25.01.2022 "Shinrin-yoku is like a bridge. By opening our senses, it bridges the gap between us and the natural world. And when we are in harmony with the natural world we can begin to heal." - Dr Qing Li, one of the world's leading forest bathing experts #shinrinyoku #naturetherapy #forestbathing #treesheal #healing #mentalhealth #selfcare #wellbeing #wellness

22.01.2022 "You don't need a forest; any small green space will do. Leave your cup of coffee and your phone behind and just walk slowly. You don't need to exercise, you just need to open your senses to nature. It will improve your mood, reduce tension and anxiety, and help you focus and concentrate for the rest of the day." 19.01.2022 Full Moon in Pisces the end of the lunar cycle, a time to let go; to release what doesn't serve us any more. And once we let go, we create space for wonderful new beginnings #fullmoon #fullmoonritual #wellbeing #wellness #spirituality #selfcare #meditation #lettinggo #release

19.01.2022 Dusk is my favourite time of the day. I love hearing the chorus of the insects as they emerge and the birds calling as they find their resting spot for the night. I love the change it represents; whether it has been a good day or a bad day, dusk offers an opportunity to stop, to breathe, to start again. But most of all, I love the colours. The stunning dashes of pink, orange and red that burst through the sky. Yes these colours are created by the phenomenon of scattering, whe...n molecules and small particles in the atmosphere change the direction of the light rays...but I still think it's magic When is your favourite time of day? #wellbeing #wellness #spirituality #selfcare #naturetherapy #naturehealing #forestbathing #hiking #meditation #mentalhealth #daretochangetherapies

18.01.2022 Camomile tea has always been known for its health benefits as it was served as a cold remedy dating all the way back to ancient Egypt. Originating from the Greek word for "ground apple", camomile is enjoyed all around the world, not only as a cold remedy but also used to aid sleep, soothe an upset stomach and even diabetes management. * I was fascinated to learn that the ancient Romans, Egyptians and Greeks would apply camomile directly to wounds to speed up healing.... * You will recognise the tea as beautiful little yellow flowers with a distinct flavour. It can be drunk either on its own, or with lemon or honey. I associate the smell and taste with a feeling of calm, an invitation to stop and take some deep breaths. * Tea can be used in our own self-care rituals; whether it's a regular part of our day, or simply sitting down with a cup of tea in a moment when we need to find our inner calm. * In lieu of being able to travel right now in Melbourne lockdown, I’m going to discover how tea is consumed in different cultures. I hope you can join me #selfcare #wellbeing #wellness #meditation #mentalhealth #tealovers #tea #camomiletea #teatime #tealover #mindfulness #mindfulnesspractice

17.01.2022 A message to all my Sound Medicine Hikers Due to the new lockdown restrictions, unfortunately the Sound Medicine Hike scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled. Sound Medicine Hikes will resume once restrictions ease. One on one Sound Energy Healings will be available online and the 20% off healings for July offer I posted yesterday will be extended to the end of August. Stay tuned to my Facebook and Instagram for updates and online events during lockdown, and send me ...a message if you’d like to join my mailing list. Like everyone in Victoria right now, I’m worried about being locked down again, about isolation, loneliness and disconnection from other souls. I’m not alone in finding the isolation of the last lockdown really difficult, so I want to make an effort to do things differently this time. If there is anyone out there who wants to meet for a socially distanced walk and bathe in the nature around us, then please reach out. If you live on the other side of Melbourne, then lets walk and chat on the phone. Maintaining good mental health is essential at this time, and I find the most important strategies for me are reaching out, connecting with others and with Mother Earth My contact details are available on my website www.daretochangetherapies.com.au Let’s all look after ourselves and each other x #soundhealing #soundmedicine #naturetherapy #shinrinyoku #forestbathing #mentalhealth #wellbeing #wellness #selfcare #supportduringlockdown

16.01.2022 Today on my journey of drinking tea around the world, I'm preparing one of my favourites, Japanese matcha tea. * Matcha has origins dating all the way back to 900 years ago with Chinese Zen Buddhist monks who first drank powdered tea. It was introduced to Japan in the 11th century, who used specially grown green tea leaves to create the powder with that distinctive green colour. It has since become a key element of Japanese ceremony and culture.... * You may have heard of the Japanese 'Green Tea Ceremony' or 'Matcha Ceremony' where a group will gather in a teahouse and their host will prepare and serve them matcha tea. It's a beautiful ceremony to participate in; the temperature of the water, the way the tea is whisked and how it is served and drunk are so exact, it is quite meditative. * Matcha is intended to be drunk mindfully and the preparation assists with accessing that meditative state. The water must cool slightly after its boiled and the bamboo spoon (see the video) is used to measure the correct amount of matcha powder. A shallow ceramic bowl is used so there is enough room to use the bamboo whisk and then to drink the tea with both hands. The whisking part is so important for the flavour of the tea and you'll see the tea starting to froth. I love taking the time in the morning to focus on this beautiful process. I hope you can join me #daretochangetherapies #selfcare #wellbeing #wellness #spirituality #meditation #mentalhealth #teaceremony #tealovers #theartoftea

