23.01.2022 On Friday September 11, 2020 I gave a talk and demonstration on Plant Propagation to some local ladies at the Charters Towers Outback Women’s Shed. I enjoyed meeting and the chat with these energetic ladies. Thank you ladies for inviting me.
22.01.2022 $5.00 box fresh out of the garden.
22.01.2022 Had a fabulous evening on Friday at the Columbia Catholic College COVID Recovery Markets and then we topped it off on Sunday at the Charters Towers QCWA on Sunday. Many thanks to everyone who came along and purchased goods from us. It was great to see so many repeat customers plus new ones. I had to start refilling my supplies so I will be able to see you all at next months markets, I will not be at the Centenary Park Community Markets this Sunday August 23rd.
22.01.2022 Small pickings in the kitchen garden this morning!
21.01.2022 So glad to see my gladioli blooming this morning.
21.01.2022 My first batch of Dill Pickles for 2020. I used gherkins that I am growing in my big veggie patch. I don’t have very many so I will be pickling in small batches. For something different I added mini capsicums (peppers), asparagus, green beans and carrots to some of the jars. I also did a small jar of drilled carrots for they are my favourite. The jars are very colourful. I am doing the traditional fermentation method but after talking to my brother Darrell today, I will try the hot pack method when I use up the leftover brine.
19.01.2022 Getting ready for tomorrow’s markets at Columbia Catholic College. Busy busy baking. I will have gluten free baked goods.
18.01.2022 Just finished bottling Bread and Butter Pickles. Sorry about the crooked labels but my Worker said I am not paying him so I best be happy he is helping.
15.01.2022 Another great day at the Markets today. Just sending a big thank you for everyone who supported our stall today at the markets. I will be at Columbia College on August 14th at the COVID Community Recovery Markets, however If you need any of my goodies before the next markets just call or message me. My details are on the label.
12.01.2022 My morning bounty
11.01.2022 What a day of baking for the Centenary Park Markets this Sunday. I am finally sitting down waiting for the brownies to finish baking. I made cupcakes and brownies today and washed all the bottles for cordial. Tuesday was pumpkin fruit cakes, banana cakes (bread) and date cakes(loafs). Tomorrow will be cinnamon buns, pumpkin scones, lemon butter, passion fruit butter and Grandma’s salad dressing and cordials. Plus all the different icings will need to be made tomorrow. I have to have everything made before Saturday since Ergon will have the power off all day. I hope I end up with a lot of customers
09.01.2022 Pumpkin Tarts 6 for $10.00
08.01.2022 Just a heads up to everyone. The QCWA is holding their first markets since the Corona Virus Shut Down. I will be up at the QCWA Hall this Sunday with some home made goodies. I even decided to make a batch of Cinnamon Buns and Brownies. I apologise if they are not up to my usual standard but I have been out of practice since February. Just a few items I just made today.
05.01.2022 I needed to refill my supplies. Yesterday I made two batches of Mango Chutney. One hot and one mild. I have had requests for different heat temperature chutney so for easy identification, I have colour coded the Chutney. Red, yellow, and green for hot, medium and mild. Today I have plans to make a medium Paw Paw and Mango Chutney and a batch of Mum’s Mustard Pickles. If anyone has empty jars, I like to use recycled jars that take a 63mm twist off lid. I purchased a box of new lids and by recycling it is win win for my customers and the environment. I spend a bit more time cleaning the jars but they are not going into the landfill and I am able to save my customers a couple of dollars.
