22.01.2022 Following the Premier's statement this afternoon regarding the lockdown of specific Melbourne suburbs in order to combat the continued spread of COVID-19, we ar...e assessing the information and the expected impact for the postcodes included in this announcement. We remain committed to our roadmap for the return of community netball, and will provide updates on the localised implications in the next 24 hours. In the meantime, please stay safe and look after each other.

20.01.2022 Just a little longer ANNOUNCEMENT FROM NETBALL VICTORIA The announcement of a return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions by the Premier yesterday is a setback for our Return to Community Netball plans throughout metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.... This is a blow for so many members of our netball community, however it is clear that this is a necessary step for the health and safety of not only the people residing in these areas, but the wider Victorian community. From 11:59pm tonight (Wednesday 8 July), people living in these areas will return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions for a period of six weeks. This means that there are only four reasons for residents to leave their homes; to shop for food and supplies, for medical care or caregiving, to exercise, or to study or go to work if this can’t be done from home. This means all netball competitions, training and programs in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire must be suspended until Wednesday 19 August, 2020. Residents in these areas are also not permitted to travel to other areas to participate in netball related activities. We understand the re-instatement of Stay at Home restrictions will affect a considerable number of Affiliates, Clubs and members located within these areas. So many of our Affiliates and Clubs had worked hard to ensure they were well prepared for a return to community netball. Unfortunately, that has been put on hold for the short-term. Whilst six weeks may seem like a long time, we have to remember this is temporary. Although physically we all need to be apart right now, we are a community, and we should do our best to stay engaged and connected. Regardless of where you live, right now, our priority is everyone’s health. Wash your hands. If you feel unwell, stay home. Even if you have the mildest of symptoms, get tested. Physically distance yourself from others, even those you love the most. And - most importantly - please look after each other.

18.01.2022 A great course that I personally did about a month ago for any of our supervisors, mentors and umpires that want to expand their skills

13.01.2022 Now more than ever, Victorian kids deserve the chance to get outside and be active. Back with their friends and teammates back on the pitch, the courts, and t...he cricket nets. But new boots and rego fees aren't cheap and for some families, the cost means that kids miss out altogether. We don't think that's fair. Which is why we're doing this: For the first time ever, up to 100,000 Victorian kids will be given $200 sports vouchers to help cover the cost of getting involved. New bats, balls, uniforms, memberships and sign-up fees can be paid for and the vouchers will be available next year in time for community sport to get going again. I know this might seem like a simple announcement but it'll go a long way towards making sure every Victorian child has the opportunity to follow their passion, do their best and have fun. It'll mean that the next Don Bradman or Tayla Harris doesn't miss out simply because their family can't afford the fees. And it makes things that little bit fairer too.

12.01.2022 We are proud to support Netball Victoria and encourage all of you who can and if your personal circumstances allow, to pledge your membership to continue to grow and improve our great game. As a proud Netball Association /League, we are very grateful that Netball Victoria has demonstrated sound decision making - both now and in the past - for the overall benefit and longevity of our sport. As a sport, we have always done a lot with a little. And this is evident now more than ...ever. In an environment where some multi-national corporations have faltered- a small, not-for-profit state sporting organisation, is still chugging along. It’s not quite business as normal working environments, staff hours and the way netball is delivered have all had to change but it is business as usual. Netball Victoria exists to improve people’s lives, and we are thankful that they will withstand the pandemic and be there to support organisations like ours and our Clubs now and into the future. Our Association/League is also in a sound position. Things will be difficult, but with the support we receive from both Netball Victoria and our community, we know we will be okay. In all areas of our lives we have been forced to adapt over recent months, and netball has been no exception to this. But at the end of the day we #PlayForTheLove. And the small sacrifices we have had to make will soon seem a distant memory when we are back on the court and thriving once again. A strong Netball Victoria is important to us, not just for our Association/League, but for the overall longevity of the sport we love. At this time, we are strongly encouraging our members to pledge their 2020 Netball Victoria Membership. Your Netball Victoria Membership is an investment in the future of our sport. Having a Netball Victoria Membership is saying, yes, I support my Association/League, my Club, my Coaches and my Umpires. It’s saying I love my netball, and I want to see it thrive on the other side.

12.01.2022 Metropolitan Melbourne, we finally have the green light! At 11:59pm on Tuesday 27 October Metropolitan Melbourne will move to Step Three. 09.01.2022 Sharon can't do it all on her own. We need our best defence and our strongest team to beat this virus. Who's in?

08.01.2022 RETURN TO COMPETITION- update 24th June Netball Victoria is pleased to release the updated the Return to Community Netball guidelines, following the recent Victorian Government announcements regarding the lifting of some COVID-19 restrictions. We are excited to have a road map which paves the way for the return of community sport in Victoria. The way that our netball community has adopted Netball Victoria’s Return to Community Netball guidelines has been fantastic, an...d shows a commitment to ensuring the safe return to play. We understand that our sport is reliant on local community input and a dedicated workforce of volunteers, and it is our aim to provide information and resources to support the return of community netball. To this end, Netball Victoria will once again be hosting a number of information sessions to inform and educate Affiliates on the protocols for a safe return to netball and to ensure that you are comfortable with your role in this. As you will most likely know, from last Monday, 22 June: Indoor venues could open for the purpose of sport and recreation; People under the age of 18 were able to resume full contact training and competition, at both indoor and outdoor venues; Adults 18 years and over could participate in non-contact training in groups of up to 20 - plus a coach - at both indoor and outdoor venues. Adults will have to wait a little longer to return to competition. We expect further clarification on this in July. Netball Victoria Affiliates and Clubs are required to adhere to the Return to Community Netball guidelines. Naturally, we will continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of both the individuals involved our sport, as well as the wider community as we work toward a safe return to training and competition in this new COVID-19 environment. All Return to Community Netball information and resources can be found on the Netball Victoria website. Netball Victoria continue to engage with AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria and other sporting organisations around the return to community sport, and we encourage you to continue working together to adopt the best approach for your local community. We are eager to get back to the game we love, and we look forward to working with our Associations, Leagues and Clubs to ensure our return to the court is as seamless as possible. For further advice on how your Association or Club can return to play, please contact [email protected]. Further announcements around the easing of restrictions, including the return to competition details for adults, will be made in July, pending further government announcements. Participants should not return to netball if, in the last 14 days, they have been unwell or have had close contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19. We encourage everyone to maintain physical distancing and keep up good personal health and hygiene practices.
