09.01.2022 Spring in Australia is when we all know exactly where the magpies are nesting (at DHS there’s one near the Bike Shack and one near the basketball courts). Here's some sensible advice from our magpie behavioural experts: - Listen out for their high pitched defensive squawk *hear it on ‘Swooping Season: Magpie’ on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1XYOFy9AzY - Wear a hat and sunglasses - Get off your bike and walk if a magpie swoops while you are riding - Go a different ...way to avoid the magpie - Stay calm if a magpie swoops or they might think you’re an attacking enemy - Protect your eyes with your hands during an attack See more

05.01.2022 Colour my world. DHS recently won a small grant from the Pride Foundation to fund a project with the aim of promoting inclusivity. The SRC team decided on a rainbow mural project, collaborating with students across stages to paint a staircase following the colours of the rainbow LGBTIQA+ flag. This is a significant mural featuring bold bright colour, and prompting students to reflect on their values of respect for themselves, and others in the DHS community. Ms McIntosh
