24.01.2022 Here is a reminder of the final days of 'A Splash of Colour' at our office in the Australia Arcade. We will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday and on Thursday afernoon, or by appointment. The exhibition packs up next Tuesday, December 22.

24.01.2022 A message from DDEC member group Wadju Jugu. You can be part of this global event too! Tonight Aunty Kali and myself will be taking part in both a Humanitree and 11 Days of Global Unity event. Today's focus is Women, Women's issues and empowerment! You can join the live showing on the event or watch later here or at #humanitree Aunty and I spent a lovely hour chatting around women's stuff, introducing Wadju Jugu and Peace Valley, how we got connected and Cultural Burning which is very much on our minds at the moment. Above all we did a #humanitree planting and planted Aunty first and then planted a tree in honour of women worldwide. Wendy of #pipicmedia did the filming and the hard work while we just chatted! Thanks Wendy!

23.01.2022 What jobs do we want in Queensland and the regions? What jobs are possible? What do we have to do to get there. Read this important report on Queensland and our regions sustainable economic future. After all, there are no jobs on a dead planet.

21.01.2022 T4CA - Toowoomba for Climate Action - did it! They succeeded in getting TRC to establish an Environmental Advisory Committee, acknowledging climate change in the terms of reference. Congratulations, especially to those who collected the more than 1000 petition signatures, those who wrote to and met with councillors, built relationships, and educated councillors on the issue. We will now have better informed decisions and outcomes in TRC, and the whole community should be grateful. Thankyou T4CA.

21.01.2022 DDEC is co sponsoring this event because we support a frack free TRC. Do you? https://www.facebook.com//gm.78861977193/192980145678388/

17.01.2022 The afternoon of 21st Century Jobs will be spent creating a Community Action Plan. We need your input! Even if you can't be there on the day, we want to hear from you.

16.01.2022 Power Up Queensland (through the Queensland Conservation Council) have identified over 17,000 new jobs in renewables on the Darling Downs. Nearly 200 jobs are currently scheduled to disappear from New Acland Coal. Thankfully there can be more than enough replacements. As our 21st Century Jobs forum highlighted, It is clear the growth in productivity and prosperity lies with renewables.

13.01.2022 #FarmersforFarming #Springvale This is the best wheat crop I have ever seen. PetroChina and Shell would like to frack it - they already have a pad just OUTSIDE the farm boundary, ready to go. They have no consent from the farmer, they just aim to horizontally frack his field from there, without compensation. Will you stand with Farmers For Farming? They are going in all the way to protect their land. Let [email protected] know you are willing to stand with them, and to support their actions in Court or otherwise to stop this.

13.01.2022 DDEC President Lee Mason pronounces the office opening a great success!

11.01.2022 Is this our future in the Toowoomba Regional Council area? Our member Western Downs Alliance has been dealing with this on the Western Downs. Explanations are not forthcoming. Is this not ample reason not to keep TRC frack free?

10.01.2022 Did you know that New Hope Coal have stopped Oakey Coal Action Alliance from spending their own money to defend themselves? Our member group WDA wants to help OCAA get the message across - for Future Generations - Don't Mine Acland! Can you help too? https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-future-generations-don039t-m

09.01.2022 A fundamental tenet of Christian and other religions is stewardship of the Earth. Will the way religions respond to climate change make climate action an article of faith in society generally? Tune in on Friday night to find out!

02.01.2022 Our member group Oakey Coal Action Alliance has succeeded in the highest Court in the Land in having all approvals for the controversial Acland Stage 3 thermal coal mine scrapped. DDEC will now join them in the final episode of the journey we started 5 years ago to end coal mining in closely settled agricultural districts on the Darling Downs. Thankyou to the Envrionmental Defenders Office and all those who have contributed to historic victory. https://www.facebook.com//a.453987227970/3691195950916537/

02.01.2022 Darling Downs Environment Council was proud and honoured to bring nationally renowned experts in the fields of energy, regenerative and carbon farming, and community building to support sustainable, prosperous jobs to Oakey.
