down your lateral knee). Also stretch out your calf muscles daily. Chuck in a quick massage to the shins with some Aromatouch essential oil and 1 or 2 Epsom salt baths through out the week & you’ll be sweet! 24.01.2022 #deskto5k WEEK 7 // Betcha didn’t think you were gonna kick ass like you did last week huh? Runners, you are NAILING this program and I could not be prouder. This week we have 3 runs. All the same. ... Warm up, then 25 minutes, non-stop running. Now a few of you have mentioned that your pace is slow. I hear ya! I’m not breaking any land speed records myself. This week is a chance to work on that. If you have a gps watch or phone, see if you can make it further in each of your 25mins runs this week. As always, make sure you’re cooling down and stretching adequately too. You don’t want to get this far in and feel a tinge. Muddy started seeing a fantastic chiro twice weekly last week (@alignwithelise at @liberty_health if you’re local & needing a good one yourself) & it’s making the world of difference to his old man complaints. Alrighty, ready to run??

23.01.2022 #deskto5k WEEK 8 // SAAAYYYY WHHHHAATTT??? Totally stuffed up my days because I pushed my week 7, 3rd run out to Sunday. This should have been posted last night guys, my bad! Word on the street was that Week 7 was super challenging. I know I found it tough. But guys, where’s the fun in doing shit only when it’s easy?? Where’s the growth in that? ... This week we keep to the 25 minutes uninterrupted running for 2 out of 3 of our runs. Then for the 3rd we take it up to 30 minutes non stop If you’re not already doing so, 5km sub 30mins is happening for you either this week or next! If you didn’t quite accomplish Week 7 runs as prescribed, stick with that for another week. But if you’re feeling determined to do so, take on Week 8 legend! Now, you ready to run??

20.01.2022 I am LOVING seeing so many pics & tags coming through of people taking to the footpaths, roads, tracks or treadmills to begin the task of #deskto5k I’m cheering you on hard (between my own puffing and panting ) I’m also dropping in here as a Safety Sally to talk safe progression for injury prevention. ... Progression Tips // This program is designed for beginners to gradually build up there running ability so that they can eventually run five k’s without stopping. The pace suits those who have 9 weeks to work on progression. If however you find, due to injury, you can’t keep up with the incremental progressions, you can repeat any one of the weeks until you feel physically ready to move onto the next weeks training. There is no one competing with you here except yourself. So go easy, just don’t stop. Structure is super important here, both for motivation & injury prevention so try hard to allocate specific days of the week for your runs and stick to the program as closely as you can. Injury management // People new to running or for who have left it too long between drinks may experience some of the following aches & pains: calf tightness sore shins/shin splints tight ITB band tight hamstrings sore joints ( knees and/or ankles) These little aches and pains can be caused by running on hard surfaces or running in shoes that don’t provide adequate support for ankles or feet. Best way to deal with them is daily stretch and/or massage. If you have the ability to do so, book a session with your osteo/physio/chiro/remedial massage therapist regularly over the next 6 weeks to keep you in top form. Stitches are also a common pain. Some people are more prone to these than others. I find 3 quick breathes in through the nose, followed by 3 quick hard exhales out the mouth then keep repeating, sometimes helps to release the diaphragm spasm that causes the stitch. 19.01.2022 Lemon & Lime Curd Gummies Massive shout out to @jordiepieface for this stellar recipe. You’ve allowed me to eat my weight in lemon curd & convince myself it’s health food. Winning! These gummies are high in protein, essential fatty acids, vitamin A & vitamin D & gut healing, skin loving nutrients. I mean, imagine pretending this was a treat? ... This is the @thermomixaus method of prep but Jordan has the stove top version online as well so check out her website for that. But if you have a thermi, this recipe is simple as shit! Just chuck the following ingredients into the bowl. 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (I used lime because I had them) Zest of 3 lemons (or limes) 2 tbsps of quality grass fed gelatin 3-5 tbsps of sweetener of choice (I went with 3 tbsps of raw local honey for the added allergy/hayfever support, but you could go with rice malt syrup for a low fructose alternative) 150g of organic butter, cubed 2 egg yolks + 3 eggs Mix at 80 degrees, on speed 2 for 10 mins, turning it up to speed 5 for the last 2 mins. Once finished, pour through a sieve (in case of any lumps) straight into a baking paper lined tray or container. Pop in the fridge. Watch fridge door & check incessantly every few minutes to see if it’s set enough to eat. On your 50th check, it should be set. Safety Tip: DO NOT let your children see you prepare this. This is HIGHLY important. Because what you’re going to need to do is come back once those cherubs are in bed and eat two whole rows to yourself. Because: health food.

