Brendan and Laura are an amazing young dynamic couple who have founded Applewood Distillery and the wine labels Unico Zelo and Harvest. As if that's not enough, they have created a live nightly broadcast watched by thousands on facebook, chatting all things wine with sommeliers, writers, winemakers and legends of the hospitality industry. 21.01.2022 A great article about the success of our Adelaide Hills neighbours in the recent @decanterawards. @HahndorfHillWinery received the only gold medal awarded to a Grüner Veltliner in the show, despite stiff competition from top Austrian producers. And of course, our @daosasparkling Blanc de Blancs received the only platinum medal for sparkling in Australia, a great honour and a great recognition for the quality of @adelaidehillswineregion sparkling, backed up by several gold medals for @birdinhandwinery! Congratulations to all medal winners!

20.01.2022 We are delighted to announce that our 2015 Blanc de Blancs has been awarded 97 points and a platinum medal at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, the highest awarded Australian sparkling wine in the show. Over 16,500 wines from around the world are blind tasted by a panel of expert judges, and of those only 178 platinum medals have been awarded world-wide this year. We have known for a long time that the Piccadilly Valley was capable of making world-class sparkling wines, and we are deeply honoured to have our flagship sparkling wine recognised on the global stage. Congratulations to the other 16 platinum medal winners in Australia!

18.01.2022 *RECOMMENDATION* This is Vini Wang, co-owner and solo bartender of @bar_peripheral. We had the privilege of visiting last weekend and we were so impressed by the experience we need to shout it from the rooftops. This 12 seater (no standing room) bespoke cocktail bar offers an experience like no other in Adelaide. The unassuming entrance is a closed jarrah door with a discrete copper peephole to alert patrons to the availability of seats at the bar (booking by DM is HIGHLY rec...ommended). Each patron is seated, and each bespoke cocktail is prepared on the flat bar to suit the individual's tastes and requirements. It's a completely immersive and unique experience which will make you forget you are in Australia. 14.01.2022 We use these beautiful oak foudres to age our sparkling base wine for DAOSA. They don't impart an oak character into the wine, but rather allow a tiny amount of oxygen contact, adding depth and complexity.
13.01.2022 Fruit for DAOSA is sourced from Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, the vineyards are 450m 600m above sea level. The altitude provides ideal conditions to grow sparkling wine grapes. The warm days and long, cool nights help the grapes retain their acid levels and develop their fruit flavours, making the Adelaide Hills one of Australia’s most exciting sparkling wine regions.

10.01.2022 Here's an amazing insight into how the Decanter World Wine Awards were judged in London last month with strict social distancing and hygiene measures in place. It's amazing to think that a panel of 116 international judges were able to assemble to judge the awards this year, but we're very glad they did!
