25.01.2022 Another positive scan today Our beautiful big Welsh Cob mare Pen-nant Royal Harmony has scanned 18 days in foal to Warralinga Mocka. Mocka is a very flashy Black Pure Clydesdale stallion standing at approx 16hh. Been a while since I’ve bred a Part Welsh and when the opportunity came up to perhaps breed ourselves a black Buster I couldn’t pass it up. Exciting times ahead.

25.01.2022 Another of our beauties leaves us tomorrow for his new home. This one I never thought I would ever part with but alas the time was right and as he is very closely related to most of my stock it seems the sensible thing to do. He is a real character, not unlike his big sister Daquara Leading Lady aka my Lovely Lola. Such a lovable q...werky line that are more like dogs than horses. Some major tears will be shed tomorrow when he boards the truck off into the big wide world, forfilling the dreams of his new human mummy in the next chapter of his life. 15.01.2022 What a week! Last week was so super busy here at Daquara Stud. Thank goodness not every week is quite as hectic. I’m pooped and looking forward to a little quieter week ahead just baby playing before weaning here begins. What we got up to.... Monday Pen-nant Royal Harmony was scanned in foal. Wednesday was another scanning day where we had two 45+ day confirmations, Daquara Snap Dragon x Blue and Daquara Fanci That x Hunter are both still carrying their very special babies.... These girls carry my second generation and Fanci is also my one and only Durrant Crackerjack girl, so I’m excited to see what she can produce. Lyonesse Penelope was scanned in foal to Blue and our special made to order baby for a loyal client Nicole Bruce is also baking away - Pendragon Pleasant Miss x Hunter. Thursday we welcomed Diva’s cracking Cremello colt into the world and what an absolute ripper he is! And we also turned another cracking colt into an AMAZING gelding with Snapdragon’s beautiful boy loosing his manhood. Friday was full of tears as we said goodbye to a couple of special kids. Daquara Look at Me and Daquara Sassytude left for their new homes. The kids have been traveling well, with Levi arriving at his destination late yesterday and Sassy should arrive today. 14.01.2022 So.... as one beautiful boy left my life.... another super special one has entered it Yesterday Daquara studs beautiful matriarch mare Lyonesse the Maeva Diva blessed us with the early but safe arrival of an absolute smashing Cremello colt with just the right amount of bling Baby is sired by our very handsome Surfer dude Pen-nant Stylish Ambition. This mare is one in a million, she never lets me down. She constantly out produces herself. I knew the Diva/Hunter cross would be special... but OMG this boy is something else!!!

11.01.2022 I absolutely love and adore this horse! My poor Mr Hunter Pen-nant Stylish Ambition is quite a sick boy atm. He has somehow managed to get himself a very serious lung infection Although to look at him he appears and acts his normal self, looks can be deceiving. My eagle eye noticed his breathing was ever so slightly labored and he had dry coughed a couple times. I thought it best to get vet to give him the once over whilst he was here tending to our new baby earlier ...this week. As it turned out luckily I did! I really don’t like it when my vet says Cath I am seriously worried about this one. Hunter is now my very own pin cushion. A testament to his temperament.... as I seriously SUCKED at giving IV meds This beautiful soft stallion has stood and let me poke and prod (sometimes numerous times) trying to find his vein.... 3 times a day for the last 3 days. I can confirm practice does make one perfect and I am now near an expert and only needing to jab him the once. Thank god today is the last day and it’s only oral from here on in. There has been a marked improvement in his breathing so here’s hoping we have caught it early enough and my beautiful boy makes a 100% full recovery. Vet is back on Wednesday to see if we are in the right track See more

09.01.2022 Weaning has begun for a couple of our babies and I’m pleased to say it’s a going super smoothly. I like to slow wean the babies over the course of a couple of weeks as I find it so much kinder on both mare and foal. Mums begin yarded with bubs and I then remove mum into adjacent yard for increasing amounts of time over a fortnight which helps reduce milk production and keep her comfortable whilst baby still feels safe and secure as mum isn’t too far away. Here we have our Lyonesse Penelope x Awakino Blue Diamond (Imp NZ) filly patiently awaiting her breakfast and a quick visit from mum this morning. Her new human mummy is starting to get very excited as the time draws near for her head to her new home. I’m going to miss this girl as she is super talkative and just melts my heart everytime she nickers to me.

07.01.2022 well I did say this week was going to be for foal play! I just didn’t expect to have another one to love on Grenwood with Love has totally suprised me this morning having foaled 21 days early! We have topped our foaling season off with an absolutely ripper of a FILLY and a colored one too boot. obviously she has been sent to me with love sporting a nice big love heart on her flank What a season 2020 has been for us!

05.01.2022 Daquara Sassytude has found herself a new human to love and care for her and will be leaving us on Friday heading to sunny Queensland (lucky girl) Think it might be a shock to her system considering her paddock is currently partially under water. 05.01.2022 Took some quick pics tonight whilst feeding out of probably our biggest cob baby of the season. This baby girl is out Pendragon Pleasant Miss and sired by Pen-nant Stylish Ambition. She is super elegant and very very tall Her mum stands at just over 14.3 and at 3 months old baby is very quickly catching her. Judging by knee height which is taller than Mum, I guess she could go 15+hh. Missy often breeds nice tall babies but they are generally boys (one nearing 15.2 at 3yo) so it’s nice to have a filly this time. This exceptional girl is available and awaiting her new human.
