25.01.2022 Love this. lighting basics, keeping it simple.

24.01.2022 Late night projects taking over the dining table.

24.01.2022 If you are lucky enough to have a place with an outdoor area and window large enough to see it Light it up! The absence of external lighting creates a mirror like effect on our windows, leaving us feeling claustrophobic and scared of whats lurking outside. Turning the outside lighting on at night extends our view, tricking us into thinking that our home is larger than it really is, while providing a sense of safety and comfort. #outdoorlighting #homelighting

24.01.2022 Hanging out with Jesse @felixdellwood workshop no king up the heat sinks for out lighting at the fox

22.01.2022 Juicies 2019, what a night. It is always a privildge to be a part of such a wonderful event. This is our 5th awards night and I have to say, they just keep getting better and better. For those of you that arent familiar, Juiced TV is an entertainment initiative made by the kids in hospital, for the kids in hospital, and the Juicies are their night of nights. Each year Darkspace / JTIS Electrical (using the products donated by Firefly Lighting) donate our time and bring the light to this spectacular event....as you can tell by the smiles on those faces, its totally worth it.

21.01.2022 Being a dad is without a doubt, the most rewarding part of my life. But it's a tough gig balancing work and play.

20.01.2022 A few snaps of the recently finished apartment I completed the lighting design for earlier this year ...

19.01.2022 Light now used as the Standard measurement of weight!

17.01.2022 Architects of Air luminarium on the Sunshine Coast. Its hard to describe the effect that the tent has on the eye. Such copious amounts of light, but as it is only in one colour, it is actually hard to see. Very trippy but so much fun!

17.01.2022 Temperature dimming downlights .. The difference in the two photos was created by simply Dimming the lights. Much like old halogen downlights . Some LED downlights such as the Brightgreen Nightshift D700 used here, automatically reduce colour temperature with brightness while dimming. Perfect for those calming environments #brightgreen #lighting

17.01.2022 Atmosphere Vs Luminescence Nobody wants to get down and dirty under clinical lighting (okay, okay ... well not everybody).... More light does not mean better vision or a more pleasant viewing environment. Quite often it creates the opposite. All too often I see high powered CFL or LED fittings, blasting cool colour temperature light everywhere, and lighting the place up like a stadium. I dont plan on playing AFL in my lounge room, so why is it lit up like the MCG? Using warmer colour temperature lamps, combinations of indirect and direct lighting, up lighting, low level and feature lighting, combined with controllable light levels, we can modify the feel of our home, altering our moods and our emotional, and physiological state. Want more advice on how to enhance the lighting in your own home?? Why not check out our E-Book 5 Common Faults With Modern Residential Lighting ... Its totally free, no strings attached. 14.01.2022 Did anybody happen to catch this show !? If so what were you thoughts ? I am gutted I missed it. So much planning and effort goes into putting a show like this together, it would be mind boggling! https://www.youtube.com/watch

13.01.2022 Lighting design isnt just about beautiful pendants and well positioned lamps. Lighting impacts our physiological, physical and emotive well being and as such plays a significant role in affecting the dynamic of a space. While I love creating unique lighting deigns, sometimes the best solution for a dark space, is a well-positioned window or skylight. Natural lighting optimisation is an important aspect of my role and one that should be considered for any new build.

13.01.2022 New lights are in full action @thefoxhotel .. thanks to @twisted.pair.productions For programming and huge thanks to @artistcollectiveagency for the video and epic commitment to such a good venue!

12.01.2022 Ricochete espresso in the city. I Popped in to catch up with DJ and discuss light options for a new menu board. I really like the fit out of this small place. Its so homely.

08.01.2022 Candlelight, the only light you need on Valentines Day. Not only do the low levels of light reduce stress and make us feel more relaxed, but they provide just enough light for us to focus on our companion, while dimming out all other distractions. That should be enough for candles to be the perfect light for a romantic setting, but whats more is that the darkened environment allows the pupils to dilate, which on a subconscious level signals attraction. Studies have shown that our pupils dilate wider than normal when were excited about something or someone, so its only natural for candles to be the perfect choice when setting the mood for love.

05.01.2022 Finally installed the Kimmins full digital @thefoxhotel!

05.01.2022 Lighting tip of the day. Dont light the air....we cannot see it, so stop throwing so much light at it. Poorly positioned downlights are a common problem I see in many homes. Theyre scattered to produce even lighting throughout the home, which more often than not creates glare, bright floors and shadows in workspaces such as benchtops and dining tables.... Using less light and directing it at the features in the room and allowing the spill to light the rest, creates a far more interesting space. By lighting the elements in the space, the room takes on a new life. The artwork, hardly noticeable before, now pops, the boring plant now glows, and we are left feeling more positive and inspired in our environment.
