22.01.2022 When we were kids we used to walk from darkum to mullaway through the woods and today we rediscovered the track.

16.01.2022 If you want to venture a little bit further than woolgoolga during your stay at darkum try emerald beach for its beach, walks, delving into history and a great cafe/restaurant with a yummy Strathbogie chardonay. It’s only 10 minutes down the highway.

16.01.2022 It’s been years since I have been rock hopping at Darkum. When we were kids it was a daily activity. Today I found the path to King Neptune’s throne.

09.01.2022 If you are lucky enough to be staying at Darkum and you want to find a different path to Jan’s shop try the walk through the woods. Take the paved path towards the beach but instead of going down the stairs to the beach go straight ahead. The first dozen steps are a bit overgrown but then it opens up. Don’t forget to take the time to stop and look around. Enjoy

07.01.2022 Early morning beach walk, a morning of gardening, lunch at bluebottles, whales in the surf break at woolgoolga headland(amazing) finishing up with drinks and pizza around the fire. A perfect day at darkum.

07.01.2022 Ssshh Two tails wines at nana glen a new fave for lunch or a tasting paddle with matched cheese. Highly recommend. This winery over the last 12 months has faced drought, fires, floods and now covid but it is still there offering Fabulous flavours in its tapas style menu a great wine list and tastings of its own wine:

02.01.2022 Feeling a bit sad and disillusioned tonight. Last weekend we had some guests choose to have a wedding at darkum despite the strict no functions or parties policy. This is not the first time that this has happened. As a family we have always and will continue to celebrate milestones at this amazing part of the world that we have such a deep connection to. We love the fact that other families choose our holiday house to get together and enjoy family time but it is not a venue.... We totally support our management team at Cardows who have been supporting us as we navigate through this difficult terrain. At the same time we feel for the people that have been celebrating a special time in their lives and the effect that discovery and the ongoing consequences will mean on their lives. However the bottom line is that they did not abide by the rules. There was a function organised with caterers etc They inconvenienced other guests and neighbours. The holiday house industry whether it be air bnb or stayz or ??? Is under a lot of scrutiny by councils who are trying to gauge the local reaction. I am sure the local reaction is positive if the guests hiring the property move in and create minimal impact. Parties in holiday rentals that exceed the maximum guests for the property are a no no and will not be invited or tolerated by us. See more