Guys we’re at the point that by the end of this week, depending on pace, you may be running 5km. If you’re a bit of a Cliffy Shuffler like me, continue progression through week 7-9. Slow progress is still progress! ... Now, ready to run??

17.01.2022 There’s some things I’ve learnt about myself these past few years. This year in particular. Here’s some of those learnings... I am a visionary. ... I connect the dots from here to there. Information gathering is my superpower. Dissecting & discerning it is my jam. I am the Queen of adjusting the sails and altering my course should the wind blow in a way I wasn’t expecting. I have the natural ability to anticipate the play, the risks, then the recourse. I am agile AF once I decide the best course of action. My intuition & gut instinct have never steered me wrong. Not once. My gut feel is my North Star. I am a positive force of change. I will take something or someone who is strong & transform it into something superb. I am a catalyst. I take ideas and turn them into action. I will leave a room & anyone in it in better shape than it was when I entered it. I see potential. In people. In places. In ideas. And I help others see the same. I know intimately what I have to offer the world and I now, after almost 37 revolutions around the sun, have the confidence to share my gifts with anyone who wishes to enter into a positive energy exchange with me. I will give with every fibre of my being, but without reciprocity, I will seek out another avenue of giving that will fill me rather than empty me. And finally, embracing my strengths and working with them, rather than focusing on my weaknesses and feeling inadequate because of them has been the biggest gamechanger for my growth. There’s a hell of a lot of things I don’t do so well and I will often fvck up. Rather than beat myself up because I want to better that those skills, I call it out, I apologise, then I lean hard on the things that I excel at. I return back to my zone of genius. Modern day desire for a quick fix plays very well into the trillion dollar industry of treating the symptom. ... Got a skin issue? Let’s put this cream on it. I just had to test how long this baby would last in the fridge and you’ll be pleased to know, that if you hide it right up the back behind the pickles and the assorted jars of sauces & spreads, you might have a chance of this lasting a week like I did. It truly is a delicious occasion cake. And when I say occasion, MONDAY is an occasion. It’s #dairyfree #vegan #glutenfree #paleofriendly all kinds of heaven. And with just two ste...ps and all natural ingredients, it’s basically a breakfast food guys. // Raw Chocolate Espresso Cake // Base: * 1 cup (160g) raw almonds * 1 cup (170g) firmly packed medjool dates, plus more if needed * 1/4 cup (18g) raw cacao powder * 1/2 tsp of Wholistic Health Essentials Ötzi’s Powder (optional) Filling: * 3/4 cup (180ml) organic unrefined coconut oil, melted * 2/3 cup (160ml) liquid sweetener of choice (raw honey, maple syrup or rice malt syrup) * 1/2 cup (120ml) can of full fat organic coconut milk (shake, then pour) * 1/3 cup (80ml) espresso * 1/2 cup (36g) raw cacao powder * 3 cups (420g) raw unsalted cashews, soaked * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 1/8 teaspoon fine pink salt Step 1- throw all the ingredients for the base in a thermi or a food processor and blitz until mix starts to clump together. Add another date or two if it isn’t clumping. Once it begins to hold together, empty mix into a small springform pan (that’s been greased with a little coconut oil) & press down very firmly into base. Put into freezer while preparing filling. Step 2- throw all ingredients for filling into a high speed blender or thermi & blitz under mix is smooth AF, scrapping down sides every few minutes. Once done, pour on top of base. Smooth over top then place back in the freezer for a few hours until set. Before serving, bring it out of the freezer to defrost. Store leftovers (hahahahahahaha- AS IF!!) covered in fridge. Others have repeated a few weeks before moving to the next, so your 5km distance is still to come for you. And some of you have fallen off the run wagon but have reached out to tell me you’re starting from Week 1 again. I think I’m proud of you guys the most. It’s takes courage & determination to say, I didn’t make it th...is time, but I’m willing to start again. You should celebrate that shit just as much as those who have hit or will hit their 5km goal this week. Legends, it’s been fun & motivating to run alongside you for these past 8 weeks. 01.01.2022 Molluscum contagiosum a.k.a. absolute pain in the ass for kids. These little wart like bumps about the size of a pinhead, can appear solo or in clusters on the truck, limbs or face of children. These highly contagious warts are caused by a common strain of virus MCV and tend to be quite difficult to get rid of. Some outbreaks can last for years in children and unfortunately there’s not really an effective over the counter remedy. Or one that doesn’t involve some pain (burning... off the wart). But plants know what’s up right? Peer reviewed studies have shown pure Lemon Myrtle essential oil to be up to 90% effective in reducing the outbreak & preventing further molluscum lesions. How cool is that??! Luckily we have a rad little Australian Lemon Myrtle in DoTERRA’s range (of course we do ). Helpful tip: aggravate the wart a little before applying the spot treatment.
