21.01.2022 Ode to the Ancient Ones
20.01.2022 This book looks fantastic! With the autumn rains here in the Southern Hemisphere, now is a great time to be out foraging edible and medicinal weeds! Happy foraging!
16.01.2022 Belated Solstice Blessings To All . Reflecting on what crazy times we have been living in indeed! A year ago Dark Horse was launched into the aether of the online world. ... It’s been a wild ride since then; devastating fires that ravaged our country, navigating the healing of a neck injury, being contracted to work with a local community arts organisation and the slowed, closure of the world as we knew it through the COVID 19 Pandemic.... . Amidst all of these interwoven factors, firstly, I have been eternally grateful for so many things and secondly, although Dark Horse has been a quiet beast, I hope it can slowly plod ever onwards into the new world. It has meant a return for so many to a quieter, simpler and more sustainable existence. . Sending solstice blessings to you all out there and wishing you the wonder of all the small moments and hope you have time to breathe, wander, wonder and take yourself into the arms of the wilds... . . . #wildartofnature #returnofthelight #wintersolstice #sacredwildness #justbreathe #darkhorsetraditions See more
16.01.2022 A fascinating read...
16.01.2022 YES! Eat weeds....
15.01.2022 A great read about the world of untameable plants of antiquity and their human induced demise. I hope the mythos and teaching of this herb will aid us in managing other wild medicines...
14.01.2022 Did you know there are 85 species of Mistletoe native to Australia? Misteltoe was also a sacred plant of the Druids used ceremonially for magic and as a medicine.
13.01.2022 Been reading the seminal 'Return to Nature' by Masanobu Fukuoka. It's filled with brilliant, timeless and ancient nature focused wisdom. Although written in the 1980's the messages & concerns for the environment, agricultural practices and wider global human/nature interface are as paramount today as ever. ... This quote comes from 'A Message for Peace', outlying a clear vision for humanity to reconnect to the earth & Fukuoka's concerns for the insanities of war & rampant materialism. It’s the simple joys of nature that truly bring happiness. Inspirational to read. . . . #masanobufukuoka #happiness #wildcraftingwisdom #wild #plantwisdom #returntonature #ancientwisdom #herbalwisdom #wildweeds #wildplants #nature_up_close #naturelovers

08.01.2022 The sweet longing of the in between...so beautifully articulated...
08.01.2022 "Sand Talk provides a template for living. It’s about how lines and symbols and shapes can help us make sense of the world. It’s about how we learn and how we remember. It’s about talking to everybody and listening carefully. It’s about finding different ways to look at things."
07.01.2022 Madeira Vine...edible!
07.01.2022 Just passed an abundant flowering Brachychiton the other day & this popped up...
07.01.2022 Ode to Plantain...
07.01.2022 First flowering of wild #datura - Datura stramonium, grown from seeds I found on top of the back hill last year! They are so majestic! . Planted last Samhain, these babies have burst forth after a summer of drought, fire and now blessed rain... .... The power of this plant feels palpable - wild, heavenly, dangerous and yet mysterious and angelic all swirled together into the heart of this plant teacher. Like other plants in the nightshade (Solanaceae) family, Datura is deadly if taken incorrectly and potent medicinally if prepared according to the correct traditions and lineages. Not to be taken or used lightly, however, the divine smell and presence really brings home a reminder to trust to the great mystery and let things unfold & unravel in their own magical ways... . . . #daturastramonium #jimsonweed #solanaceae #nightshadefamily #wildcrafting #wildflowers #medicinalplants #plantspirits #datura

02.01.2022 Happy wild thistle day! And happy new year, happy Lughnasash, Lammas and all good things to you all! Had a huge break from social media over summer, travelled through the desert, began new things and in the process of gearing up for more things to come. It’s been a slow start for which I am truly grateful. ... It’s not really wild thistle day, I made that up, but makes my heart very happy today. . . . #newyear #lughnasadh #lammas #midway #wildthistles #celebrateeveryday #ontheroad #wildmedecine #thistles See more
