04.01.2022 "Never Stop Learning: For When We Stop Learning, We Stop Growing" - Jack Lewman Collective Reviews... DARE Collective are proponents of learning through observation and critical study. For this purpose, our team of associated artists are encouraged to write theatrical reviews for productions that they see. Our Reviews are designed to be a way of encouraging audiences to see more theatre and supporting our love for Tasmanian artists and their work, but also to give honest and critical feedback so that audiences and peers can observe our own discoveries and continue to grow our community. Way back in February, before all our theatres went dark, DARE Collective Artistic Director, Matt Taylor, was lucky enough to see The Old Nick Company's summer school production of Be More Chill. Directed by Mikaela Campbell, Matt wrote DARE's very first review. You can read it below. As more and more theatres begin to reopen around Tasmania, DARE Collective will be available to support, review, and love all work that comes out of our island state. https://www.darecollective.com.au/be-more-chill-old-nick-co
02.01.2022 DARE Collective Presents.. DARE READS: MEAT EATERS by Lewis Treston. A "Dramatized Playreading" Directed by Matt Taylor... Written by 2016 Patrick White Award-winning Australian playwright Lewis Treston, Meat Eaters is a fluorescent and disturbed comedy about cruelty. This bizarre account of a small team of e-commerce retailers struggling to sell their range of pet supplies on their PAWS website, tackles a full kennel of hairy questions, including: the ethics of eating meat, the dark side of human nature and examines the societal hypocrisy in all facets of social politics. It’s a cerebral, surreal and sometimes simply silly comedy that tickles your funny bone before slugging a hammer into your rib cage. MEAT EATERS was first developed through Sydney Theatre Company's Rough Draft program and made its world premiere at NIDA in 2019. DARE Collective brings it to Launceston audiences, with a frenetic, fun and chaotic Dramatized play reading. Starring: Allison Snare, Troy Ridgway, Ryan Politis & Sophie Hart ONE NIGHT ONLY September 24th @ 6:30pm Upstairs Foyer, Princess Theatre, Launceston Very Limited availability. Book In Advance through Theatre North. COVID Restrictions and measures will be in place. Don't miss out!