13.01.2022 Today is the Spring Equinox and there may be some of you out there wondering what that is? At 12pm today, the Sun will be directly above the Earth's equator, ensuring the dividing line between day and and night will pass through the North and South Poles. The Earth's axis normally tilts either towards or away from the Sun, but today is the second other time in the year it doesn't (the other time is in March). This means that on this day, daytime and nighttime will be of equal... length, all around the world. Spring Equinox is a day of rebirth and renewal, of shedding what we don't need anymore. We celebrate the emergence of Spring flowers and plants, connect with nature and surrender. This Spring Equinox also falls just a few days after the end of a dark moon cycle, with the next full moon on the 2nd October being the first of the lunar year. This means energies are high with lots of letting go and setting intentions. The word I'll be pondering today is 'emerge' #springequinox #naturetherapy #naturehealing #shinrinyoku #forestbathing #fullmoon #surrender #meditation #newlunarcycle #spring #spirituality #daretochangetherapies

06.01.2022 According to Chinese legend, tea was actually discovered by accident in 2737 BCE by Emperor Shren Nong. A leaf from a nearby wild tea tree floated down into his pot of boiling water and he enjoyed it so much he had to learn more. * Since then, tea has not been just a hot drink we consume, but also used as central element in ritual and ceremony and shared within gatherings. The making, consumption and the serving of tea in these settings is strongly linked to the heart of many... cultures around the world. * Today I'm making chai, which is black tea boiled with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, fresh ginger, star anise, honey and milk (added in the last few minutes of boiling). Once it's ready I pour it through a strainer as pictured. * Chai is said to date back more than 5000 years, and traditionally used in Ayuveda healing practices with the tea leaves, milk and sweetener being introduced much later on. There is no one recipe for chai as it varies so much throughout India with different spices, techniques and sweetners being used. * I find the process of getting the mix of spices, water temperature and milk just right to be a great way to start the day. It gives me an opportunity to slow down and reflect whilst it boils, and to set my intention for the day. * Tea can be used in our own self-care rituals; whether it's a regular part of our day, or simply sitting down with a cup of tea in a moment when we need to find our inner calm. In lieu of being able to travel right now in Melbourne lockdown, I’m going to discover how tea is consumed in different cultures. I hope you can join me #selfcare #wellbeing #wellness #meditation #mentalhealth #ritual #teaceremony #theartoftea #tealovers #healing

05.01.2022 This tree in my backyard reminds me of my journey with TRTP (The Richards Trauma Process). I felt like the trauma I experienced had wrapped itself around me like the myriad of branches above. It was complicated and messy and I felt like I was suffocating, like the branches were never going to let me go. Going through the 3 sessions of TRTP gave me the strength and power to break free of the branches' clutches so I could start living my life instead of just surviving through ...it. So how do I look at this tree now? I look back and can see my journey as scary and complicated, but I also see the beauty in what it gave me; strength, wisdom and resilience. This tree is now my favourite spot in my garden for quiet reflection and grounding. In fact, TRTP inspired me so much that I became a practitioner myself, and I can't wait to share this incredible process with you. To find out more, book a free 30 minute Zoom consultation via my website www.daretochangetherapies.com.au or DM me with any questions #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #ptsd #anxiety #depression #wellbeing #wellness #selfcare #trtp #trauma #traumarecovery #healing #mentalillness #mentalillnessrecovery

03.01.2022 A couple of days ago, I felt like there were a few things I needed to let go of. They were exhausting me, weighing me down. I wrote these things down and thanked them for what they taught me.... I burnt the list and offered the ashes back to Mother Earth. I cleared the space with white sage and created this crystal grid, expressing my intentions and what I want to bring into my life. I meditated to offer a space of stillness and calm to invite these intentions in, resulting in a beautiful feeling of lightness. Do you have anything you need to let go of? An opportunity arises this Friday at Bloom with the Moon, an online workshop collaboration with Kira from @oshunyoga hat combines yoga, virtual forest bathing, meditation, sound healing, sharing and ceremony under the Full Moon in Aries.
